The Land of Anima

And so, we've finally made it to volume 4. I hope you've all enjoyed my telling of the story from team DLTA's point of view. All the crazy stuff that's happened, especially during the battle of Beacon literally kept me on the edge of my own seat as I was writing it. It was a wild ride just to get here. But in my opinion, this is where Ruby begins to fall off the map in terms of entertainment. Now, i'm not saying that's discouraging me from not doing this series anymore. I'm just saying that in terms of the actual RWBY series. And hopefully, team DLTA can make things more action packed and intense as they've done before. So here we go. Enjoy!

-Time Skip: 6 Months- -Point of View: Amber-

Well, the journey was longer than expected but me, Ruby, Jaune, Ren, and Nora were finally able to make it to the continent of Anima. Everyday we would get one step closer to making it to Mistral and its Huntsmen academy, Haven. The five of us had currently traveled through the south of the continent and we were about halfway through the northern half. In the months that had passed, everyone grew quite a bit. Other than Jaune, we had all ditched our old clothes and got some new, stylish outfits. Ruby still had her red cape but she now wore a black and white battle dress. Nora had slightly grown her hair longer and she now wore a black jacket and pink skirt to compliment her white battle outfit. Ren had greatly grown his hair, with it reaching all the way down his back. And as for me, my hair and fox ears grew too. My red hair now went down to the middle of my back, my ears had grown to nearly double the length too. And as for my new clothes, I wore black, slightly ripped yoga pants, a black sports bra and a green flight jacket with the sleeves torn off. I usually kept it opened up. But whether we looked different or not, we had all changed. We've pushed past the events that haunted us from before and now we're moving forward to our goals with confidence. And i'm not gonna lie, it does hurt to think of the rest of the members of team DLTA, and even Weiss and Blake, but I just have to hope they're all having the same luck we are currently. The five of us recently stopped in a small village where we could restock on some supplies and maybe get some weapon upgrades. Thankfully for us, the village was very welcoming and they agreed to supply us. The blacksmith in the village even upgraded Ruby and Nora's weapons. And, he was currently working on mine and Jaune's weapons. Ren was fine without the upgrades, or so he says. However, in return, if we wanted all this stuff from the village, we had to do a job for them. As told by the village elder, a single Grimm had been lurking around the village for a few weeks now. All we had to do was get rid of it. The Grimm was known as a Geist and it could possess any non-living object like a puppet. We searched around for a few days but we were finally able to locate our target.

Ruby had gone off into the forest to lure the Geist out and the four of us were just waiting for it to appear. "Are you two sure you can do this without any weapons?" Nora asked me and Jaune. "I'll be fine. I've got my semblance to back me up. And Jaune... what exactly are you gonna do?" I asked him. "I'll be giving orders. Ruby did say I was the strategist after all." He said. "We mustn't doubt the word of our team leader. If she has faith in you being our strategist, then we all should as well." Ren said as I agreed with him. And yes, we all decided that since this is Ruby's quest, she should be team leader. And after a while of discussing it, we finally came up with our team name. We called ourselves team RANJR(Ranger). We all felt pretty good about it and it's something that just rolls off the tongue. And in no time, we all began to feel the ground starting to shake. "Get ready, guys. It'll be here soon." Jaune said as we stood at the edge of a tree line for an open space in the forest. The shaking was becoming much more violent and all the birds in the area began to fly away. We all looked up to a cliff where Ruby headed off to and we saw her appear. Only she was definitely not alone. Ruby soared out of the trees on the cliff using her semblance and right behind her was the Geist. It had possessed some boulders and it had brought them together to make a body. It swung its huge rock arm at Ruby but she was able to dodge it and fall over the side of the cliff. The Geist was a bit clumsy, we found out, as we saw it fall after Ruby, tumbling into the open space where we were. Ruby managed to slow her fall using her scythe to hook onto some trees and then land next to us. "Glad to see you could join us." Jaune said to Ruby. "I could use some help, taking it down." Ruby said as she took off again, firing at the Geist as it began to stand up. "Ren, Nora, go after her! Aim high!" Jaune ordered as they gave him some nods. Ren swiftly jumped up a nearby tree and Nora used her grenade launcher to launch herself into the air. She also landed in a tree and she began to fire at the Geist which was busy trying to hit Ruby.

"Amber, go for its legs! If we can get it to fall over, it might leave it open long enough for us to take it down!" Jaune ordered me. "You got it! Just take cover! I don't wanna hit you and I certainly don't want you to get hit by that thing!" I said, pointing to the Geist. "You got it! Give it everything you've got!" Jaune said as he ran back into the trees. When he was out of the way, I activated my semblance. My body began to glow with a white outline and I could feel my strength increasing immensely. Over the months of travelling to Mistral, I was able to improve my semblance by increasing my overall strength when I used it. I used to be able to increase my strength by about 12x my normal strength. Now it's nearly 20x. I used my semblance and I reached out with both of my hands, grabbing onto a 3ft wide, 50ft tall tree. I dug my fingers into the tree and I began to slowly lift the tree and its roots right out of the ground. After a few seconds, I lifted the entire tree into the air and I turned to face the Geist. Nora was blowing up parts of its back with her grenade launcher and Ruby was speeding around it with her semblance. Ren threw one of his weapons like a boomerang, hitting the Geist's face which stuck out of a boulder. He caught his weapon and we watched as the Geist fell over onto its back. But it didn't stay down for long as it climbed back up to its feet. "Do it, Amber!" Jaune yelled to me as I swung the large tree in my hands. I smashed the tree into the Geist's legs and I blew them off, sending the rocks flying into the forest. But the tree snapped when I struck the Geist so I couldn't used it anymore. But the Geist did fall over again and it landed on its front, holding itself up with its arms.

The Geist let out a loud moaning sound and soon the ground began to shake again. Appearing from the earth were more boulders which attached to the bottom of the Geist's body. It stood up again and it tried to slam its arm down onto me. I reached up and grabbed the arm, stopping all of its momentum as I held it in place. "Nora! Smash it!" I yelled to her as she jumped down from her tree. "You got it!" She said as she morphed her grenade launcher into its hammer mode. She leaped over, swinging her hammer over her head. When she was close enough, she brought the hammer down and smashed the arm I was holding to pieces. The Geist stumbled backwards and it let out another moan. But instead of using more boulders to make a new arm, it went for a different approach. It shot out its real arm and it reached into the tree I used to hit it before. The Geist now attached it to its rock body, making the tree its new arm. "It's arm is a tree! It's arm is a tree!" Jaune yelled in a panic as he ran back onto the scene. "Big mistake!" Ruby said as she stood beside him. I watched as she loaded her weapon with a magazine full of fire Dust bullets. She fired off a shot and struck the tree. But... it kinda made the situation even more worse. The tree caught on fire but it didn't turn to ashes. "BIG MISTAKE!!" Jaune said as the Geist tried to swing the burning tree at him. But as it began to swing the tree, Ren threw one of his weapons at the Geist again. He struck it in the face again and it caused the Geist to lose balance and fall over. This gave us a little bit of breathing room. The five of us quickly got together and discussed our next plan of attack. "It's body is too thick to break through." Ren said as we all agreed. "But it doesn't care about its body." Jaune added in. "Plus, it keeps adding new limbs." Nora said. "But it's protecting its face..." Jaune said quietly as I looked over to him. He was in deep thought about something. "We just can't break it!" Ruby said as the Geist was beginning to stand back up. "If we knocked all of its limbs off at once then went for the...!" Jaune began to say as he faced all of us. "Guys! I got it! We hit it... harder!" Jaune said as we all looked at him like he was stupid. "Is... that it?" I asked him. "No, seriously! It's trying to keep us from its face! If we kill the limbs, we'll have a shot to kill the whole thing!" Jaune explained as we all took ready positions. "Alright... Come on, team! Let's do this!" I said as everyone cheered with me.

"Ren, left! Ruby, right! Amber, go for it's legs and slow it down! And Nora... ready to try out the new upgrades?" Jaune said as we all gave him a nod. Ruby and Ren jumped back into the trees and I ran forward towards the Geist. I quickly looked back and saw Nora activate her new upgrade. The head of her hammer began to glow pink and sparks of lightning appeared around it. It was increasing in power every second. Meanwhile, Ruby and Ren were shooting at the Geist from all directions. The Geist attempted to swing its burning tree arm at them but it was way too slow. And since it had all of its attention on them, it allowed me to run right up to its legs. I tried my best not to get stepped as as I waited for a good moment to grab its legs. I didn't have to wait long because for a quick moment, the Geist brought both of its legs together. I activated my semblance and I grabbed both of the Geist's legs. It tried to reach down and hit me with its arms but it wasn't able to reach me. I gave it every ounce of strength I had but I managed to lift the Geist off of the ground and hold it in place in the air. "Ruby! Nora! Now! Do it!" I yelled as I saw Ruby give me a nod from a distance. I then watched as she used her semblance to bolt over to behind Nora. She then used her semblance again, picking up Nora and speeding them both straight for the Geist. The Geist tried to hit them but Ruby easily dodged the attack and got them both close enough. Nora swung her hammer with all her might, colliding it with the main body of the Geist. With that one swing, she blasted apart all of the limbs the Geist had. All that was left was the original boulder the Geist possessed with its face sticking out. But that didn't last long as the Geist left the boulder, revealing its black, ghost-like appearance. It began to flee from the area, floating off into the deep forest. "Ruby... take it out." I said as she took aim with her sniper scythe. She fired off a single shot and we all watched as it struck the Geist in the face. With that one shot, Ruby managed to kill the Geist, its body disappearing into nothing. "Woohoo! We did it!" Nora cheered as she ran over to Ren and tackled him. "Nice job, everyone! Let's head back to the village and tell them the news!" Jaune said as we all agreed.

When we returned to the village, we met with the elder. "We truly can't thank you all enough for this." The elder said as he shook hands with Ruby. "Just doing our job, sir." Ruby said. "That Geist had been plaguing our village for weeks. We were beginning to wonder if we'd have to relocate." The elder explained. "Well, we are on our way to Mistral... You could always come along with us if you don't feel safe." Ruby suggested. "...I take it you're not from these parts... Anima is a large continent. I'm afraid our people would never survive the long trek to Mistral. It may be safer in the kingdoms, but we prefer our way of life. I just wish we could pay you more for your duty." The elder explained as we all looked to each other. "Our previous arrangement is more than sufficient." Ren said as we all bowed to the elder. We then left him and headed over to the blacksmith's shop. Me and Jaune had to see how our weapons were doing. When we showed up, the blacksmith said he had everything ready for us. "I'll get the lad's stuff first." He said as he went into the back of his shop. He came back out and he was holding a new armor chest plating for Jaune. "There you go, son! It's gonna be a bit heavier than you're used to, but you'll thank me the next time you go against a set of claws." The blacksmith explained. "Wow... um... I don't know what to say." Jaune said, scratching the back of his head. "Don't gotta say anything! Just put it on! I'll go get the rest of your stuff." The blacksmith said encouragingly as he went into the back again. We all then looked at Jaune and saw him remove his old chest plates. "Guess I was... gonna grow out of it eventually..." Jaune said as he looked down at his new armor. "A sign of progress." I said as Jaune turned around to face us. But before he could say anything, Ruby began to laugh. I don't blame her, because I hadn't realized it either. The hoodie that Jaune always wears under his armor had a picture of a bunny on it. "What is that!?" Ruby asked while laughing. "What!? My hoodie? I've always had this." Jaune said. "It's got a cute little bunny wabbit on it!" Ruby said as she started to laugh even more. "It's Pumpkin Pete! You know, from the cereal?" Jaune explained as I started to giggle now. "What'd you do, send in a box top for a prize!?" Ruby asked. "Yeah, 50 of them!" Jaune explained as me and Ruby lost it. We were dying from laughter and Ruby actually fell over onto her back. "Well... I suppose we don't have to grow out of everything." Ren said as the blacksmith returned. He laid Jaune's sword down on the counter and he placed it in his shield. "Can't have a Huntsman without his weapon! Made all the modifications you asked for. That was some fine metal you brought me. Accents the white colours nicely. Where'd you get it from?" The blacksmith asked Jaune as we saw Jaune put his head down. "From a friend..." He said as we knew he was referring to Pyrrha. "I can tell a lot has happened to you all, and i'm sorry for everything. But, we're still not done here! I've gotta get the little lady her weapons too! Give me just a second, be right back." The blacksmith said as I walked up to the counter. Jaune raised his head back up and put on his new armor. He then attached his shield and sword to his left arm and unsheathed his sword. He was getting a close look at it and we all saw the blade was so shiny and clean.

"He cleans up alright, don't ya think?" The blacksmith said as he came out of the back. "He certainly does." Ren said as Jaune put away his sword and shield. "I still think a grenade launcher would've really brought the look together." Nora suggested as we all just giggled. "Now for the little lady, your weapon was a bit more tricky. But, I was able to complete all the upgrades you asked for." The blacksmith said as he handed me my two weapons. My weapons, which I liked to call "Caliburns" didn't look any different at the moment, but if the blacksmith really had done all the upgrades I asked for, then they were certainly more powerful than before. "Your weapons can now used different types of Dust. They've been modified to shoot fire, ice, electricity, and explosive Dust. Furthermore, your blades can wield the attribute of Dust too, increasing your striking power. And lastly, when your blades are extended out with their chains, the chains themselves will glow if Dust is loaded into the weapon. Their chains will then strike with whatever element of Dust is loaded. And... before you go, little lady..." The blacksmith said as he ducked under the counter. I could hear him searching for something, moving around some pieces of metal. He eventually came back up and he held something out to me. "I think these will help you out too. After you told me what your semblance was, I thought these would add a little extra damage to your attacks." The blacksmith said as he handed me a pair of leather gloves. "Wow, thank you, sir! I really appreciate everything you've done!" I said as he started to scratch the back of his head. "Ah, it was nothing. You kids are the ones we should all be thanking." The blacksmith said. I sheathed my weapons on the sides of my waste and I slipped on the leather gloves. I then walked back over the my friends and we looked at each other. "Nothing's gonna stop team RANJR now!" Ruby said as we all cheered with her. "You kids sure you won't stick around? You've been real good to this town." The blacksmith asked. "Sorry, we've got our own mission though." Ruby explained. "Make it to Haven academy, no matter what!" Nora said, raising her fists into the air. "We heard the next village over has a working airship." Ren added in. "Hmm... No way to know for sure. The scroll signals were bad enough out here even when Beacon tower was still up. Haven't heard from Shion village in a while." The blacksmith explained. " Well... there's only one way to find out! Let's go, team!" Ruby said as we began to leave the blacksmith shop. We waved goodbye to the blacksmith and then left.

Shortly after, we left the village and headed down the path to the next village. It would most likely take us another day to get there though. "Food?" Jaune asked. "Check!" Nora answered as they went down the list of our supplies. "Water?" Jaune asked. "Check!" Nora said. "How 'bout ammo?" Jaune asked. "Locked and loaded! Thank you, Schnee Dust Company!" Nora said which made both me and Ruby put our heads down. It was clear Ruby was thinking about Weiss, and I guess I was no different because I was thinking about Drake. I just wanted to know, even if it was just the tiniest bit of information that he was ok. I'm sure I would see him again, and i'm sure Ruby would reunite with Weiss too. "Got the map?" Jaune asked Nora as she started to look around. This brought me and Ruby back to reality. "Uhh... Ren's got it!" Nora said. "No I don't. You have it." Ren said. "Guys, please tell me you're joking?" Jaune nervously asked. "Ah hah hah... um... nope." Nora said as Jaune started to get worried. "Relax, guys. Shion village is actually where I grew up before heading to Vale. I know the way from here." I said as Jaune let out a sigh of relief. "At least we have someone who knows the land." He said as we continued down the path towards the village I was born in. But as interesting or exciting as it was for my friends... it was actually more worrying for me. If we went there and found my family, it would actually be nice to see my mother. But my father... just what would he think of me now?
