#30: Chasing

A/N: Thirtieth chapter wooo! *throws confetti at you* hopefully I'll be able to get more chapters up in the next month. It's also been a year since I made this account (give or take a few) *more confetti* and since its summer I want to start writing more. Like a lot more. And the name Glitterbutt came from my tumblr followers when we tried to come up with names for the new Alicorn baby, so there's the story behind that. So without further adieu, le one shot

"Hey Foster! Wanna go to the Sanctuary? Check up on old Glitterbutt and violent Glitterbutt with their Glitterbaby?" Keefe said as he caught up with Sophie in the hall on the way to the leapmasters.

"Sure, why not. We should check up on the baby anyways" Sophie said. Keefe took her hand, and Sophie's heart did the fluttery thing. Her cheeks felt hot and she was sure they were crimson red.

"Is this another round of the 'Make Sophie Blush' game? Because I've been the winner of that game since the first day we met" Keefe said. Sophie reminisced to that day. She had been kicked out of Lady Galvin's Alchemy session, and got lost in the hallways trying to find Elwin's office. She had found Keefe laying on a bench with his arms behind his head, and they walked to the Healing Center together. She had originally thought he was cute and cool. She still thought that, and he probably knew at this point, considering the many times he teased her about her fan club or her having a crush on him. He always seemed to be joking, but lately she wasn't sure.

They walked the rest of the way to the Leapmasters while Keefe talked about a huge prank story. Sophie had hoped he'd tell her about The Great Gulon Incident at one point or another, but after two and a half years, he still denied any association to it.

They eventually made it to the Leapmasters, and waited in line, their hands still laced. They got a few stares and whispers, probably because the girls were bitter that they couldn't have Keefe. Some of the boys were whispering as well, though Sophie figured they were also whispering about Keefe. The chances of that we're far higher than the chances of them whispering about her.

When the line shortened, it was finally their turn to leap.

"Havenfield!" Sophie yelled. They walked into the light together and appeared at Havenfield where Grady was riding Verdi with green feathers sticking up in his hair in random places. Sophie loved to see him so at ease, doing something he loves, with a huge smile on his face, and his hearty laugh echoing around the whole estate. Sophie could tell he really loved Verdi, and seeing him with her was a sight Sophie loved to see everyday when she got home.

Keefe and Sophie walked into the enormous mansion, though it was nothing compared to Everglen and Candleshade. There were three floors, Sophie's room took up the entire third floor, with a Leapmaster on the roof. But Everglen was a castle. It was a place made fit for a king, which Alden pretty much was.

They found Edaline in the kitchen, baking something, with ingredients appearing and disappearing everywhere. The powers of a conjurer were amazing, Sophie imagined it made a lot of things easier, including being lazy. But Edaline wasn't lazy at all. She was always moving, either baking, cooking, shopping, caring for the animals, being with friends, planning things, etc... It was always mayhem at Havenfield, with the occasional animal noise from outside.

"Hey Edaline, what're you baking over there?" Keefe asked. Edaline turned around with a sweet smile on her face, and grabbed a rag to clean her hands off.

"I'm making custard bursts. They should be done in a few minutes of you want one" Edaline said.

"I guess we can stay for a bit" Sophie said. She and Keefe thanked Edaline in advance and went up to Sophie's room.

"So, anything new in the Mysterious Miss F's life I should know about?" Keefe asked once they had closed the door. He had his mischievous smirk on his face that made Sophie's brain turn to mush.

"Not really. But I have been practicing a new telepathy trick. Want to see?" Sophie said. Keefe smiled and nodded. Sophie took out one of her new projection journals and opened it to a blank page. She put her hands on her temples and......

Threw a pillow at Keefe with telekinesis. She burst out laughing at his reaction, then squeaked out a light scream when Keefe threw one at her. It turned into a full fledged pillow fight, but then they noticed the custard bursts appear on Sophie's desk and ran over to devour them. Once they were done, Sophie threw another pillow at Keefe, and he ran out the door. Sophie chased him down the stairs and out the front door, until Keefe turned around and started chasing her back into the house. Sophie screamed playfully again and ran back into the house, catching a glimpse of Edaline's smug face while she watched them. They ran up the stairs and onto the roof to go to the Leapmaster, then Keefe caught her. He bear hugged her from behind, and kissed her cheek. Sophie's eyes widened as she realized what exactly he had just done. She turned around to look him in the face.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have done that without your permission. Wow I'm a jerk" Keefe said. But Sophie shook her head and interrupted him by placing her lips on his. She felt him sink into the kiss, and was grateful for it. They stayed there for what seemed like forever, but in reality was probably thirty seconds. Keefe's cheeks were tinted pink, and Sophie's own cheeks were burning. They stayed holding each other and staring at each other for probably ten seconds, then heard footsteps on the stairs.

"Are you guys okay? I didn't hear a command but you stopped talking!" Edaline yelled from the second floor.

"We're fine mom!" Sophie said, not looking away from Keefe's eyes. The moment was too good to let go. Edaline's footsteps went back downstairs, and Sophie shouted the command for the sanctuary. They held hands, stepped into the light, and went to check on the new Alicorn baby.
