Legendary Huntsman
Finally, the team battle rounds are over. We'll be getting to the doubles round pretty soon now. But if you know how the story goes, we first have to meet two very intriguing characters. I'm excited to see how my version of the story pans out with one of these characters. As for the second one, we still don't know much about them. I have a theory about what they actually are but it's a real far cry in my opinion. I also figured it would be nice to add in a few more friends for Drake and Leena from Vacuo. I thought it would be better to just have one member of NDGO be a friend of theirs though and not the entire team. Enjoy!
-Point of View: Leena-
Me and Ruby followed Weiss into Beacon's courtyard where an Atlas airship was landing. "Weiss, what is the big deal? Who is it? Who is she?" Ruby asked her as we stopped near the airship. "Winter" is all Weiss said as the ramp for the airship dropped down. Walking out of the ship was a single person, a woman who looked kind of like Weiss. She had her white hair in a bun, and she was wearing a white and blue dress, with a sword at her side.
"Winter!" Weiss called to her as the lady stared right at us. Weiss ran over to her and me and Ruby followed. We all stopped in front of this woman who kept on staring at us, now with Atlas soldier drones standing by her. "Winter, i'm so happy to see you! Oh, um... your presence honors us." Weiss said as she bowed before this Winter person. Winter began to walk forward, looking at the sights around the area. "Beacon... it's been a long time. The air feels... different." Winter said. "I mean it is fall so it's probably colder..." Ruby said as Weiss punched her in the arm. "So, what are you doing here?" Weiss asked Winter. "Classified." Winter said in response. "Oh, right. Well, how long are you staying?" Weiss asked as Winter continued to stare at us. "Classified." Winter said again. "Of course." Weiss said as she bowed to Winter again. And awkward silence then filled the air as no one was saying anything to each other. "Well, this is nice... I think." Ruby said, trying to break the silence. I was keeping quiet for now so I didn't make a fool of myself. "You're going to love it here! I know you travel a lot, but so much of Beacon is different than Atlas! Vale, too. The government and school are completely separated. Can you believe it? I-" Weiss tried to say but Winter cut in. "I'm more than familiar with how this kingdom handles its bureaucracy. That is not why I came. Nor did I come here to watch my own blood fail so miserably in battle. But it appears I have no choice in the matter." Winter said which let me make the connection that her and Weiss were sisters. I probably could've figured that out just based on how much they look alike. "But we won." Weiss said, confused about what Winter was referring to. "Only a novice would refer to that as a victory. I counted at least three strikes missed. Leave us." Winter said to the Atlas drones as they walked away. Winter then let out a sigh and started smiling. "How have you been?" She asked Weiss. "Oh, splendid! Thank you for asking! I'm actually in the very top ranking of our sparring class. The rest of my studies are going wonderfully too. I'm-" Weiss tried to explain but Winter just slapped her on the top of the head. "Silence, you boob! I don't recall asking about your ranking. I asked you how you've been. Are you eating properly? Have you taken up any hobbies? Are you making any friends?" Winter asked her as Weiss was rubbing the top of her head. "Well, there's Ruby." Weiss said, pointing to Ruby. Winter seemed to examine her, looking at her features and her clothes.
"I see. So this is the leader you wrote of. How appropriately... underwhelming." Winter said as Ruby just looked awkward. "Uh... Thank you." Ruby said, bowing to Winter. "Greetings, Ruby Rose. I wish to thank you for taking an interest in my sister." Winter said to her. "Oh yes, of course! The honor is in my... court!" Ruby said as I just shook my head at her. "And what of this other girl. Judging by her appearance, this must be Blake Belladonna." Winter said, looking at me. "I'm sorry, Ms. Schnee. I'm not Blake Belladonna. My name is Leena Myst. I'm part of a different team called DLTA. We're all actually very close friends with your sister." I explained as I bowed to Winter. "My apologies, Ms. Myst. I thank you for also sharing your interest in my sister. You and your team also show promising skills. I wish you luck in future combat." Winter said to me as she bowed in return. Winter then pulled herself back up and said "I have business with the general and your headmaster. But seeing as i'm early, why don't you take me to your quarters?" "Really?" Weiss asked her eagerly. "Yes, I wish to inspect them and make sure they're up to my personal standards." Winter said as she, Weiss and some of the Atlas drones began to walk away towards the Beacon dorms. "Of course! And just so you know, the bunk beds only look unstable." Weiss explained to her sister. "Bunk beds?" Winter said as they went out of our hearing range. I then looked to Ruby, seeing her just standing there looking frozen. "You okay? She did call you "underwhelming" after all." I asked Ruby as she gave me a nod. "Alright. Let's head inside and get some dinner. I'm sure you must be hungry." I said as Ruby gave me another silent nod. We both started walking to the main hall at Beacon.
On our way, we noticed that there was a commossion ahead of us. Everyone had gathered into a circle but we weren't able to see what they were looking at. Me and Ruby made our way over and found Weiss who was watching whatever was happening. What we ended up seeing was Winter fighting a man who wore a gray jacket, a red cape, and he had dirty black hair. He was also wielding an enormous sword with some gears near the grip.
"What's going on?" I asked Weiss. "Some crazy guy just started attacking my sister!" Weiss explained as Ruby looked to the man who was fighting Winter. "Oh no! Who would do such a th-aaaat is my uncle!" Ruby screamed in joy. "What!?" Me and Weiss said as we couldn't belive what Ruby just told us. "Kick her butt, uncle Qrow!" Ruby yelled to him. "Uhh, teach him respect, Winter!" Weiss said, cheering her sister on. I didn't say anything on the matter. All I did was watch the fight ensue. Qrow went for an overhead slash with his huge sword, slamming it down as Winter jumped backwards to dodge it. The force of Qrow's attack was so powerful that he shattered the ground in front of him. Winter jumped back again but this time much higher. She landed next to a light post and she readied her blade to attack Qrow. But before I could even blink, Qrow had rushed over to Winter, slashing away at her. He chopped down the light post with a single swing. Qrow then went for another attack, swiping his blade across his body. Winter jumped over it and landed on top of his blade. She then jumped off and landed on top of a tall bridge nearby. She was running along it and Qrow was trying to run with her, only on the ground. He seemed to be aiming his weapon at her, and after a few seconds, he fired some concussive blasts from two black barrels on either side of his blade. He fired multiple at Winter but she was able to deflect each one with ease. And after Qrow fired off one last shot, Winter started to make a cloud of mist around her. You could no longer see her as she was completely shrouded in the white mist. Qrow stopped moving and prepared for an attack by her.
In the matter of seconds, Winter leaped out of the mist, headed straight for Qrow. She hit a switch on her blade and she split it into two blades. She went to strike Qrow with both of them and the two of them collided with such force that they created a crater on the ground. Winter was faster at recovering and she went to hit Qrow again. He was able to block the attack but Winter sent him sliding backwards on his feet. Qrow shoved his sword into the ground to stop himself from sliding. Winter took this chance to capitalize as she injected one of her swords into the ground. She made the same glyph as Weiss did, only her creation was much quicker. She made dozens of doves made of ice and she sent them flying over to Qrow. They flew all around him, distracting him from Winter. However, that soon changed when Qrow fired off another shot right towards Winter. She lost focus and her glyphs disappeared shortly after. Winter then made a glyph appear behind her as she prepared her two blades for the next attack. Qrow on the other hand hit a switch near the grip of his sword, making it start to transform. The sections of the blade began to split apart and curve into the shape of a scythe. However, in the middle of its transformation, Qrow suddenly stopped it and withdrew his weapon. He then started taunting Winter, wagging his finger at her. She grew angry and used her glyph to propel herself forward. She thrusted one of her blades in front of her as she neared the defenseless Qrow. And just as she got near inches from impaling his neck, Winter froze as someone began to yell.
"Schnee!" General Ironwood yelled, stopping the fight. Winter withdrew her own weapons and faced her superior. "General Ironwood, sir!" She said as she saluted him. "What in the world do you think you're doing?"Ironwood asked her. "He started the altercation, sir!" Winter pleaded but Qrow cut in. "That's actually not true, she attacked first." Qrow explained with a voice sounding like he was heavily wasted. "Is that right?" Ironwood asked Winter. Winter simply put her head down in disgrace. "And you." Ironwood said, looking to Qrow. Qrow simply looked surprised and started pointing to himself. "What are you doing here?" Ironwood asked as he walked right up to Qrow. "I could be asking you the same thing." Qrow said in a smug tone. And as we were watching this conversation unfold, Ruby siddenly became distracted by something. I didn't know what exactly was more important than what was happening right in front of us but I looked to see what had her attention. It was Penny. I had nearly forgotten that she was hear for the tournament as well. She was being escorted by some Atlas soldiers into the main hall. She gave us a wave and we waved back to her before looking back at the action. At this point, Professor Ozpin and Glynda had shown up and were stopping the conflict. "Now, now everyone. There is a sanctioned fight happening just around the corner at the colosseum that I can assure you has better seats. And popcorn." Ozpin said as he took a sip from his mug. "Break it up, everyone! We will take care of this mess." Glynda said, looking to Qrow and Ironwood. They left to go to Ozpin's office, Ironwood and Winter following very closely. However, Qrow just stayed in place and Ruby took this chance to cling to his arm just like Amber does to Drake. "Uncle Qrooooow! Hi! Ahh, it's so good to see you! Did you miss me!? Did you miss me!?" Ruby asked him excitedly as he lifted her up with his arm, holding her head by his face. "...Nope!" Qrow said as he booped Ruby on the nose, indicating that he was joking. He then shook up her hair and put her on the ground. "Qrow!" Ozpin yelled as Qrow looked over to him. "A word please." Ozpin said as Qrow let out a heavy sigh. "I think i'm in trouble." Qrow said to Ruby as I just started to laugh. "I mean, you did kinda tear up our courtyard." I said as I walked over to the man. "Yeah, I guess I kinda did, didn't I." Qrow said as he gave a smile to me. "Nice to meet you. I'm one of Ruby's friends. The name's Leena. She tells me you're her uncle." I said as I shook hands with Qrow. Sorry, I can't really stay and chat. Your "headmaster" wants a "word" with me. I'll see you kiddos around." Qrow said as he gave Ruby a fist bump before following after Ozpin and the others.
"And suddenly, your recklessness makes sense." Weiss said as she looked right at Ruby. "Oh please. You're just mad because he whooped butt." Ruby said as she started laughing. "That ws a draw at best." Weiss said, glaring at Ruby. I had to disagree with Weiss though. Qrow seemed like he was hardly trying in the fight where as Winter looked like she was struggling a bit. "I'm not gonna put in an answer. Don't wanna start another fight out here." I said as Ruby and Weiss looked at me. "Who was better!?" They said in my face as I just started to laugh and walk away. They kept on following me all the way into the main hall where we had our dinner. I still didn't give them my answer though. And they still continued to ask me afterwards when I left to go to my teams room. It wasn't until I shut my door in their face when I finally got some peace and quiet. "You look like you had a long day. What happened out there? I heard some gun shots earlier." Drake asked me as I just sighed. " I met Weiss's Sister and Ruby's crazy uncle. Let's just say, they really don't get along." I explained as Temair and Amber walked in behind me. "Good, everyone's here. We can go over the plan for the doubles round." Drake said as we all agreed. We then gathered around each other and discussed battle strategies for when Amber and Temair would fight in the doubles round of the tournament. It went long into the night but we finally came up with a sure fire strategy that was sure to work. Now all we had to do was wait for it to be our chance, win, and move on to the next round.
