Silver Eyes
Off to a good start. Decided to have our main characters be from Vacuo since it's the kingdom we all know the least about. Now we'll get into events that actually happen in the RWBY series. I feel like this series is off to a good start so far. The first official chapter felt really good to me, but that may be different for you, the reader. Who knows, i'm just talking to myself. I tend to do these "writer comments" at the start of every chapter. So get used to seeing them. I can't wait to get just a little bit further into this story. I can't wait to show off the members of team DLTA when they're formed. But for now, all you have to do is enjoy!
-Time Skip: 2 Days-
"We finally made it!" Leena yelled as she then let out a huge yawn. "You got that right. So this is Vale, huh? It's way different from Vacuo." I said as I looked into the horizon to see tall buildings and a forest full of trees. "I guess we're just used to seeing sand, sand, and more sand." Leena said as we got off the ship. "So where to now?" She asked me as I pointed down the harbor. She saw I was pointing at a ship that was floating above the water. "We have to get on another boat?" She said as she put her head down. I put my right hand in her hair and shook it up. "Hey it's fine. This one's different. It's an airship. It's gonna take us right to Beacon." I explained as Leena put her head back up. "Well why didn't you say so. Let's go before it takes off." She said as she began walking over to the airship, pulling me along with her. We boarded the ship and saw we were the only ones on it so far. "Jeez, I thought there'd be way more... um... people here." I said as Leena laughed at me. "Oh well. I'm sure we won't be the only ones." She said as a man appeared from the interior of the ship. "And you won't be the only ones. This is only our first stop. We'll have plenty more locations to drop by so we can pick up more new students. So get comfortable while you can. It's gonna get real crowded soon." The man said to us as he went back into the ship. We followed him inside and he showed us to a viewing area. There were tv screens and a glass bottom floor for us to look out of. "Now this is cool." I said as me and Leena high-fived. "And now we just have to wait again." Leena said as we found some seats to relax in. We took off into the air shortly after and made our way to our next stop.
-Time Skip: 1 Hour-
"Alright everybody, we're just taking off from our last stop. Next up, Beacon academy." The captain of the ship said over a PA system. "Finally!" Leena said, stretching her arms into the air. "I know. It feels like it's been a whole day since we took off from the port. And... I guess it's just a tad more crowded now too." I said, looking around to see hundreds of students, all around our age. It was a good mix of Faunus and Humans, something you don't see too often these days. Faunus are labelled as an underdeveloped species compared to humans. They carry animal-like features that either hinder or strengthen them. Humans see them as inferior, but that's not the case with me and Leena. We don't care who you are. We're all here to share one world, so we just have to deal with whatever, or whoever is here. "Hey, Drake! Are you listening? Look over there." Leena said, pointing to a tv screen. People had gathered around it and I saw it had the news network playing on it. "The robbery was lead by nefarious criminal, Roman Torchwick." The reporter said, showing off a man who had orange hair, a white jacket, a cane, and a bowler hat.
"This man continues to evade all authorities. If you have any information on his whereabouts, please contact the Vale police department. Back to you..." The reporter said as it switched over to some other serious news. "Thank you. In other news, this Saturday, the Faunus civil rights protest turned dark when members of the White Fang disrupted the ceremony. The once peaceful organization has now disrupted..." The new reporter said but the screen was turned off. Appearing as a hologram in front of all of us was an older woman, blonde hair, glasses, a black and purple cape, and a white and black outfit.
"Hello and welcome to Beacon. My name is Glynda Goodwitch. You are among a privileged few who have received the honor of being selected to attend this prestigious academy. Our world is experiencing an incredible time of peace and as future huntsman and huntresses, it is your duty to uphold it. You have all demonstrated the courage needed for such a task. And now, it is our turn to provide you with the knowledge and training to protect our world." Glynda said as her hologram disappeared. "So cooool. Let's check out the view." Leena said, pulling on my arm. "Alright Leena. Just remember to breath." I said with a chuckle as we headed over to the nearest window. We stood by two other girls, one with long gold hair and another with dark red and black hair. "I can see Signal academy from here. I guess we're not too far from home." The girl with red hair said to the one with gold hair. The one with the gold hair then put her arm over the other girls shoulder and said "Beacon's our home now." I made the connection that they were sisters when she said that. I was about to start talking to them but something caught my eye. I looked past the two girls and saw a tall boy with blonde hair vomiting in the corner of the ship. "Don't look now. I think someone gets air sick." I said to Leena as we both giggled. "Well I guess the view isn't for everyone." The gold haired girl said as the vomiting boy ran past all of us. "Well it was nice while it lasted." The red haired girl said as she looked down to her sisters feet. "Oh my gosh, you've got puke on your shoe!" She said as her sister freaked out. I then looked to Leena and said "Well, I've got that feeling that things are gonna be even more crazy. Can't wait to start." We gave each other a high-five and we watched as our ship docked in front of Beacon academy.
Beacon looked amazing, like something out of a fairy tale. It looked like a huge castle with a beautiful looking courtyard. Everyone got off the ship and began to walk towards the main building. Me and Leena got off but I noticed one of my shoes was untied. "I'll catch up in a sec. Just gotta fix my shoe." I said as Leena gave me a nod and kept on walking. It only took me a few seconds and I was back on track. I could see Leena way ahead of me, looking at all of the architecture. I started to look around too. Another thing caught my eye though. I saw that red haired girl from before arguing with a girl with long white hair and a white dress. The white haired girl was yelling at the other girl but soon marched away. I then saw the red haired girl collapse to the ground, laying flat on her back. I decided to go over and help her back up.
"Excuse me. Do you need some help?" I asked her as I reached my hand out to her. At the same time, another boy did the same thing. I looked up and saw it was the blonde haired guy who was vomiting on the ship earlier. "Thanks guys." She said as she took both of our hands. "I'm Jaune." The blonde haired boy said. "Nice to meet you. I'm Ruby." The red haired girl said as she then looked to me. "Nice to meet you too. My name is Drake." I said as she nodded to both of us. Ruby then looked to Jaune and let out a small chuckle. "Aren't you the guy who was throwing up?" She asked him as he put his head down and agreed with her. "All i'm saying is motion sickness is a much more common problem than people let on." Jaune said as he put his head back up. "I guess I should reconsider calling you vomit boy, then?" Ruby said. "Just call me Jaune Arc. Short, sweet, rolls off the tongue, and the ladies love it." Jaune said as I rolled my eyes. "Great, he's a ladies man." I thought to myself as I looked to the weapon Jaune was carrying with him. I was about to ask him about it but Ruby cut in and unsheathed her weapon. It caught me a little off guard actually. It's not everyday you see a gigantic scythe that doubles as a sniper rifle. "Wow. That's really cool." Jaune said as Ruby looked to both of us. "So what do you guys got?" She said as I pulled out my weapon first. "Meet Sky Blazer. A triple cylinder revolver with three bayonets that run along the top of it. It can also change into a spear-like trident when I hit this switch." I said as I showed off my weapon. Ruby looked like she was drooling over the sight of my gun. Jaune was staring at the three cylinders on it. "How does it work exactly? The cylinders, I mean." He asked as I pulled each of them out. "One is more normal bullets. The second is for dust filled bullets. I typically like to use fire, ice, or electricity based dust with them. The third however, is my personal favourite." I explained as I pulled out one of the bullets in that cylinder. I showed it to Ruby and Jaune and said "When these are fired, they latch on to their target. And after a flick of the switch, they explode with enough force to blow a hole through a building." I said as Ruby's eyes lit up. "Huh, that's strange. You have silver eyes." I said to her as she started to rub the back of her head. "Yeah, it's pretty rare. Cool, huh?" She said as I nodded my head. I then looked to Jaune and said "And what about you? Care to show us your weapon?" He then unsheathed a sword from its hilt and held it in front of us. "I've got this sword. And... I've got a shield too." He explained as he brought his hilt up with expanded into a shield. "Do they fire anything?" Ruby asked as Jaune put his weapons away. "Nope... they're just a regular sword and shield." He explained as I put my hand on his left shoulder. "I like it. It's a classic approach, not too complicated, no major flaws. Not bad at all." I said as he gave me a small smile. Ruby interrupted though and began yelling. "Oh my gosh, we're gonna be late for orientation! Let's go!" She said as we all agreed and headed to the main entrance of Beacon.
When we made it inside, we were able to find the main hall. There, all of the new students were gathered and were waiting for the headmaster to appear. "I've gotta go find someone. I'll see you around, I guess." I said to Ruby and Jaune as I left them to find Leena. It didn't take long since Leena saw me and was yelling my name. "Over here! I saved you a seat!" She said as I waved to her and made my way through the crowd of people. "Who were you talkin' too?" She asked me curiously. "Just some people I met outside. Wouldn't say we're friends yet. We just had a small conversation." I told her as someone appeared on a stage in front of us all. It was the headmaster of Beacon, Professor Ozpin. And behind him stood Glynda. "I'll keep this brief." Ozpin said into a microphone. This caught everyone's attention, whether they were paying attention or not. "You have traveled today in search of knowledge. To hone your craft and acquire new skills. And when you are finished, you plan to dedicate your life to the protection of the people. But I look amongst you and all I see is wasted energy in need of purpose, direction. You assume knowledge will free you of this but your time at this school will prove that knowledge can only carry you so far. It is up to you... to take the first step." Ozpin said as he exited the stage. Glynda took over and began to speak into the microphone. "You will all gather in the ballroom tonight. Tomorrow, your initiation will begin. Be ready. You are all dismissed." She said as she then left the stage as well.
"Well that wasn't very encouraging. Think Ozpin says that to all new students?" I asked Leena but she didn't give me an answer. "No clue. It felt off to me. Like he really wasn't talking to any of us." Leena said. "I'm sure we'll understand it all eventually. We aren't really from here after all. Come on. Let's find this ballroom Glynda was talking about." I said as Leena nodded in agreement. We then followed a large group of people and found the ballroom where we would spend the night. And since we had time, all students put away any weapons they had in their own lockers which would be ours for the time we spend at Beacon. We were all given electronic scrolls. They were essentially cell phones. We could use them to make calls, obviously, but we could also use them to launch our specific lockers to our location in case we needed to fight and we didn't have our weapons on us. So that was pretty neat. But as the sun set, everyone settled down for the night, trying their best to fall asleep. Tomorrow... we all begin our first official day at Beacon academy.
