Fade Away

"Hello?"

Schneep stood alone in the dark with stars peppering the sky and illuminating Schneep's surroundings so he could see that he was standing on the rooftop of the hotel Marvin had nearly jumped off of a year ago.

"Marvin!" Schneep cried as a white cat raced past him before disappearing out of sight, leaving him alone once more while the sound of cars below filled the deafening silence.

"You don't love me back, do you?" Marvin muttered bitterly as he stood on the edge of the building, the magician appearing in front of Schneep in human form with his cat mask split in half at his feet and his sky blue eyes rimmed red.

"Marvin, you're okay!" Schneep cried in relief, reaching towards Marvin until the magician flinched away from him, the soles of his shoes hovering over the edge.

"Why did you let me die?" Marvin whispered in a heartbroken voice as he bowed his head, picking up a piece of the mask and examining it in his hands before tossing it off of the building and watching it fall with a defeated expression.

"I...I'm s-sorry!" Schneep choked out, his voice thick with emotion as he lowered his hand to his side and held his breath, praying that Marvin would step away from the edge.

"No..." Marvin trailed off as he turned away from Schneep, the magician raising his head as he swallowed hard.

"I know you're not because you don't even care about me the same way that I care about you." Marvin argued softly, Schneep feeling his heart ache as he fell to his knees.

"I care, just please...come back to me." Schneep pleaded desperately, Marvin looking back to look at him over his shoulder.

"Too bad."

Schneep's eyes widened in fear as Marvin's eyes turned pitch black, the magician looking away from Schneep as he calmly stepped off of the edge.

"NO!" Schneep screamed as he tried to reach for Marvin, his hand barely brushing against his fluttering cape before he disappeared.

Schneep snapped out of his dream with a startled cry, Marvin's body laying on the floor mere inches away from his face.

"What?" Dean demanded, instantly awake as he bolted up into a sitting position and looked over at the German before relaxing when he saw no signs of danger.

"I-I couldn't save him, I pr-promised to save him." Schneep hiccuped as he scrambled away from Marvin, tears streaming down his face as he sat up and curled his knees into his chest before wrapping his arms around them.

"What's going on?" Sam called out groggily as he trudged out of the bedroom with Seán, the Irishman's expression softening as he knelt down by the German.

"What's your name?" Seán asked gently, his hand resting on Schneep's shoulder as he smiled.

"My-my name is H-Henrik Von Sc-Schneeplestien." Schneep stammered, his breathing erratic.

"My name's Seán, but people also call me Jack. Now, I want you to take a deep breath with me Henrik, okay?" Seán instructed calmly, Schneep managing a short nod as his body shook.

"There ya go, you're okay." Seán soothed Schneep, watching the German as he gradually started to relax while regulating his breathing.

"You like a part time psychiatrist or something?" Sam questioned Seán curiously, the male standing up with a smile.

"I'm a YouTuber, and sometimes when I meet fans, they get incredibly anxious. I've taught myself ways to calm people down, which also kinda helps me sometimes." Seán admitted, looking back at Schneep as he managed to stand.

"Dean, I can't get past Hell's defenses."

Cas appeared next to Dean with his trench coat torn in multiple places, several bleeding cuts lining his face and his clothes stained in blood that was either his or something else's.

"Zhere has to be another vay, right?" Schneep cut in, Cas shaking his head grimly as he sat on the couch.

"Zhen I suppose I have a deal to make." Schneep sighed as he walked towards the door, Sam grabbing the German's arm to stop him in his tracks.

"No way, you can't trade your soul for Marvin's. He'll just do the same thing for you and you'll be back to where you started." Sam argued.

"He's too important to me, I-"

Schneep broke off as images of his dream flashed through his mind, the German gently pulling his arm out of Sam's grip.

"Vhen he vakes up, take care of him for me and make sure he knows zhat I..." Schneep trailed off as he looked down at Marvin's body before forcing himself to continue towards the door.

"Doc wait!" Dean shouted after Schneep, the older Winchester chasing after the German while Sam stayed with Seán and a recovering Cas.

"I have to find Anti." Schneep muttered to himself as he hastily crossed the street, not noticing the truck barreling towards him with its horn honking and headlights on.

"Son of a bitch!" Dean cursed loudly as he helplessly watched the truck hit Schneep with a sickening thud, the force sending him flying across the street before rolling to a stop several feet away.

"Hey!" Dean shouted to the driver as they hastily drove off, the older Winchester unable to catch the plate number as the truck disappeared.

"What happened?" Sam demanded his brother as he ran outside with Seán, the Irishman noticing Schneep's body before he turned away and threw up on the ground while Sam and Dean approached Schneep's body.

"Jesus, vhat zhe hell is going on!?" Schneep helped as he looked down at his hands before looking at his body laying broken in the street with Sam and Dean kneeling by him.

"You're dying Henrik."

Schneep whirled around to see a woman with shoulder length brown hair and hazel eyes watching the German with her hands clasped behind her back, a sad smile on her face.

"I-I, zhere is-no, I can't-"

"Im sorry, but I'm here to take you to Heaven." The woman interrupted, cutting off Schneep's frantic rambling.

"Vhat are you?" Schneep demanded, the woman chuckling mirthlessly.

"I'm a reaper, I go by the name Chloe." She supplied, Schneep falling silent as he reached out to Dean and tried to touch his shoulder.

"They can't see, hear, or feel you." Chloe explained as Dean shivered, the male frowning as he looked around him.

"You're dying, you don't have much time. If you don't come with me, you'll be trapped as a ghost on Earth for forever." Chloe added urgently.

"Can you take me to Hell?" Schneep countered grimly, the German watching an ambulance pull up.

"No, you're not dead yet, but your body is in shock." Chloe replied, following Schneep's gaze to watch the German's body being laid on a stretcher and placed in the back of the ambulance.

"Good luck. Hopefully I won't have to see you again soon." Chloe winked before disappearing, the ambulance driving off towards a hospital.

"Henrik, are you here?" Sam called out as he pulled a small device out of his pocket, the box emitting a high pitched squealing noise.

Schneep opened his mouth to answer before promptly closing it, remembering that Sam and Dean couldn't hear him.

"Gott verdammt." Schneep hissed in frustration as he looked around him, Sam and Dean falling silent when they breathed and saw their clouds of breath in the air even though it was warm outside.

"Alright Doc, I don't know where you are, but just hold on. I know you probably feel like giving up right now, but don't. Great reasoning, I know." Dean chuckled.

"Don't up, you gotta have a positive mental attitude. PMA!" Seán chimed in enthusiastically even though the Irishman still seemed confused by what was happening, Schneep rolling his eyes at the male with a light smirk.

"Vait..." Schneep walked over to a nearby car and touched the windshield, covering it in a thin sheet of ice.

"Perfect." Schneep grinned as he used a finger to write something in the ice, Seán's eyes wide in surprise while Sam and Dean watched the words slowly appear.

"I lived bitch." Sam read aloud with a snort of barely restrained laughter, Seán and Dean already losing it.

"Yep, that's Doc alright." Dean gasped in between fits of laughter, Schneep holding his head in his hands as the world grew dark around him.

"H-help me!" Schneep whimpered as he fell to his knees, the Sam and Dean explaining ghosts to Seán as Schneep's vision turned dark.

Gott verdammt: god dammit
