Dr. Stumph

"Welcome back Dallon! Any thing new happen this week?" I ask. "Nope," he says. I can tell he's lying. Somethings is up. "Well you sure do look happier then normal," I say.
"Ha," Dallon fake laughs, "that's funny because I'm never happy. You know that." "So you're not happy?" I ask. "Well," Dallon says. "Well what? We only get 45 minutes together let's not waste them. What happened this week?" I ask again.
"Well I got a new neighbor and he's also one of my students," he says. "A student?" I ask. "Yeah he's different, like me. I told him I was gay and-" Dallon says. "Dallon he's your student. I want you to find actual friends not someone who is required to talk to you. Don't you wonder how he would react around you if you weren't his teacher?" I ask.
Dallon stares at his feet, starting to cry. "Look I'm not trying to be mean I just don't want you to get your hopes up if the kid treats you differently outside of school," I say.
"H-He w-won't," Dallon cries, "H-He's different too and I c-can h-help him." "Dallon you can't go around helping people if you can't help yourself. When was the last time you self harmed?" I ask. "Not in a long time!" He says, getting defensive. "And you've been eating properly? What about taking your meds?" I ask. "Stop! Stop! Stop! You treat me like a crazy person who can't take care of themself," Dallon says.

"Dallon you know I'm not saying these things to make you upset. I just don't want to see you getting hospitalized again," I say. "That was two years ago I'm different now," Dallon says. "And it was three years after Ryan had you sent to the hospital. You don't get over things. You bottle them up until they explode," I say. "Don't you dare talk about Ryan like that! You didn't know him. I did. He just wanted to fit in," Dallon says. "I thought we were past this Dallon," I sigh, "Stop defending his actions. If he really loved you he wouldn't have done that," I say. "H-He did love me," Dallon says.

"Really Dallon, where was he when you tried to kill yourself. Huh? Does he know that you suffer from extreme social anxiety because of him? Dallon for your homework this week I want you to focus on helping yourself instead of others," I say. "Whatever," Dallon says. He is clearly upset with me. But I'm not doing my job if they don't get upset with me. I want to push them to get better and not hold their hand the entire way. I understand if that seems a little harsh but that's how I work.
