The young black fox dug her claws into the brown tree bark. She lifted her left paw up and dug her dirty white nails into the tree. She did the same thing with her right, followed by her back legs. She saw a thick branch and jumped onto it. She sat on the. Branch and waited.

           After 30 minutes of waiting, she got what she'd climbed for. A bird. Not too big but not small. "It'll be good enough for Adam and ma to eat" the she fox thought. She moved forward, getting closer and closer to the bird. Her right paw went down a little to hard on the branch. The bird turned its head to the fox it hadn't known was there before. It lifted itself off the branch and its gray and brown wing feathers catching wind strokes in the air. "No!" The black fox yipped and launched herself into the air. Her left paw claws hooked onto the birds wings. And as she begin to fall, the bird went with her. The fox landed on her side causing a painful blow to her ribs. She yelped out. She brought herself to her feet. She looked around for the bird. She saw it a few paces away. She jumped over to it. Looking at the bird she realized that it didn't survive the fall.

             With the bird in her jaws, she begin to carry it back to where her mother, and Adam we're. The black she fox raced across the soil. She reached there cave and walked in. She dropped the bird on the way. "Ma!" She called out "ma I caught dinner for you and Adam!"
Adam appeared around a corner. " Luna you home!" He barked happily. His black and tan fur seemed dirty. His blue eyes starred back at her. "Yep. I got you and ma a bird" she told him. His face lit up. "Really? Thanks! Wait what about you? What are you going to eat Lu?" He asked
"Oh, un.... I've already ate a mouse Adam." She lied. Adam nodded. "I'll go get mama" he said and trotted off.

        She watched her mother and her brother eat the bird. Silently praying to the goddess Artemis. "Thank you my lady Artemis. Thank you for letting me catch that bird for them. Thank you.
