Chapter Seven: Team Animalia's Begining
--Seira--
The next week had been simple, Mandy had us all go through several layers of training courses designed to fit our animal and their abilities as a species.
To be honest, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Although, first, she had us all take an one-hundred and twenty-five question test about the animal we had some DNA from on some tablet-like thing that Mandy had made herself. But, sadly for Seth, it only had what he had called "lame science stuff."
The only bad thing about the test, though, was that none of us did very well, meaning that we all had to sit through many, many lessons on all six of our animals. Although, I actually learned a few cool facts about arctic foxes as well as my new friends' animals.
Apparently, arctic foxes aren't always white, which actually surprised me. In the summer, they turn brown. I also discovered that they have incredible hearing that helps them locate their prey under all the snow. Through, I only remember that because Mandy forced us to take notes on all of our different animals.
Anyways, now we were just finishing up the training courses. To go along with my newly found amazing hearing, Mandy had set up a game alike that one where someone would hide something under a cup and you had to guess which cup the item was in, except for this time she had me listen to a sound and then press three buttons with almost identical sounds. I had to find the one that matched the first one.
At first, it was hard. I was still getting used to my animal instincts and abilities and it was hard to concentrate with all the other sounds I was now picking up. But now, I could easily tell the first sound.
Since arctic foxes can survive temperatures of minus fifty degrees celsius, Mandy had also made this freezer and just let me do things in there for a couple hours.
I had just finished all of that and decided to go see what Mia was doing, as she was the closest one to me. She was in a large enough 'room' sort of thing. It didn't have actual walls but metal poles standing up with more metal poles connecting them together and blankets. More metal poles had been set up inside, connecting, and cardboard had been set on top, making the room dark.
Mandy was sitting in the center of the gym, where the training was going on. Seeing that I probably shouldn't disturb Mia, I walked over to Mandy, who was taking down more notes in her yellow notepad. "Hey, Mandy." I greeted her as I walked close.
Mandy looked up, bright pink hair bouncing and green eyes widened in surprise. "Seira! You surprised me!" she said, folding her notepad shut and laying her pencil down on top of it. I smiled but Mandy went on before I could say anything. "You've finished?" she asked.
I gave a nod, frowning when my hair fell in my eyes. "Got the sound thing right a couple times, figured that was all I needed to do." Mandy nodded as I brushed the hair away. "Yeah, that should be fine. Everyone's finishing up then I have something for all of you."
For a moment, I wondered what she could possibly have in plan now, but Seth came skipping over, interrupting my thoughts. "I'm done!" he announced, a smile on his face.
Mandy nodded. "Alright. And you managed to locate everything?" Seth gave a nod and Mandy opened her notepad again, scribbling something down quickly. "You two can sit down," she said, gesturing to the other open seats at the table. "I'll still be watching the others, but they'll probably be finished soon."
Sure enough, in a matter of minutes, Mia, Ravenna, Blake, and Elias had finished up and took seats at the table. A conversation had started, but I wasn't listening. I was watching Mandy, who had got up and was standing before the head of the table, her red panda ears twitching, probably with excitement.
"Alright!" Mandy announced, a smile appearing on her face. I could see that her tail was swishing back in forth by her waist. "Over the week we have been training, getting to know the facts and abilities about the animal that I injected DNA from into you. Now, you should be experts on your animal. But, before I go any further, does anyone have any questions about their animal?"
No one moved, we just had our eyes on Mandy. She nodded. "Okay, no questions. Just keep in mind that because you don't care about what you have to eat now, you have to eat it without complaining." Ravenna sighed. Elias put his arm on the table and placed his chin in his hand, spreading his fingers on his cheek. Blake drummed his fingers on the table.
"Okay, okay." Mandy put her hands in the air. "I get it, you're bored. But, we're going to get interesting in a second." Mandy picked up a large bag, that had apparently been at her feet, onto the table. It was about three feet long. She opened it, taking out a small black pole and placing it on the ground. Mandy tapped it on the front, pressing a button, and it grew into a two yard tall screen.
Seth had his eyes widened. "Cool! Oh wait..." he trailed off, realizing that they were in for another boring presentation. Mandy gave Seth a smile as she placed a projector on the table. "It won't be as long as the last lessons were, I promise." she said, but Seth just groaned, proving that he didn't believe her.
Mandy turned the projector on and a slide show appeared. Solving the Mutant Problem, was written on the top in a fancy font. "You all know I choose you to try and solve the mutant problem." She clicked a black pointer and the next slide came onto the screen. A few pictures of mutant, dark black and disfigured, appeared with the slide.
"These are a few mutant pictures I have found." Ravenna and Mia both scrunched up their noses in disgust. "They look weird!" Seth commented. The other two boys were silent. I raised my hand. "Yes, Seira?" Mandy said. All eyes turned towards me. I sighed, standing up and slamming my hands on the table. "Can't we get to destroying those idiots already?"
Blake stood up from the other side of the table. "Agreed!" Mandy sighed. "Sit down. I'll get to that." Both of us sat down. Mandy clicked into the next slide. "I have made suits for all of you to destroy the mutants. They're virtually indestructible, come with weapons I feel match all of your personalities and strengths, and best of all, they look amazing."
Mandy shuffled around in her bag again and pulled out an icy blue and black flat, but still circular, ball-like thing. "Seira, catch!" She shouted, smiling, and tossed it to me. I caught it and looked at it then back to Mandy, raising an eyebrow. "What do I do with this?" I asked.
Mandy's smile grew wider. "It's voice activated only by me, of course, and you guys. Seira," I had been staring at the thing she had tossed me. "Hm?" I looked up. "Say Team Animalia." Mandy instructed. I shrugged and repeated the words.
The icy blue and black thing expanded, covering my body in a suit. Something appeared in my hand as well and I held it up to see a black sword handle with an icy blue blade. The rest of my suit was the same color the thing had been before. I could hear the other's impressed muttering.
"What's with the password?" I asked, looking up at Mandy. She shrugged. "I decided to name you guys that, you're a team now and you needed a team name." I blinked, looking back at my sword and saying quietly under my breath. "Team Animalia." With that, the suit shrunk back down into its first state.
"Oh!" Mandy said, and grabbed out five more of the original flat sphere things, placing them on the table. Each was black with it's own other color. The five other colors being purple, yellow, red, orange, and green. She tossed the purple one to Ravenna, the yellow to Elias, the red to Blake, the orange to Mia, and green to Seth.
"Welcome," Mandy smiled. "You're all officially members of Team Animalia."
So happy right now. Good job, TheWarriorCatQueen You deserved this moment. It may be exciting for you to be working on this book, but it's even more exciting for me to know that someone out there cares enough to be my co-author. I never thought this book would be this popular. Thank you fandom, Team Animalia will be coming back. Don't worry.
Signing off, Kiera Savage!
