Where we Stand
And here we are. The final chapter for volume 3 of my RWBY series. That last chapter literally left me on the edge of my seat as I was writing it. It was so intense and I already knew what was going to happen. And now.. it's all over. We'll be moving on to volume 4 after this. And things are going to get much more difficult from here. Not in terms of writing or thinking of the story to write, but in terms of character development and interactions. Things will be far from the same as they were before. Obviously Drake must deal with his Grimm side, Leena is in a coma, and Amber and Temair are essentially crushed under all the emotions. But you know that they say, you can only keep pushing forward from here. Enjoy!
-Point of View: Amber- -Time Skip: 5 Days-
A few days later, everything had finally started to slow down. Everyone was able to safely evacuate from Beacon... except for Professor Ozpin and all those we lost. As far as we knew, Ozpin wasn't dead... but he was missing. No one knew of his whereabouts. All our other teachers made it out though and are helping the injured around Vale. And as for my friends... it's w hole different story. Team CFVY has gone to Vacuo where they'll be attending Shade academy. The remaining members of team JNPR all came together and are helping out the teachers. But in terms of my closest friends... it's honestly saddening to even think of everything that's happened. "Blake disappeared after the attack and ran away without warning. Sun came to Temair alone and had asked him to come along so they can find her. He agreed and the two quickly picked up on her trail. Temair sent me the message of what he'll be doing and he finished it with "Don't worry. I'll be alright. I promise we'll see each other again soon." But hearing him say that only made me worry even more. Weiss, after the Grimm were somewhat cleared out of Beacon, was taken away by her father. He had come to take her home to Atlas where he believes it will be safe. And even though I don't like the idea, she took Drake along with her. She was able to find him unconscious during the battle and take him to safety. She was able to convince her father to take him with them and now his condition is unknown to me. I just hope he was able to get better. And as for the rest of us: Myself, Yang, Ruby, and Leena... we've come to Ruby and Yang's home on the island of Patch off of Vale. Ruby's uncle Qrow was able to find her unconscious at the top of Beacon tower. He brought her to safety but she hasn't woken up yet. Yang was able to regain consciousness but her condition is... tragic. And as for Leena, she's still in a coma. And at this point, her vital signs are low. Her brain activity is slim to none. Ruby and Yang's dad, Taiyang, did everything he could to try and heal her. And now we just have to hope she makes it through all this.
And as for me, I've been helping around their home. It pains me to just stand around and do nothing so i'm doing everything I can to make even the slightest difference. I was currently chopping down a dead tree just outside of the house when I heard Taiyang yell, "You're awake!" I stopped what I was doing and I ran into the house and went upstairs. I entered Ruby's room and saw she was sitting up. "Oh my gosh, you're okay!" I said as I stood in the doorway, almost crying at the sight of her awake. "What.... happened?" Ruby asked us. "Your uncle Qrow found you unconscious. He got you outta there though; he brought you home safe." Taiyang explained as Ruby put her head down. "Wait! Yang! Is she alright!" Ruby asked. "She's fine. She's awake now. But... she's just gonna need... some time to get used to things. But I know her, and I know she's too strong to let this stop her." I said to Ruby as she went silent. Both myself and Taiyang put our heads down and let out some heavy sighs. I started to feel tears coming from my eyes. "I'm just glad to have my girls back at home." Taiyang said as he wiped some tears from his eyes. Ruby then looked at me and said "What about Leena? And Drake? What happened to them? Are they okay?" "Leena's here too. But her condition is critical. She doesn't have a lot of brain activity now and we can't do anything to help her. Whatever made that wound on her eye, it went deep and punctured her brain." I explained as Ruby started to tear up. "And what about Drake? Is he here too?" Ruby asked me. "No. Weiss found him at the end of the battle. She was being taken back to Atlas by her father. And she took Drake with her so she can heal him. I just hope nothing bad happens to him out there." I said as Ruby wiped the tears from her eyes. "Well then what happened to the school!? And Vale? Were they able to clear out all the Grimm?" Ruby asked us.
"Things at Vale are under control. But the school? It's... it's not that simple. The wyvern Grimm... or whatever it is... doesn't seem to be dead. Don't get me wrong, you did a number on it. But... it's not disappearing. It's... kind of... frozen. Or petrified. I know that doesn't sound too bad but it keeps attracting more Grimm to the school." Taiyang explained but Ruby just looked confused. "I did... what? You said I did a number on it. What do you mean?" She asked. "I... Look, that's not important right now, we can talk about it later. Things are just... kind of a mess." Taiyang explained as someone started talking from behind me. "It's always a mess." The person said as I turned to see Qrow standing behind me. I let him into the room so he could keep talking. "Mind if we have a minute?" Qrow asked me and Taiyang. I was fine with leaving if he wanted to have a private conversation with Ruby. "What, I can't stay here?" Taiyang asked him, clearly wanting to stay with his daughter. "Tai. Please." Qrow said as Taiyang let out a sigh. Taiyang then stood up and kissed Ruby on her forehead. "I'm glad you're alright. I'll go make us all some tea. Do you mind helping me, Amber?" He asked me as I gave him a nod. Taiyang then left the room and I went to follow. But Qrow stopped me from leaving as he grabbed my right shoulder I looked at him and he said "Thank you for bringing my niece home safely." I gave him a smile and a nod and then I left the room so he and Ruby could have their private talk.
After a half an hour, I went back upstairs to see if Ruby and Qrow were finished. I found Ruby standing in the doorway to Yang's room. I had some tea for her but I knew this wasn't the time if she was talking to her sister. I put down the tea and stood by Ruby. We both walked into the room to see Yang. I actually hadn't seen her yet because I was told to just give her some space for now. "Yang?" Ruby said as we could see Yang was sitting up, looking out her bed side window. What was left of her right arm was completely bandaged up. And next to her bed, in another was Leena. She laid still in her bed, with bandages covering her eyes. She was barely breathing at all and just the sight of her made me nearly cry. But as Yang didn't respond to Ruby, we both decided to leave her alone. And as we went into the doorway, we both heard "Ruby..." We turned and saw Yang looking at us, tears in her eyes. Ruby walked over and gave her sister a hug as I just stood in the background. "I'm so glad you're okay." Ruby said as she buried her face into Yang's shoulder. "But i'm not." Yang said as Ruby let go of her. "It's all gone. The school... Penny... Pyrrha... And..." Yang began to say as she stopped and looked at her right arm. "Yang, I heard about what happened to Weiss. Do you know what happened to Blake?" Ruby asked her as Yang suddenly grew angry. "Blake ran!" Yang said. Ruby was taken back by this a bit. I probably should've told her before. "Sun saw her go. After we got to the city... she just... ran!" Yang said as I walked up to Ruby. "But... why?" Ruby asked. "I don't know. And I don't care." Yang said as she turned away from us. "There has to be a reason sh-" Ruby began to say but Yang cut her off. "No, there doesn't! Sometimes, bad things just happen, Ruby!" Yang said as I put my right hand on Ruby's shoulder. "I'm sure wherever she is, she's safe. Temair and Sun have gone in search for her. I give you my word that they'll bring her back." I said to Ruby as she just looked at me. She didn't say a word though. She then looked back at Yang and then put her head back down. "So, what do we do now?" Ruby asked as Yang looked away from us again. "You can do whatever you want. I'm just gonna lie here." Yang said as she looked at her arm again. Ruby went to reach out and she said "Yang..." But Yang didn't look back and said "Just leave me alone." Me and Ruby looked at each other and then we decided to leave the room. "I... I love you." Ruby said to Yang but she got no response. We then left Yang alone.
After we left Yang and Leena, Ruby pulled me into a closet so we could talk in private. "Look, i'm sorry for everything that's happened. I wish you and all the rest of my friends and family didn't get involved in this. But I may know of a way to make it all better." Ruby explained as I grew curious. "And what would that be?" I asked her. "Don't let him know... but my uncle Qrow told me that the enemies trail goes all the way to Haven, in Mistral." Ruby said as I clicked in. "And you wanna go there and take down the enemy? Why am I not surprised?" I said as I shook my head at her. "I wouldn't do it alone. I know people who will help. People who I know will stand by me and fight by my side." Ruby said as I knew exactly who she was referring to. "You're right. They probably will help you. But why tell me this? What if I told Taiyang about this? He'd stop you for sure." I said to Ruby as she just looked at me. "I know you won't tell him. You're a better person than that, Amber. I know you'll always be there to help out a friend. So i'm asking you, as a friend, please come with me to Haven." Ruby asked as I sighed. "I've gotten so used to taking orders from Drake. And now that he's not here, I have no leader to follow. I don't know what to say." I said as Ruby put her hands on my shoulders. "Then ask yourself this... What would Leena do?" Ruby said as I gave her a nod. "Okay.... okay. So what's your plan, then?" I asked. "We can't just leave now. We've gotta wait for the right time, no matter how long it may take. Just be ready." Ruby said as I gave her a nod. We then exited the closet and went downstairs for some tea and cookies.
-Time Skip: 1 Month-
The Winter season had arrived and there was now a light amount of snow covering the ground. And today... today was the day me and Ruby would head out to Haven. We had everything we needed packed up, our weapons, clothes, food, etc. Ruby had made the call to our helpers and they said that they arrived and were waiting outside. I left a note by Leena's bed, hoping she would read it when, and if, she woke up. Me and Ruby then sneaked our way outside and met our helpers. Jaune, Ren, and Nora were all there waiting for us. "Hey, guys." We both said. We walked up to them and greeted each other. "Haven's a long way to go, you know." Ruby said. "I know. But it's the only lead we have." Jaune said as he gave Ruby a face full of determination. "Are you sure you all want to come along?" I asked them. "The journey will be perilous, and whether we'll find the answers at the end is entirely uncertain." Ren said as Nora stepped in. "But we wouldn't be here if we weren't up for it." Nora said. "Then let's get started." Ruby said as the five of us headed into the unknown. What awaited us in the future... one could say it would be fate that we meet. And as we head off to Haven, only one question laid in my mind. "What are we gonna find in my homeland?"
