So I will be saving team DLTA''s doubles match for the end of the doubles round. It gave me time to think of Amber and Temair's two opponents who they'll face off against. I don't know why but it was actually much harder to think of these two new characters than it did when I thought of the members of team RZOR. But, at least after this, I've got everything else planned out for the rest of the volume. If you know what already happens in the actual story, then you know what's to come. And with team DLTA thrown into the mix, you can expect things to get even more intense. Enjoy!

A few hours later, a match was well underway. Russel and Sky from team CRDL were facing off against Penny and Ciel from Atlas, and I've gotta say... It was just a bit one sided. Ciel hardly had to do anything in the fight. Russel and Sky were on the run from Penny, hiding behind some boulders that were on the battlefield. Penny released all her swords and made them hover around her in a circle formation. She sent six of them into each of the boulders Russel and Sky were hiding behind. And then, just barely visible, Penny began to pull on wires that were connected to her blades. She lifted both boulders in the air as Russel and Sky were holding onto them. She rose them up high and then crashed them down, making a huge dust cloud. And when the dust cleared, both Russel and Sky were down, laying on their backs. Penny then brought her swords back to her and bowed to her opponents. "And victory goes to Penny and Ciel of Atlas! Russel and Sky are eliminated by aura depletion!" Doctor Oobleck announced as the crowd cheered for the Atlas team. "There's another team that's making it look easy." I said as everyone agreed with me. "At least they knocked out team CRDL. That's what those guys get for being total jerks to everyone most of the year." Amber said as she clenched her fists. "Or at least until they crossed paths with us, that is." I said as we all laughed. "Looks like we're still not up yet since we haven't been called yet. We're nearing the end of the doubles round too, so we might be the last match of the day." Temair said as I looked around the arena. 

"Hey guys!" Ruby said to us as she and Blake found seats behind us. "What's up? Here to watch some more matches?" Leena asked them. "Of course. Weiss and Yang just got called down for their fight. We figured we'd sit here with you guys and cheer them on." Blake said as we all gave her nods. "Yeah, of course. We'll be cheering them on too." Leena said as Professor Port got back onto his microphone. "Alright everyone, we're nearing the end of the exciting doubles round! But this next match is sure to be a good one! Our first team put on a good performance in the team round, and their certainly making a strong statement for this round as well. Representing Beacon, Weiss and Yang!" Port said as they both walked onto the battlefield. "Good luck, you two!" Ruby yelled to them as I gave a few loud whistles of encouragement. Yang began to do some stretches as their opponents were being called out. "And now for their opponents! Representing the kingdom of Atlas, Flynt Coal and Neon Katt!" Oobleck said as the two of them appeared. Neon bolted around the battlefield, circling Weiss and Yang on a pair of rollerskates. She stopped next to her partner Flynt. Flynt was clad in a stylish outfit, weaing a fedora, shades, and a black vest with a white shirt underneath. Neon, after getting a closer look, was a Faunus who had a cat tail. She had long red hair in the style of pig-tails, as well as her wearing a light blue sports bra and a pink skirt. 

"Well i'll say this... I wasn't expecting a team like that to come from Atlas." I said as everyone laughed with me. The screens around the battlefield then began to rotate, changing into the four environments the two teams would have to fight in. When the four quarters were set, the teams would have to fight in the volcano, sand, city, and geyser field zones. "With the battlefield conditions set, let's begin the match! 3... 2... 1... BEGIN!!" Port shouted as the two teams went on the offensive. Flynt pulled out what looked like a trumpet and he began to play it. We could see he was creating visible sound waves. The sound waves reached Weiss and Yang and it greatly slowed down their movements and began to push them backwards. Neon skated into the waves and it propelled her forward into Yang. Neon grabbed her hair and dragged her into the city zone on the battlefield. Weiss on the other hand was left to deal with Flynt. Flynt began to blow into his trumpet again, creating more sound waves. Weiss tried to counter by using her Glyphs to launch herself forward. Weiss was barely able to move forward as her Glyphs were just barely stronger than the sound waves. Flynt was able to take full advantage over Weiss though as he stopped blowing into his trumpet. With nothing pushing her back, Weiss flung herself forward without any control. She fell over but quickly got back up, now looking a little irritated. 

Meanwhile, Neon was currently on the run from Yang who was trying to shoot at her. But thanks to Neon's rollerskates, she was able to dodge Yang pretty easily. Neon was hopping around the city zone with ease, grinding against some railings and going in for attacks on Yang when she was open. Neon pulled out a pair of nunchucks that glowed blue in colour. When she would go in and hit Yang with them, wherever she hit with her weapon would become frozen. The nunchucks could hold ice type Dust. She froze a part of Yang's leg but Yang was able to break the ice off with a hard stomp on the ground. It looked like she was getting irritated just like Weiss was. Neon went for attack after attack, landing a flurry of shots on Yang and freezing several different parts of her body. Yang would simply break off the ice with a single move when that happened though. And after a while, Neon stopped and it looked like she was taunting Yang. I don't know what she said but Yang's eyes turned red in colour, indicating she was fuming mad. Yang then took her left fist which was currently frozen and smashed it against a concrete wall, breaking the ice and the wall down with that single hit. "Now she's done it." I thought to myself as I knew Yang was about to get serious. 

Weiss on the other hand was still having troubles with Flynt. She made four small glyphs appear, floating behind her body. She began to spin around, increasing their size. She then stopped and thrusted her weapon forward, also launching four large ice shards out from the glyphs. Flynt countered by jumping down to his knees in front of a small lava pool. Flynt blow into his trumpet as the pool began to spew lava. The mix from Flynt's sound waves and the lava quickly melted away the ice shards. Flynt stood back up and began to taunt Weiss. Both of them raised their weapons up and released their next attacks simultaneously. Flynt made more sound waves which was countered by Weiss producing a wind tunnel from the end of her sword. They were in a stalemate for the time being. However, Weiss was still able to go on the offensive. Using her free hand, she formed Glyphs all around Flynt. She then made one behind her and used it to launch herself over to all the other glyphs. In the middle of traveling from one glyph to the other, Weiss would land some sword strikes on Flynt, knocking him off balance. But Flynt was having none of this. He stood his ground and began to produce copies of himself from his body. In no time, there was four of him, all lined up and each of them holding a trumpet. They each blew into them and created a huge barrage of sound waves. Weiss got caught in it while moving from glyph to glyph and she was blown away, dropping her weapon and falling onto her front. "It appears young Flynt has just activated his semblance, and quite a remarkable one at that. Ladies and Gentlemen! Feast your eyes on Flynt Coal's... Killer Quartet" Oobleck said as we watched the three copies of Flynt disappear back into his body. Flynt began walking over to Weiss, stepping onto her sword when he was right in front of her. Weiss still laid on the ground, reaching for her weapon. But as Flynt began to point his trumpet at her, he soon became distracted by some yelling in the distance. "Get back here!" Yang yelled as Neon was skating circles around her. "I wasn't trying to say you should go on a diet. I was saying you really need to go on a diet!" Neon said to her as Yang screamed in anger. "That's it!" She roared as Neon just laughed at her. "You're fat!" Neon said as Flynt took his full attention away from Weiss to deal with Yang. He turned away from Weiss and activated his semblance, making his three copies reappear. They all pointed their trumpets at Yang and were about to blow. But before they could start playing, Weiss jumped up and tackled Flynt to the ground, causing his copies to disappear again. The two of them dove into a pool of lava that was spewing at the moment. The crowd went silent as the buzzer went off in the arena, indicating someone's aura was depleted. "It appears we have a double knockout on our hands!" Port said as Oobleck stepped in. "In fact, it looks as though Ms. Schnee's aura has been completely depleted. She sacrificed herself to take out Flynt. Wait a minute... What's this!?" Oobleck announced as everyone focused on where Weiss and Flynt were last seen. 

Emerging from a smoke cloud from the lava spew was Flynt. Weiss was also there but she was down on the ground with no aura left to defend herself. "Ladies and Gentlemen! Flynt Coal remains standing!" Port announced as Flynt slowly walked over to Neon who was still skating circles around Yang. But she soon stopped and joined her teammate at his side. We could see she was saying things to Flynt but we weren't able to hear what they were. But whatever she said, Yang finally went over the edge and exploded. "Oooh, it looks like Yang's angry! And you wouldn't like her when she's... Upset!" Port said as Yang fired off two concussive blasts from her gauntlets. At the same time, she activated her own semblance, increasing her own strength as well as the power of her shots. The two shots blew apart the arena where they landed, but luckily for Flynt and Neon, they landed behind them. Flynt began to blow into his trumpet again and Neon went into the sound waves, launching her forward at Yang. Yang went to meet her by using her gauntlets to propel herself forward. However, she was met by the sound waves which slowed her down. Neon dashed past Yang, nearly hitting her with her nunchucks. But as she went by her, Yang turned around and shot the ground beside and in front of Neon. She tore up the ground, making it unstable and more difficult more Neon to skate around on. She lost balance and skated some distance away from Yang. Yang then turned her attention to Flynt who kept on playing his trumpet. Yang blasted off, using her gauntlets to launch herself over to Flynt. Flynt activated his semblance again, and his three copies appeared next to him. They all blew into their trumpets, engulfing Yang in a huge barrage of sound waves. But Yang kept on pushing forward by using her gauntlets. When she got close enough, she brought both of her hands together and plugged up the end of the real Flynt's trumpet. This caused a backfire in the weapon which blew Flynt backwards. The buzzer in the arena went off at the same time. "Oooh, sour notes for Flynt! It's 1-on-1!" Oobleck said as Yang turned her attention back over to Neon.

Neon still hadn't regained her balance yet as she was skating on one foot in the geyser field zone. She was doing her best to regain control. But after a few seconds of struggling, the foot she was skating on tripped over a rock on the ground. Neon fell over and dropped her nunchucks. She then slid over a geyser which erupted when she went over it. She was sent high into the air, leaving her wide open for Yang to capitalize. Yang simply shot another concussive blast at Neon which struck her square in the face. A beautiful looking explosion filled that section of the battlefield as the buzzer went off yet again. "And with that, Neon Katt is eliminated by aura depletion. Yang and Weiss are victorious!" Professor Port said as the crowd went nuts. Yang ran over to Weiss who was covered in ashes. She was able to help her up but odds are high that she wasn't going to continue. Neon and Flynt were also able to get back up and they walked over to Weiss and Yang. They shook hands, or more like Flynt did. Neon just kept on circling them on her roller skates. But by the look on Yang's face, I could tell Neon was saying nicer things to them both. "Oh my gosh, that was way too close." Ruby said as she took a deep breath. "I know what you mean. Luckily Yang was able to pull off the comeback." I said as her and Blake agreed with me. "It's not easy to beat someone who can literally beat you with your own strength" Blake said as we all agreed with her. "I've gotta say though, that Flynt guy has got my kind of weapon!" I said as Temair and Ruby looked at me curiously. "Wait, did you play the trumpet?" Temair asked me. "You bet. I played it for a couple of years before entering Huntsman primary school. Leena did the same but she played the drums. We sounded pretty good together, actually." I explained as me and Leena fist bumped. "We had a couple gigs at some restaurants in our town often. People loved us." Leena explained as Ruby just started to laugh. "I can't see you guys doing that at all! That's so funny!" She said as she nearly fell out of her chair. 

But as she was laughing her head off, Blake still looked at us curiously. "I think all the the other teams have fought. Looks like you guys are the only ones left who haven't gone yet." She said to us as we nodded. "Yep. And since we're last, we got extra time to rest and save energy. And now we're ready to go!" Amber said as she and Temair pulled out their scrolls from their pockets. "We're being called to the battlefield. Wish us luck!" Temair said as he gave everyone a fist bump. Him and Amber then left as Emerald and Mercury arrived and took their seats. Mercury sat next to me again, like before. "Nice going earlier, you two really killed it." I said as I gave him a high five. "Hey thanks. Looks like you guys are finally up. Think you've got this?" He asked me. "Well we've thought long and hard on a plan, plus we've been training for quite a while... so i'd say we're good." I said as Leena agreed with me. "Whoever they have to face, we can count on them to win and move on. We've got an immovable object and an object that's just hard to hit, period. If they're not beating down their opponents, then they'll definitely be annoying them." Leena said as Merc let out a chuckle. "Well, we'll see. I'm pretty sure it's an Atlas team that's also left. And knowing that kingdom, they're probably gonna try and hit your teammates hard." Emerald said as I started to chuckle now. "We've been through worse. And if we do make it to the next round, whichever one of you is moving on, you'd better watch your back." I said jokingly as Emerald and Mercury looked at each other, looking like they were going to laugh. We then stopped our conversation because Professor Port was beginning to announce the final match of the doubles round. "Here we go, folks! This is the final battle of the Vytal Festival Tournament Doubles Round!"
