Initiation
It feels good re-watching the RWBY series from the beginning. The first three volumes were way better than what it has become, but that's not going to discourage me when I get to the later volumes. And now, at this point, we're getting close to forming teams. I've put a lot of thought into the other DLTA members and I can't wait to show them off. The only hard part when thinking of them was their semblances. There's just so many options that it's hard to narrow down what to pick for them. But I feel I made some good decisions for them. So, let's move on to the initiation. Enjoy!
When the morning came around, everyone headed to their lockers to pick up their weapons. Today was the day of our initiation. If we passed, we would begin our lives as huntsmen in training at Beacon. I walked around the locker room for a while but I finally managed to find my personal locker. I put my weapon into my holster and began to make my way over to Leena. She had her weapon in a sling that went along her back. "So... ready for today?" I asked her as she shut her locker door. "Of course. And, I managed to overhear some of the other students. Apparently this test is going to be in partners. I don't know exactly how it's going to work, but let's try and be together." Leena explained to me as I nodded with her. "You bet. We've done everything else together so I don't see why we can't be together this time. But if for some reason we're separated, don't feel too down. We'll still see each other." I said as Leena gave me a thumbs up. "Perfect. Anyways, we should go. If we show up a little early, maybe we can get some extra info from our instructors." I said as Leena agreed with me. We then began to exit the locker room but not before running into a few familiar faces. "Hey Drake." Ruby said to me. I saw she was standing with that gold haired girl again. "How's it going Ruby? Also, is this your sister?" I asked. "Yep! This is Yang." She responded as Yang walked over to me and Leena. "Nice to meet you two." She said as we both shook her hand. "And who's this?" Ruby asked me, gesturing at Leena. "I'm Leena. Me and Drake came all the way from Vacuo to attend school here." Leena explained. "Wow, that's pretty far. It must be a little strange to see forests and buildings all over the place instead of sand, am I right?" Yang asked, nudging my shoulder. "You got that right." I said as me and Leena continued to walk to the exit. "We'll see you around. Good luck during initiation!" I said as we both left the locker room.
When we arrived at the specified location, we were met by Professor Ozpin and Glynda again. They stood by a cliff-side and near the edge were some strange looking tiles that were embedded into the ground. "Glad to see our long distance students are on time. And a bit early at that." Ozpin said, looking at his watch. "That's kinda our thing." Leena said as we saw both instructors give us a smile. More students then showed up after us. That girl with the white hair was next, followed by a new girl with long red hair, green eyes, and she wore gladiator style combat gear. A perky, orange haired girl and a quiet boy with black hair were next and then Yang and Ruby arrived shortly after. In no time everyone was here, we all stepped onto the weird tiles and we began our test. "For years you have trained to become warriors. And today, your abilities will be evaluated in the Emerald forest." Ozpin explained as Glynda stepped forward. "Now, i'm sure many of you have heard the rumors about the assignment of teams. Well, allow us to put an end to your confusion. Each of you will be given teammates... today." Glynda explained as me and Leena looked at each other nervously. Ozpin then continued to explain and said "These teammates will be with you for the rest of your time here at Beacon. So it is in your best interest to be paired with someone with whom you can work well. That being said, the first person you make eye contact with after landing will be your partner for the next 4 years. After you've partnered up, make your way to the northern end of the forest. You will meet opposition along the way. Do not hesitate to destroy everything in your path, or you will die." Everyone then became just a little more nervous, seeing as it's up to sheer luck if you get paired up with someone you work well with. Ozpin continued though and said "You will all be monitored and graded for the duration of your initiation. But our instructors will not intervene. You will find an abandoned temple at the end of the path containing several relics. Each pair must choose one, and return to the top of the cliff. We will regard that item, as well as your standing, and grade you appropriately. Now, are there any questions?" "Um, yeah. sir-" Jaune tried to ask but he was cut off by Ozpin. "Good! Now take your positions. You will be launched into the forest momentarily." Ozpin explained as he cleared up any questions that I would have had. I took a ready position on my tile and waited for it to throw me into the forest. Using a spring-like mechanism, the tile shot me forward towards the tree line. Our first test had finally begun.
I was now falling towards the trees, and other students were using their weapons to propel themselves in the air and make some distance. I decided to make a quicker landing instead and work my way from there. I took out my weapon and switched it to its melee form. The gun barrel extended and the bayonets evenly spread themselves out. The fourth blade appeared from the grip of my gun and I looked to where I could effectively use my weapon. I didn't have much time but I saw that a tree I was closing in on had a large branch that was sticking out. I swung my weapon forward and one of the blades hooked into the branch, stopping me completely. I then pulled my weapon out of the branch and fell to the ground, landing on my feet. "Not too shabby if I do say so myself." I said, brushing off some leaves from my arms. I then looked up and saw Yang soaring over the trees using some sort of gauntlets on each of her arms. "Well if I wanted to try and pair up with her, I guess I know which way to go." I said as some bushes near me began to move. Something was nearby, watching me. I switched my weapon back to its gun form and took aim at the rustling bushes. I activated my semblance so I could get a good idea of what was near me. My semblance doesn't tell me exactly what everything is, it more or less outlines the object in different auras. Typically, blue, yellow, or red auras are people, but black... black aura was Grimm. And as I focused, the black aura appeared. "So this forest has Grimm in it? I guess that's what our "opposition" is supposed to be. Shouldn't be too bad, hopefully." I said as I aimed my weapon at the bushes and fired three normal bullets into them. Appearing from the bushes was an Ursa, a bear-like Grimm. It seemed to limp out of the bush but it soon slumped over. I saw my bullets went right through its head. The Grimm soon vanished into thin air and I began to make my way north.
"Leena, Leena, where could you be?" I thought to myself as I searched through the dense forest. I could hear gun fire in the distance, a clear sign that others had found some Grimm. I just wanted to keep moving forward though. And hopefully, I would meet my partner along the way. "I wonder what these relics look-" I tried to say as I sensed something closing in on me. I focused and saw the same black aura, indicating it was a Grimm. Something was different though. The aura was larger than normally. I pulled out my weapon as another Ursa humped out from behind some trees. This one was much larger than the last and it was more armoured too. I fired two shots at its head but my normal bullets just bounced off of its armoured skull. "Damn! Maybe something stronger-" I tried to say as the Ursa swung its large claws at me. I jumped away but the Ursa chopped down some trees with the same swing of its claws. A tree landed in between us and this gave me some time to swap cylinders. I hit a switch on the side of my weapon and the three cylinders rotated. Now, my dust bullets were loaded and ready to be fired. The Ursa jumped onto the fallen tree and roared into my face. I wasn't fazed by this as I took aim, looking directly down the throat of the Ursa. "Chew on this!" I said as I shot a flame dust bullet into the Ursa's throat. It stopped roaring as smoke soon began to appear form its mouth. The Ursa wailed in pain but it began to swing its large claws at me again. "Oh come on!" I said as I turned and ran, trying to make some distance with it.
"Can you stop it from moving!?" Someone yelled to me. I looked around but I didn't see anyone. "I probably can! No promises though!" I said in response as I stopped and faced the Ursa. It was chasing me down, its mouth still smoking and it mowing down trees. "I won't be able to stop it for long! You'll only have a few seconds!" I yelled as I spun my dust cylinder so the electricity bullets would be fired next. "Now!" I cried as I fired two shots into the Ursa's legs. The electricity briefly stunned the Ursa, making it stop dead in its tracks. But it seemed to be enough time as I saw an axe-like weapon being thrown at the Ursa. It was aimed right at its head and with ease, it severed its head. The Ursa vanished shortly after and I could finally catch my breath. "Well, that's definitely one way to get the job done." I said as someone jumped down from a nearby tree branch. It was a boy, around my age. He had short dark blue hair, yellow eyes, and he had scales along his arms. I saw him pick up his weapon and change it to what looked like a thompson style machine gun. I walked over to him as he was doing that. "Thanks for the save. I couldn't make any distance with that thing chasing after me." I said with a small chuckle. "Don't mention it. Just glad I could help." He said as we shook hands. "You're a Faunus, aren't you?" I asked curiously. "Yeah, is there a problem with that?" The boy asked me with somewhat of a defensive tone. "Sorry, I didn't mean to say it like that. There's no problem here. I was just asking. My name's Drake Colburn. You?" I asked him as he bowed to me. "Temair Moonfist. A pleasure to meet you." Temair said as I bowed back to him. "Well Temair, seeing as you are also alone... I would say we just became partners." I said as he nodded in agreement. He then looked at my weapon in my hand and grew a curious look. "A powerful weapon you wield. Only true warriors give their weapons a name though. Do you have such a name?" Temair asked me as I held up my gun. "This is Sky Blazer. And what about you? Mind showing me your weapon?" I asked him as he pulled his gun off of his back.

"This is Heavens Glory. I modeled it after an older style of weaponry, but with my own adjustments of course. And as you say, it has a gun mode and an axe mode. I'm sure your weapon is capable of the same change?" Temair asked me as I nodded. "It really is impressive. Glad I could meet you. Now, how about we get back on track?" I said as Temair agreed with me. "That would indeed be the wise decision. We can discuss each others qualities along the way." He said to me as I let out a small chuckle. We then got back on track, heading north again. The whole trip through the forest was an interesting one, but only a few thoughts really came to my mind as I was walking through it. "Hopefully Leena's found a partner. And more importantly, someone who she can work with effectively. And... I hope that my new partnership with Temair goes well. Otherwise, this is going to be a long 4 years."
