Haven Academy
It's time to start volume 5. In my opinion, this volume or volume 4 are the worst ones. And like I said before, that's not going to discourage me from doing this whole thing. I'm just saying that about the actual RWBY series. But as the previous volume told me, having the DLTA members in each characters situations made everything so much better for me. So hopefully, it'll be the same for volume 5. Also, if you're wondering why I decided to not include some of the other parts of Blake and Yang from the end of volume 4, it's because there just wasn't enough content for either side of their story. I'll include those parts during their next chapters though, I promise. But for now, let's just get into this thing. Enjoy!
-Point of View: Amber- -Time Skip: 2 Days-
When Qrow finally recovered, all of us left the medical centre and began to make our way to Haven. "It's about time we headed to the academy. Who's idea was it to walk again?" Nora said. "Well, we did face many obstacles. Broken airships, destroyed settlements...." Ren said as Jaune jumped in. "Oh, and you know, all those people and monsters who tried to MURDER US?" He said which made me laugh a bit. "*Pfft* we were fine. Only one of us almost died." Ruby said as Qrow looked back at her. He was leading us through a tunnel which lead us into the heart of the city. "So, how much farther to Haven academy?" I asked. "Almost there. Just figured i'd take you kids on the scenic route." Qrow explained as we reached a doorway at the end of the tunnel. Qrow opened up the doors and light filled the tunnel. We walked through the doors and coming into view was Mistral in all its glory. We could see a gorgeous waterfall that cascaded around the beautiful buildings in the city. The grass looked so green and the air felt so clean. This place truly made you feel at peace. We could see the people crowding the streets, as well as, dozens, maybe even hundreds of unique vendors. "Vendors here will sell you pretty much anything, whether they should or not." Qrow explained. "They really made the most out of these mountains, didn't they?" Jaune said as we all agreed. "Every inch. But stay away from the lower levels. The higher up you go, the nicer it gets." Qrow said as Nora jumped in. "And we are going up!" She said as she pointing upward. She was right though. According to Qrow, Haven academy was situated at the top of Mistral. We continued our trek through the city until finally, we arrived at Haven.
We walked through Haven's courtyard and up to its main building. All the buildings in the academy were constructed with something similar to a Buddhist style architecture. We entered through the main building but we were met by an intimidating silence. "Hello?" Ruby called out as we began to walk through the halls. "Is anyone here?" I called out but there was no answer. "Maybe try.... louder?" Nora suggested. "There doesn't seem to be anyone here." Ren said. "Well, I guess school isn't really in session right now. Maybe that's it." Jaune said as I looked over to Qrow. "No, this isn't right... C'mon." He said as he began to run. We followed him until we all came to another door. Qrow pulled out his weapon and we all did the same. "Get ready. It could be trouble." Qrow said as he kicked the doors open. On the other side was an older man with gray hair and a beard to match. He wore an outfit with different shades of brown, gray pants and brown boots. He let out a scream of fear and we all did the same as we were a bit shocked. The man then fainted on the spot and fell onto his back. "Uh... Professor... Lionheart?" Ruby hesitantly asked as the man slowly began to get back up. "Qrow! For crying out loud, you nearly scared me half to death!" The man said as he rose to his feet. "Me? Why weren't you waiting for us at the entrance?" Qrow asked the man. The man then pulled a watch out and looked at the time. "Oh, right. Apologies. I guess time slipped away from me." The man said as I made the connection that this was Leo Lionheart. "You're joking, right?" Qrow asked. "Where is everybody" Nora asked as Leo looked at all of us. "Ah, you must be the students Qrow mentioned." Leo said as we nodded to him. "Yes, sir! Ruby Rose!" Ruby said, introducing herself. "Jaune Arc." Jaune said. "Nora Valkyrie." Nora said. "Lie Ren." Ren said as he bowed. "And i'm Amber Lisa. Pleasure to meet you." I said as I also bowed. "A pleasure to meet all of you. Leonardo Lionheart. At your service. I'm afraid most of my staff is currently away until classes resume, but-" Leo said but Qrow cut him off. "What!? Leo, you can't be serious. Who's guarding the relic?" Qrow asked as Leo began to look nervously at all of us. "Qrow, the children-" He began to say but Qrow cut him off again. "Already know. I filled them in. What do you mean your staff is away?" Qrow asked. "You... filed them in?" Leo said rather suspiciously. "Soooooo, is this not going at all like anyone thought it would?" Nora asked as I agreed with her.
"Let's continue this discussion in my office, shall we?" Leo said as Qrow stepped in. We all followed and the doors behind us shut. Leo's office was a large semi-circle, books all over the walls and behind his desk were windows that viewed nearly all of Mistral. Leo sat down at his desk and then let out a sigh. "I have to say Qrow, this is reckless, even for you." Leo said as Qrow stepped up to his desk. "No, reckless is leaving one of the relics completely unguarded. It's not checking in with Oz for ages." Qrow said in an angry tone. "There was nothing to check in about before the fall of Beacon. But since that day, Mistral has been in chaos! Vale wasn't the only kingdom to suffer that night. Everyone was watching. Every house in every kingdom saw that poor girl ripped to pieces, saw monsters crawling over the city, Atlesian Knights attacking citizens.... and then nothing. You could feel the dread in the air. And with all the negativity, you can imagine what it was like when the Grimm came for us. Mistral's controlled territory is the widest reaching in the world, y'know, and that make sit infinitely harder to protect. We lost so many great huntsmen, teachers from this very institution, and it's only gotten worse." Leo explained as I put my head down, remembering what happened that night at Beacon. "W-What do you mean?" Ruby asked. "We may have dealt with the Grimm, but the Mistral council's still at odds with representatives from Atlas. First, it was the Dust embargo. Now, it's the closing of borders. I'm not sure what happened to Ironwood in Vale, but it seems to have only worsened some of his more.... unfortunate tendencies. And, on top of everything, we still don't know where the Spring Maiden is." Leo said as Qrow stepped in. "All the more reason we need the huntsmen and huntresses here." He said, sounding like he was getting ore ticked off. "Okay! Okay. Things are bad! They're bad. But we can figure this out. Why is the Spring Maiden so important?" Ruby asked Leo as he looked at all of us and then at Qrow. "I thought you filled them in?" He asked him. "Mostly filled in. Look, there's lots to cover, okay? I quit teaching for a reason." Qrow said as he took out his flask and began to drink from it.
"The Four Maidens each have the power to perform feats of magic, and they are the only ones capable of reaching the relics." Leo explained. "What?" I questioned as Qrow stepped in again. "The relics are locked inside a chamber that can only be opened by a specific Maiden. Winter for the gift of creation, Summer for destruction, Fall for choice, and Spring for knowledge. Spring is the problem." Qrow explained as he took another sip from his flask. "What happened to her?" Ren asked. "She was determined at first when she inherited her powers, but the weight of responsibility proved to be too much for the child. She... ran. Abandoned her training, everyone. That was over a decade ago. There's no telling where she could be now." Leo said as he put his head down. "I know." Qrow said as Leo perked his head right back up. "At least, I have a pretty good idea." Qrow said as Leo stood up from his chair. "Are you serious?" He asked. "It's not exactly good news." Qrow explained as Leo walked over to him. "What are you talking about? This is incredible news! After all these years? Where!?" Leo asked rather happily. "I did some digging around. Looks like after Spring ran away, she was picked up by bandits. Specifically, the Branwen tribe." Qrow explained as I recognized that name. That was Qrow's last name. "Raven." Leo said as he put his head down again. "Yang's mom?" Jaune asked as Qrow put a scroll on Leo's desk and pulled up a holographic map. "That's right." He said as he pinpointed a location in Anima. "That's about where they've set up their main camp. It's where they fall back to after raids and scouting missions. Raven's managed to gain a lot of followers since she returned to the tribe. And i'm sure when the Spring Maiden showed up it only made things easier." Qrow explained as I looked at the spot on the map. It was closer to the southern portion of the continent of Anima, meaning we most likely passed by the camp while we traveled north to Mistral. "Well, Qrow, I've gotta hand it to you. With these coordinates, we can mount a retrieval force and head out in a few weeks." Leo said as he stepped over to the scroll and pull of a holographic keyboard. "A few weeks?" Qrow asked in confusion as Leo shut down the hologram by hitting some buttons on the keyboard. "That's right." Leo said as he walked over and sat in his chair again.
"Leo, maybe you didn't hear me. My sister has the Spring Maiden and I know where she is. We need to go as soon as possible!" Qrow said as he knocked some books off of Leo's desk. "And maybe you didn't hear me. This kingdom is in shambles. As soon as possible does not mean tomorrow, it means as soon as I can convince the rest of the council that I need huntsmen more than they do. Unfortunately, bandit tribes aren't high on their list of "priorities" when the threat of war is just on the horizon." Leo explained as Qrow butted in. "Then damn the council, we'll do it ourselves! You and I are trained huntsmen, and these kids aren't exactly pushovers." Qrow said as we all agreed with him. "Perhaps there's a more peaceful way to approach this?" Ren said. "We need to get Spring as far away from here as possible, but Raven isn't going to give up her most prized possession without a fight." Qrow said. "Unfortunately, you and your sister are evenly matched, and i'm not the fighter I used to be. No offense, but these students and I can't take on an entire bandit tribe and a Maiden that's no doubt had years to hone her skills. We need to be positive we can apprehend Spring, because if we fail, Raven and her tribe will scatter and we'll be lost. We get ONE shot at this. And it needs to be perfect." Leo explained as Qrow just let out a heavy sigh. "You know, Oz wouldn't be happy with any of this if her were here." Qrow said as he stared down Leo. "Perhaps you're right. But he's not and i'm doing the very best I can." Leo said as he also sighed. "There has to be something we can do?" Ruby asked as Jaune stepped in. "What about Cinder? She came with Emerald and Mercury from Haven. Do you have anything on them?" He asked as I saw him clench his fists tightly. "We pulled their files after the fall of Beacon. Nothing but lies and forgeries." Leo explained as I put my head down. "Well, I can't say this has been a warm reunion, Leo." Qrow said as he put his flask away. "I'm sorry. I know you've all traveled a long way. But I will do everything I can to help." Leo said as we gave him some nods. "Sure. We'll stay in the city for the time being. Local comms are still up. Keep in touch. C'mon kids." Qrow said as he took his scroll from the desk and began to leave. "It was nice meeting you, Professor Lionheart." Ruby said as I stopped and turned around. "It truly is. And had I have chosen Mistral as my choice for Huntsmen academy, i'm sure your teachings would've been very informative and knowledgeable." I said as I bowed to him again. "Likewise." He said as me and Ruby left the room and caught up with everyone else.
"So, what do we do now?" Nora asked. "There's an inn nearby. You five head there. I need a drink." Qrow said as he walked ahead of us and quickly went out of sight, no doubt looking for the nearest bar. "I guess we wait, then." I said as everyone sighed and agreed. We left the grounds of Haven and found the inn Qrow was referring to. We were able to get a large room, complete with several smaller rooms inside it, one for each of us. Ruby went to the upstairs portion to read the comic books she brought with her. Meanwhile, me, Jaune, Ren and Nora stayed in the living room area. Not much was said. I mean, we had finally made it to our destination. We thought we were so close to achieving our goals but now the distance has only widened. And i'm sure things were only going to get harder from here. For now, we were all just waiting for Qrow to return. But as we waited for him, someone knocked on our door. It wasn't room or cleaning service otherwise, they would've said something. Jaune got up and approached the door cautiously. We all stood up and began to prepare for whoever was on the other side of the door. He opened it slowly and revealed who it was. It was a young boy, a little younger than me. He had a white jacket on with light brown pants and brown boots. He also had greenish eyes and dark brown hair.
"Yeah. Is there a.... Ruby Rose here?" The boy asked as we all became suspicious. "Why?" Nora asked with a bit of an angry tone. "Well...." The boy began to say as someone stumbled around the corner of the door. "IIIIIIII found him! *pfft* Ha ha ha ha!" Qrow said as he stumbled in the room, clearly drunk. "I think her uncle could use some help...?" The boy said as he walked in. We took things a bit easier now since we figured this boy was just helping Qrow get to our room. Qrow fell over onto one of the empty couches, laughing the whole time. "I did it. I found him." Qrow said as we heard footsteps from above. "What is going on down there!? Can't a girl read her comics in peace!?" Ruby asked as she marched downstairs to see Qrow laying face first on the couch. She rolled her eyes and said "Qrow, did you get drunk again?" "Maybe...." Qrow said with difficulty. "Oh..." The boy said as we all looked back over to him. "You.... have silver eyes." The boy said as Ruby looked over to us. We all just shrugged our shoulders as we didn't know who this person was. "Who... are you?" Ruby asked. "Uh..... Well.... My name is Oscar Pine." He said. "Wait for it...." Qrow said as I wish he would just shut up. "But you probably know me as.... Professor Ozpin?" Oscar explained as the whole room went silent except for Qrow. "Ha ha! I did it!" Qrow yelled as he fell off the crouch and landed on his face on the ground. I couldn't believe what I had just heard. Could this boy really be Ozpin? How did her get here and for that matter, why is he here? It would seem that our goals have yet again gotten even further from us.
