Hideout

March break has just started for me, so i'm saying sorry now because it'll probably be a while before I release this chapter or any chapter for any of my series. I've got a pretty busy schedule for March break so lots of things will be getting in the way of me producing more chapters. However, I'll most likely have a handful of chapters for each of my series produced in a week when I get back to college. And also, there will still be the odd chapter release over the next week. Just keep an eye out for any updates. And lastly, if you have any ideas for this series or any of my others, please don't hesitate to leave a comment or message me directly on Wattpad. I'm always there to respond and have an interesting conversation. Enjoy!

-Point of View: Leena-

After clearing out more Grimm in the area, Oobleck finally gathered us all together. "Excellent work, everyone! All of you seem to be efficient in slaying Grimm with ease. But, it'll be dark soon so we should find somewhere to set up camp. Everyone spread out to find somewhere suitable." Oobleck said as everyone agreed and began to walk around. I checked a few nearby buildings that looked like they were still in tact. I was hoping to find a building that had a higher up floor that looked stable but all the ones I went into had huge holes in the floor on each level. No luck for me. And as I was exiting the building I was in, I was met by doctor Oobleck. "Any luck, Ms. Myst?" He asked me as I just shook my head. "Sorry sir. No luck in any of these buildings. Has anyone else found anything?" I asked him as he shook his head too. "Not yet, but i'm sure something will appear soon. But, that's not the only reason I've come here. If you have or haven't noticed yet, I've been speaking with everyone individually, wanting to know why they wished to become Huntsman and Huntresses. And now it's your turn. So tell me, why did you want to become a Huntress? What made you want to come to Beacon instead of staying in Vacuo and attending Shade?" Oobleck asked me as I put deep thought into his question. "I don't if you've asked Drake this question or not yet, but he'll probably give a similar answer. Ever since I was a little girl, I've wanted to travel the world. And after one day, both myself and Drake encountered a Grimm. We were saved by a Huntsman thankfully and the Grimm was defeated. We were both amazed to see what this man was capable of and we both wanted to become like him. He brought smiles to our faces and that's what I want to do to everyone else that I want to save. I want to make the world a safer place, and even if I only make a teeny tiny difference, at least it's something, and that makes me happy." I explained to Oobleck as he nodded with me. "I see. Well you were correct, Drake did give a very similar answer. And I assume you not attending Shade was because of your dream to travel Remnant?" He asked me as I nodded. "Absolutely. And because I did that, I've met so many new friends. Team RWBY, JNPR, Amber and Temair. They've become part of my family, and i'm glad to have them." I explained as Oobleck just gave me a smile. "Thank you Ms. Myst. That will be all. Keep on searching for a place to camp for tonight." Oobleck said as he left me and headed over to Blake.

After about a half and hour of searching, Oobleck finally called everyone over to his location. "Ms. Belladonna has found a suitable location for us to rest for tonight." He explained as everyone just sighed. We were all so tired from fighting the Grimm earlier. Oobleck threw his backpack off and over to Drake and the others. "You six, set up camp in this building. Oh and please make sure there are no more of those creatures. Ms. Rose, Ms. Myst and I are going to secure the perimeter. Now come, you two." Oobleck said as we both followed him, Zwei coming along as well. Everyone else just sighed again and headed into the building to set up our camp.

The three of us walked for a few minutes before something caught the attention of doctor Oobleck. There was a clearing that went off into a forest. We could hear loud growling sounds in the distance ahead of us. And we soon saw what was making the noise when our eyes met with more Grimm. There was about 6 of them, each looking like an elephant. I had never seen a Grimm like this before. They were walking in single file way off into the forest. "What are those? They look awesome!" Ruby asked. "That my dear girl, is a Grimm." Oobleck said as we watched them walk through the forest. Ruby then pulled out her weapon and said "Let's kill them." Even I knew that was a bad idea. "I'm afraid your sniper rifle will do nothing more than agitate a Grimm of that size." Oobleck explained. "But, what if it attacks us?" Ruby asked. "Fret not Ruby, those Goliath's are not concerned with us. Not every Grimm is mindless. Or rather not every Grimm is still mindless. You see the Grimm you see before you are so powerful, so superior to the Grimm you just fought, that they've undoubtedly lived for hundreds of years. And in that time between killing humans, and attacking our borders, they've done one important thing, they'v learned. They've learned that when they attack our borders, they're likely to die. And what we lack in strength, we make up for in will. And that killing one human, will only bring more." Oobleck said which sent a chill down my spine. "Then, why are they so close to the city? What exactly are they doing?" I asked Oobleck as he just stared at the mighty Goliath's. "Waiting." Is all Oobleck said as he turned away and headed back to our campsite. Me, Ruby and Zwei followed but I grew a little curious towards the doctor. "Doctor Oobleck? I was wondering-" I tried to ask but Oobleck interrupted by saying "Mmhm? What is it Ms. Myst? Were you wondering why I've been interrogating you and your teammates all day?" "Kind of... but I was actually wondering... Why did you want to become a Huntsman?" I asked him as he looked at me and then at Ruby. "Look around and tell me what you see." Oobleck said as we looked at the buildings. "Lots of old buildings, uh, empty streets..." Ruby said as I interrupted her. "He means the people, Ruby." I explained to her. "Oh..." Ruby said. "Precisely, Ms. Myst. I see lives that could've been saved. As a Huntsman, it is my job to protect the people. And although I am capable of doing it with traditional weaponry, I believe I can make a much larger impact if I do it with my mind. As a teacher, I am able to take knowledge, the most powerful weapon of them all, and place it into the hands of every student that passes through my classroom. I look at this wasteland and I see lives that could've been saved. But I also see an opportunity. An opportunity to study these ruins and learn from this tragedy. And therefore become stronger. I am a Huntsman, because there is nothing else in this world that I would rather be." Oobleck explained to us as we entered the building. Hearing him say all of this made me give him way more respect than I'd given him before. Seeing him this way, he might just be the greatest and most powerful Huntsman I've ever known.

We went in and found everyone sitting on their sleeping bags, huddled around a campfire. "Ah wonderful! A textbook campfire!" Oobleck said as he crouched next to it. Ruby did the same as she was shivering. I didn't feel that cold so I just stood back for now. "Very good. Eat your dinners and hurry to bed. We have a lot of ground to cover tomorrow and we'll need to take turns keeping watch over our temporary abode. Any volunteers for first watch?" Oobleck asked as me and Ruby raised our hands at the same time. "Even better. One member from each team can watch over this location at the same time. That'll be a much safer idea. Good work everyone. I'll see you all in the morning." Oobleck said as he bolted into a different room than where we were all staying. "Everything look good out there?" Temair asked us. "We've got nothing to worry about for now. A few Grimm way off in the distance but doctor Oobleck says they won't dare come into the city." I explained as everyone gave me a nod. "Well then if that's the case, we should all get some rest. I'm sure we've got a long day ahead of us. Leena, i'll take watch after you and Ruby. Wake me in like... 2 hours I guess." Drake said to me as I gave him a nod. "Yeah, wake me up too. I'll help out." Yang said as she laid down on her sleeping bag. Everyone else did the same as me and Ruby sat down next to a hole that led outside of the building. We were situated on the second floor of this building so we at least had the high ground if more Grimm showed up.

-Time Skip: 1 Hour-

Me and Ruby were still on watch. Nothing had really come by yet, and the only slight disturbances were some Grimm howling way off into the distance. It was going to be a long night for all of us. "I'll be right back. Just gonna warm myself up by the fire." Ruby said to me as I gave her a nod. It was kinda chilly out now. I had grabbed my red jacket and put it on over my black shirt. Even then, it was still cold. Ruby went over and put her hands by the fire as I looked out the hole in the wall and saw the empty streets of Mountain Glenn. It was so sad, thinking that this place was once as inhabited as Vale. And now, it's completely gone to waste. "Zwei! Wait! Come back!" I heard Ruby say as I looked over to her. Zwei ran out the door to the bottom floor of the building and I saw Ruby run after him. "Oh great. I guess I should go after her just in case." I thought as I got up and ran after her. Before I left, I quickly woke up Drake and told him the situation. I apologized for waking him early but he was fine with it. I then took off after Ruby and headed downstairs. When I reached the bottom, Ruby was standing out in the street, holding Zwei in her hands. "Why'd he run off like that?" I asked Ruby as Zwei let out a single bark. "Oh, he just had to pee." Ruby explained. "It's a wasteland. He could've done that anywhere." I said to Ruby as she just laughed. "He's a dog. Try telling him that." Ruby said as Zwei barked again.

"What was that?" An unknown voice said in the distance. Me and Ruby looked to each other and stayed quiet. "What was what?" Another voice said, much louder this time. Whoever had said it was getting closer to our location. "Hide." I said as me and Ruby ducked behind some cover. Ruby kept Zwei's mouth shut so he wouldn't bark anymore. I peered around the corner and saw two people walking down a street in the distance. And their uniforms were all too familiar. They were White Fang members. "I thought I heard a Beowolf or something." One of the men said. Both of them were armed. "Let's just finish our patrol and head back to base. This place gives me the creeps." The second man said as both of them turned and headed back in the direction they came in. "I knew there was something going on here. Let's follow them, and see if they can lead us to their base." Ruby said as I agreed with her. "We'll follow but we won't fight. If they lead us to their base of operations, we head back and tell the others. Got it?" I asked Ruby as she gave me a nod. We then got up and creeped our way over to where we saw the White Fang members. We got there and they were still in view. We followed them for a while but they finally came to a huge metal door.

Me and Ruby were leaning around a corner, watching the two men enter the building. The door closed and we went back around the corner to discuss. "Ok, as far as we know, that's where their base is. I'll call my teammates and let them know what's going on." Ruby said as she took out her scroll to make the call. "Oh no." Ruby said. "What's wrong?" I asked as she held up her scroll. It read "No signal" on it, meaning she couldn't make the call. It also meant that I couldn't make any calls either. "Great. Let's just head back. We're not too far anyway." I said as Ruby gave me a nod. We started to walk back to our own base but we stopped when the ground started to shake. There was a loud noise, like a muffled explosion and it felt like it came from beneath us. "What was that?" Ruby asked but neither of us could give an answer. Before either of us knew, the ground beneath us gave way and collapsed. We both fell but I was able to grab onto a piece of the road that was still in tact. At the same time, I grabbed Ruby's hood and stopped her from falling. We were literally hanging by my fingertips. Zwei came over as he was still in the road and he looked into the hole we were hanging in. "Zwei! Go find the others! Try and tell them where we are!" Ruby yelled to him as he gave us two barks. Zwei then ran off and we had to hope he understood. "Ruby... I can't... hold on... anymore!" I struggled to say as I lost my grip on the road. We both fell into the hole, screaming our heads off.

We quickly landed on a hard floor. "Ow." I quietly said as I tried to get back up. I sat up and brushed to dust off me. I looked over and saw Ruby coughing up some dust. Thankfully, she looked alright. We both stood up and looked around to see where we were. We seemed to be on the top of a building that was built underneath the ground. And after getting a better view of our location, we discovered that there was in fact, an entire city underneath the one above the surface. "What is this place?" Ruby asked as a loud bang sound occurred behind us. We both turned and saw two White Fang members come out a door to the roof we were on. We both reached for our weapons but found nothing to grab onto. I looked over my shoulder and saw my weapon was missing. "Crap! I must've dropped it somewhere when I landed. And it looks like Ruby's having the same luck!" I thought as the two White Fang members walked over to us, pointing their weapons at us. "Don't move or we will shoot." One of the men said to us. We had nowhere to run, three of the sides led to a tall drop off the building and the last side was blocked by the two White Fang members. "You two are a long way from home." The other member said as they went to grab us. I pulled my arm back before he could grab it and I went to punch the mans face. As I thrusted my fist at him, he quickly reached up and caught it mid-swing. He then headbutted be and hit me with the butt of his gun. I fell to the ground and I saw Ruby was forced onto the ground as well. "The boss is gonna wanna see these two for sure." One of the members said as he kicked me square in the face. I blacked out after that.

When I came to, I was being dragged across the ground on my knees. Everything was a bit hazy, but I could see Ruby was in front of me, also being dragged but on her back. I tried to look around and I was able to see hundreds of White Fang members, and it looked like they were shipping out weapons. They even had more of those new Atlas Mechs that Drake told me about. We came to a stop shortly after. I was forced to stand up and the two White Fang members with me held my arms behind my back so I couldn't escape. The same was done to Ruby. We stood next to a huge train and the White Fang members were loading it with all the weapons. "Hey boss! We found something you might wanna see!" One of the members holding Ruby said. "Is it good or bad, because let me tell ya, I've had a day." A familiar voice said. "Uh... it's two little girls." The same White Fang member said. And then, appearing out of one of the train cars was an all too familiar face. Torchwick. "That would be bad." He said as he hopped out of the train car and over to Ruby. "Let her go, boys. Little red and me have a little bit of catching up to do." Torchwick said as he swung back his cane. He smashed it against the side of Ruby's face as the White Fang members let her go. Ruby fell to the ground in pain, and I couldn't do anything except watch my friend get hurt. "Stop it! Let her go!" I yelled to Torchwick as he just started to laugh. "And who might you be? You look somewhat familiar... but where have I seen you before?" Torchwick asked as he walked right up to my face. "I was there at the docks that one night, when we put a wrench in your plans. Now let us go!" I yelled to Torchwick as I spit on his face. "Little Ms. Bright Eyes... you have just gotten yourself a one way ticket to the land six feet under. But that'll have to wait. I've got unfinished business with little red here." Torchwick said as he walked away from me and back over to Ruby. "You're way more manageable when you're not carrying around that over sized garden tool, you know. But seriously... How'd you two find this place, Red?" Torchwick asked Ruby as he held up his cane gun to her neck. Ruby gave him a quick glare and then activated her semblance. She bolted past Torchwick in the blink of an eye and made a run for it down the train tracks. "Where do you think you're going!" Torchwick said as he flipped his cane around and fired off the handle which was attached to a cable. It latched onto Ruby's shoulder and Torchwick puller her down. He then began to retract the cane handle back to him, bringing Ruby along with it. "I see you've got some tricks up your sleeve. So let me make this clear. We're not through here yet." Torchwick said as he put his foot onto Ruby's gut.

At the same time, a loud thunder-like sound occurred and shook the entire cave system. "What the... what the heck was that?" Torchwick asked as another thunder sound occurred, this time much louder. "Hey, if some of you could go and take care of that, that would be great." Torchwick said to some of the White Fang members as they went over to where all the noise was coming from. When the members rounded a corner, they were met by a huge explosion that blew them all away. "What is going on here!?" Torchwick asked as a relieving sight came running around that corner. It was doctor Oobleck and he was leading all of our friends into battle against the White Fang. "Ruby! Go now! Make a run for it!" I yelled as she got back up to her feet and hopped onto Torchwick's shoulders. She jumped off and made him lose balance. She then used her semblance again and made it safely over to our friends. "Oh for the love of... Spread the word. We're leaving!" Torchwick told some members of the White Fang as he went to get on the train. "What about this one?" One of the White Fang members holding me asked. "It appears bright eyes may be a little more useful than I thought. She's coming along for the ride. Take her to the front and the  cuff her. We don't want you to miss any of the fun after all." Torchwick said as he stroked my hair. I just gave him a heavy glare back as I was escorted into the train. I was taken to the front and the White Fang members handcuffed me to a metal pipe. Torchwick was here with me, along with a few other members of the White Fang. "What if they try and get on the train? What do we do then?" A member asked. "We'll be there to welcome them, of course. And if they manage to make it this far, i'm sure they'll be much more agreeing when they see the little birdy I've acquired." Torchwick said as he just looked to me and laughed. And then, out of nowhere, appearing next to me was a girl wearing a white jacket with pink and brown hair. "Ah, Neo. Just on time. We may be getting guests later. I assume you know what to do?" Torchwick asked her as she simply gave him a nod and left. Drake told me about this girl before when he and Amber fought Torchwick a few weeks ago. She was able to perform actions before anyone could notice it happen. She managed to make herself and Torchwick disappear within a second. If she's as good as Drake told me, then i'm really worried for my friends. And here I am, able to do nothing but hope that they can find me, and finally put a stop to Torchwick.
