The Fox and The Monkey
And now we'll begin the one-on-one round of the tournament. Amber was the most logical choice to move on to this round, seeing as she is the strongest member of team DTLA. Note that I said "strongest" and not the "best." Also, i'm sure you can figure out who her opponent will be based on the title of this chapter. Or, you know, the gif above. I've been planning this since the beginning of volume 2 and I can't wait to do this battle. I was a little disappointed that we didn't get to see Sun fight in the final round but with everything that went on prior, it more than made up for it. However, I've obviously decided to put him and Amber before everyone else, giving you one epic fight to open the final round. Enjoy!
-Point of View: Amber- -Time Skip: 1 Day-
The next day had arrived. Everyone had to wait for the night to arrive before the one-on-one round of the tournament began. All of my teammates wanted me to go in with a plan for my first match but it was decided, after much convincing, that I would go into the first round with my own plan. I wanted to prove that I could still win without anyone's help. All my teammates seemed to agree with me and let me do it. I was going to put on a real show. And in no time, the night arrived. Me and my teammates headed into the colosseum where they wished me luck. I then left the because all remaining fighters were to meet in the centre of the arena. There were eight of us left, and looking at some of my possible opponents, this wasn't going to be easy at all. Yang was chosen from team RWBY, Pyrrha from JNPR, Penny, Mercury, and even Sun was here. The last two fighters also looked tough. One was from Atlas and the other was from Vacuo. We all lined up in the centre of the arena and we waved to the crowd. Everyone was going nuts, some people even cheered our names. It was a actually kind of intimidating. I looked out into the crowd, trying to find my teammates. It didn't take long though. Every team who still had a member in the tournament received V.I.P seats right up front. I saw my team was sitting next to team RWBY. And it looked like Yang saw them all too. She was waving in their direction. We stood next to each other and then looked at each other. We started laughing and then we gave a fist bump to each other. "If I have to fight you... No hard feeling when I win, right?" I jokingly said to Yang as she laughed even more. "We'll see. I can't promise I won't hold my punches." She said as she began to stretch her arms.
"Now, for the moment you've all been waiting for! It's the one-on-one finals!" Professor Port shouted as the crowd went crazy. The whole colosseum was filled with loud roars from the fans, it was almost deafening. "Barty, how about you explain the rules!?" Port asked Oobleck as he stepped in. "Uhh, it's quite simple, Peter! Instead of a bracket system, each round of the finals will be randomly determined immediately before the match takes place!" Oobleck began to explain as Port jumped back in. "Much like any good hunt, there will be zero time to prepare!" Port said. "Ah, yes, yes! Now let's see who our first match will be!" Oobleck said as the screens around the colosseum began to rotate through pictures of all the remaining combatants. We all waited anxiously to see who was going to get the chance to fight first. And our waiting came to an end when one of the fighters was revealed. "From Haven, it's Sun Wukong! And his opponent will be...?" Port began to say as the other set of images slowed down to reveal the second fighter. I was excited to see who was chosen. "From Beacon, it's Amber Lisa!" Oobleck said as I looked over to Sun. He gave me a wink and a smile and I gave him a thumbs up. "Would all other combatants please leave the stage!" Port said as the other six fighters left the arena. Only me and Sun stayed. The centre battlefield we were standing on then started to rise up, becoming isolated from the outer section of the battlefield. "Looks like there'll be nowhere to run this time." I thought to myself as the stage lit up with spotlights. I faced Sun and he did the same, taking out his gunchucks and putting them together into a large staff. I did the same as I took out my two weapons and held them in my hands. "Sorry if I hurt you, Sun. I can't promise I won't go easy on you." I said with a small chuckle. "Even though you're a girl and a Faunus like me, I won't be holding back. This is gonna be a wild ride." He said to me as he gave me a big smile. I did the same as we waited patiently for the match to begin.

"3... 2... 1... BEGIN!!!" Port screamed as the whole crowd went silent. Neither me or Sun made a move. I was going to wait to see what he'd do first, and I guess he had the same idea. But if he wasn't going to do anything, then I guess i'll be the one to make the first move. I threw my weapons away from me and started walking over to Sun with my fists ready. Sun looked pretty surprised when I did this and he stepped back a bit. "What's this!? It seems Ms. Lisa has chosen not to fight using her weapons! She's going in with only her fists and her skills!" Oobleck said as the crowd started to go crazy again. "Well, i'll say I wasn't expecting that. But it wasn't a smart move. You've left yourself defenseless." Sun said to me as I kept walking over to him. "If i'm so defenseless, then why are you the one who's backing up?" I asked as he let out a chuckle. "Fair point. Let's change that then!" Sun said as he rushed me. He spun his staff around in his hands a bit before swinging it at my left side. I quickly ducked underneath and slid behind him. I then swiped my right leg underneath him and caused him to fall on his back. I quickly got back up onto both of my feet and I went to punch Sun as he was still on the ground. I drove my fist down at him but he used his hands to flip himself back up and narrowly dodge my attack. He then broke apart his staff back into the gunchucks and he started shooting at me. I started to run around Sun, just barely dodging his shots. I kept on running until an opening would appear, and after a few seconds, it did. Sun ran out of ammo in his gunchucks which allowed me to move in for another attack.
Sun attached his gunchucks together again but this time he made two smaller staffs. He began twirling them around as I ran straight for him. When I got close enough, Sun thrusted the staff in his right hand forward. I side-stepped and capitalized on this opening. I grabbed his wrist and pulled it past me, making Sun lose balance. I then did a quick flip and I struck Sun in the back of the neck with my left leg. I made him fall over but he got back up in a second. "You're a much smaller target than what i'm used to. That's why I can't seem to get in a hit." Sun said to me as I just started laughing. "Sure it is..." I said as he withdrew his weapon. "Well... Maybe what I need is more of me then." Sun said as he clapped his hands together. His body began to glow with a yellow outline. And then, appearing from his body were two clones made out of light. They did some flips before standing next to the actual Sun. "Get her, boys!" Sun said as his two clones ran for me. I did the same as I went to strike the one on my right. I did a flip and landed behind me. My attention was on it for too long though as the second clone was able to hit me in the back with its leg. I stumbled forward but I was able to stay on my feet. The real Sun then ran over and grabbed my left arm. With one hard pull, he threw me into the air. One of his clones then jumped onto the shoulders of the other and jumped after me. I intercepted me in the air and hit me back down to the ground with an axe-kick. I landed on my back hard and it took me a couple of seconds to stand back up. I brushed off the dust from my clothes and then readied myself to attack Sun again. "Those clones do make it more complicated to hit the actual Sun... but I've got a trick up my sleeve too." I thought to myself as I started to run at Sun again.
"You're way too predictable, Amber! You're never gonna beat me if you just keep rushing in like this!" Sun said as he sent his two clones at me. The one on my left went to hit me first, flipping into the air and readying its leg to strike me. The second went for a sliding kick, looking like it was gonna try and trip me after being hit by the first attack. As fast as I could, I jumped in between them and rolled back onto my feet when I landed. Sun was now wide open as his two clones were both behind me. I ran right up to him and I went to punch him in the chest. He side-stepped but I followed it up by spinning around and hitting him on his left side with my other fist. He stumbled a bit but he stayed on his feet. "You're quick, i'll tell ya that! But if you can make it past two of my clones, then let's see how you do when there's 4!" Sun said as he activated his semblance again. His body glowed with that yellow outline again and he made two more light clones from his body. They both jumped over me and lined up with the other two that Sun had made. "If it's 5-on-1, then i'd say I don't have a chance at winning. But that's only if I kept on fighting like this." I said to Sun as he looked at me curiously. "What do you mean?" He asked me. "I mean it's time for me to lay out my trump card. I'm about to even the odds." I said as I activated my own semblance. My body started glowing with its white outline and I could feel the strength flowing into my body. "If you think you can still beat me... then bring it on." I said in a serious tone to Sun.
Sun simply cracked his knuckles and ran at me. His 4 light clones did the same, rushing at me from 5 different angles. I ran for one of the clones first. I went to hit me with a roundhouse kick but I was able to reach out and grab its leg, not even making me flinch. I then continued to throw it around me, hitting Sun and the rest of his clones away from me. I then slammed the clone in my hand on the ground and it disappeared. "These things must vanish when they take a certain amount of damage." I thought as I rushed towards the other clones. Two of them also ran at me, both of them jumping into the air. They both came down and simultaneously tried to hit me with some axe-kicks. I stepped back before I could get hit and they struck the ground, cracking it a bit. I then made my move by crashing my right fist into the ground in front of them. I shattered parts of the concrete floor, causing debris to go flying everywhere. I then reached down and picked up a slab of concrete. I proceeded to swing it around, hitting the two clones that were in front of me. I sent them flying into the air and I watched as they both disappeared. Only one other clone and Sun himself were remaining. I dropped the slab of concrete and continued to run for Sun. Sun was able to refill the ammo in his weapons and he started to shoot at me again. I kept pushing forward though. When I used my semblance, I took very little physical damage, so him shooting at me wasn't much of a problem. His clone went ahead and went for a sliding kick. I saw it coming and I jumped over it before it could hit me. I landed right behind it but I didn't keep on running over to Sun. Instead, I reached behind me and grabbed the head of the light clone. I then swung it over me with all my strength, sending it flying into Sun. The clone disappeared and Sun fell over onto his back.
I then rushed for Sun as he was completely defenseless now. He scrambled to get back onto his feet and he managed to do so. But I was mere feet from him now, with my fists ready to strike. "Oh crap! Last chance!" Sun yelled as he clapped his hands together, activating his semblance. He made another light clone right in front of him as I threw my left fist forward. Sun was probably expecting the clone to shield him from my attack, but that was not the case at all. I broke right through the clone and kept my fist moving forward. I smashed it into Sun's face and I sent him flying from the impact. He flew right out of the arena, landing on the floor below the hovering main stage. The final buzzer then went off around the arena. "What a way to kick off the finals! Sun Wukong is eliminated by ring-out and aura depletion! Amber Lisa is victorious!" Port announced as the whole stadium went ballistic. I deactivated my semblance and I fell to my knees. I took some deep breaths too because that fight took everything from me. "Cut it just a bit too close. I think I neared the limit of my semblance." I thought to myself as the main stage lowered back down so I could get off of it. I looked to the stands as it was doing that. I saw my team and team RWBY were up on their feet cheering for me. Blake looked the least happiest but I didn't blame her. Sun was a close friend of hers after all. I waved to them as I left the stage. I walked over to Sun who was still laying on his back on the ground. "Need a hand?" I asked him as he started coughing. "That's it... i'm never... fighting a girl again." He jokingly said as he reached for my hand. I pulled him up to his feet and then we both waved to the crowd around us. "You put up a good fight, Sun. Better luck next time." I said as he gave me a light punch on my right arm. "Next time, i'll be the one on top." He said as we both walked out of the arena.
The two of us walked into the stands where we met my team and team RWBY. "Oh my gosh, you two were amazing! Sun, I thought you could only make 2 of your clones!?" Ruby energetically asked. "4 is my max, but it uses up a large chunk of my aura. 2 is more of a safe amount if I want to use it." Sun explained as Drake walked up to me. He picked me up and gave me a huge hug, nearly squeezing the life out of me. "Now that was a fight! You were awesome out there! I can't wait to see how you do in your next match!" He said as he put me back down. Temair walked up and gave me a fist bump and Leena did the same. "Had a few close calls down there. It's a good thing you had that semblance, otherwise you might not have won." Leena said as she started laughing. I laughed with her and soon, everybody else joined in. "We saved you a seat. We figured you could stay here for now until the next 3 matches end." Weiss said as I gave her a nod. I sat next to Blake and Temair. "Sorry about knocking out Sun, Blake. I know he's your friend." I said to her as she let out a small chuckle. "It's fine. He may be a good fighter, but he's also a huge idiot sometimes. He could use a good butt-kicking every so often." Blake said to me which made me laugh. We finished up our conversation quickly because the next round of the one-on-one finals was about to begin. My only question was "who's next?" Will it be Yang? Penny? Pyrrha? Mercury? Well, whoever is up next to battle, it's sure to be a good one.
