Chapter Six
It wasn't long until we were at the bus stop closest to our house.
Next to us stood the Jones family that my mother talked about.
Seto was staring at the ground, and his parents were looking ahead, their faces hard and emotionless, not even acknowledging that Seto was there.
To be honest (ha), I felt bad for him. It was his choice, it's always been his choice. He shouldn't be treated as though he doesn't exist just because he made a different desicion than his parents wanted him to.
I scooted closer to him while his parents started up a conversation with mine. They weren't mentioning anything about the Ceremony, or Seto, I noticed.
"Hi."
He jumped a little at the sound of my voice. "Oh. Hi, Jenna."
"I heard what happened."
He sighed, not even fazed that someone had been talking about his choice. Growing up in Candor does that to a person. "And you think I'm a faction traitor, don't you?"
"Actually, no." I said, lowering my voice a little so my parents couldn't hear me.
He looked up, his eyes wide. "You're serious?"
I nodded. "Don't tell my parents, but I'm not sure if I'm going to stay, either."
He gave a small smile. "You're trusting me, a Candor boy, to keep a secret?"
"Technically, you're only going to be a Candor for another hour." I said. "I think I can trust you to keep your mouth shut for an hour."
He laughed a little, and then lowered his voice. "Which faction?"
"Dauntless."
He raised an eyebrow. "I wouldn't peg you for a Dauntless."
"Why? I don't look like a person who would jump off of a building if everyone else was?"
"No. You seem more...sensible than them, I guess."
"In a good way, right?" I grin.
"Whatever helps you sleep at night, Nathans."
"Shut up."
After a small period of silence between us, in which our parents were still talking, he smiled.
"Faction traitors together, then?" He outstretched his hand to me.
"I don't even know if I'm going to leave yet."
"What's stopping you?" He asked.
"Family." I answered, glancing over at my parents.
"Oh."
There was another period of quiet between us, and then he spoke again.
"You know, it's your choice. You should do what you want. You're the only one who lives with it. Everyone else will move on. At least-" He glanced over at his parents. "I hope they will."
"They seem to already be over it."
"They were pretty mad last night." He said, lifting his sleeve to show a dark purple bruise. "They didn't mean to harm me. It was an accident. Still..." he sighed. "It's a good thing I like purple."
"I don't think Mitch would ever get over it." I say.
"Mitch? He doesn't like me."
"How do you know?" I ask, and then I remember. We're in Candor. Of course he knows.
He shrugs. "Told me in Middle Levels. Nothing's changed since then."
I can't imagine Mitch telling anyone he didn't like them. I mean, I knew we were in Candor, but Mitch was always kind (at least, as kind as you can be in Candor) to me, and others in our classes.
In Upper Levels, at least.
In Middle Levels, Mitch was-well, to put it simply, he was a bully. I wasn't even his friend until towards the end of Middle Levels, where I decided that the best way to get him to quit it was to tell him that he was horrible.
Surprisingly for Candor kids, they were all too scared to do exactly that.
It surprised me, but it actually worked.
After that, we became friends, and before long we were inseperable.
"Well, if you do choose to go-" he said. "Faction traitors together?"
I laughed a little. "Sure. Faction traitors together."
He smiled, and the bus came around the corner, where both of our families boarded, and off we went to the Choosing Ceremony.

I know, I haven't updated this in forever.
To be honest, I really do feel bad that I haven't updated this in so long, but sometimes I get spots where I literally can't think of what should happen next. My entire creative mind goes completely blank sometimes. It's weird, but I always get it back :)
In other news, I want to dedicate this chapter to Seto. If you didn't know, Seto has completely disappeared off of the face of YouTube. He hasn't uploaded a video in eight months.
The only thing we've heard about him so far is that Deadlox said that he was okay in a recent video.
I doubt he's reading this, but if you are, Seto, I hope that you're doing alright, and remember, there will always be people who will accept you for you if you decide to come back.
That said, outro time! :D
