Jessica looked down and there was blood running down her leg.

"I'm bleeding!  You need to call Danny and tell him to get here now!  He has to take me to the hospital!"

"Let's worry about getting you there first."

"NO!  I need Danny!  Call him!" Jessica demands.

"Okay!" Mr. Freeman calls his assistant in and asks for her to call an ambulance while he calls Danny.

"Everything is going to be okay, Ms. Lange.  Just sit down and stay calm, alright?"

"I just want my baby to be okay!  I want Danny.." Jessica cries softly.

"He's coming, sweetheart.  Your baby will be just fine!"

"Can someone get Delilah out of class?"

"I'm sorry but I'll have to wait until Mr. Huston is here to sign her out before dismissal."

"Get her out of class right now!  Either Danny will meet us here and we'll have to leave immediately, or he'll have to meet us at the hospital.  I'm not leaving without my baby, go get her!" Jessica shouts.

"Ms. Lange—"

"For fucks sake, then call Danny and ask him if I can take her out of school!  That little girl is mine, it shouldn't matter!"

Delilah's POV.

"Ms. Parker, please let me check on Jessie!"

"Jessie?  You have got to be the most disrespectful little girl I have ever met."

"I'm sorry!  May I please check on Ms. Lange?  She's pregnant, and if she's sad, that's bad for Nyla!  PLEASE!" She begs.

Just then the receptionist walks into the classroom.
"Ms. Parker, I need Delilah Huston, please.
Her father is on his way for her."

"Something's wrong!" Delilah feels her heart begin to pound.

"It's okay, just grab your backpack and come with me, sweetie." The woman smiles.

Delilah runs to grab her bag, then quickly leaves.

"Is everything okay?" She asks.

"Yes!  We called your father just to make sure it was okay for you to leave with Ms. Lange."

"Where are we going?"

"Well you two are going to meet your father at the hospital."

"Why?!  What happened?!  Is he okay?!"

"Oh he's fine!  Nothing's wrong, they're just going to check on Ms. Lange's baby.  Everything will be okay!"

"That's my baby sister!  Is she sick?!  Is Jessica okay?!"

"She's going to be just fine!" The woman smiled.

As soon as Delilah saw Jessica sitting there in tears, she dropped her backpack and ran over.

"Mommy, what happened?"

Jessica looked at her and froze. She called her mommy.

She saw the fear in Delilah's face and brought her in for a hug.

"It's gonna be okay, baby girl! Baby sister is just fine, I still feel her moving around in there.
We just need to make sure she stays in there."

"We need to go to the hospital!"

"We're going right now, love. We're going to meet daddy there since he's closer to the hospital than he is here."

Delilah nods and grabs Jessica's hand.

"I'm here for you, Jessie. I love you."

"I love you so much more, sweet girl." Jessica looks her in the eyes with tears.

Delilah was amazing on the way to the hospital.
Jessica was so happy she had her there.

When they arrived Danny was there waiting for them. They worked quickly, and got Jessica back as fast as possible.

"She's kicking, so I think she's okay, but the bleeding.. why is there so much blood?" Jessica asks a nurse who was hooking her up to a fetal monitor.

"We're going to check your cervix, you could possibly be dilating, and that's why you're bleeding."

"Dilating?  I'm barely going to be nineteen weeks!"

"It is possible though.  Don't worry!  There are ways to stop your cervix from dilating."

Jessica laid her head back and covered her face with her hands. "Oh my gosh!" She cried.

Danny placed his hand on the top of her belly and spoke in a soothing voice.

"Baby, it's okay.  She's going to be fine."

"I'm such a terrible mother!  I've lost a son.. an—and now.."

"No, no, no!  Stop that, you're not going to lose her!"

Just then Nyla's heartbeat filled the room.
"You hear that?  She's so strong!  Just like her mommy." Danny smiled.

Jessica took a deep breath and closed her eyes.

Delilah smiled at the sound of her baby sister's heartbeat.

"She sounds cute!" Delilah says making Danny and Jessica laugh.

"She does sound cute, huh?" Danny smiles.

"Yeah!  Don't worry, guys!  I know my mommy and big brother are making sure that baby Nyla is okay!"

Jessica smiles and takes Delilah's hand.
"I love you, Princess."

"I love you too." Delilah smiles.

After being examined, they learned that Jessica's cervix was starting to dilate.  Of course Jessica felt extremely guilty.  She felt she let her baby down, as well as Danny and Delilah.

Thankfully there were ways to fix this.
After briefly talking, they decided to go ahead with a cervical cerclage.  A stitch in her cervix to prevent her from going into preterm labor.

Jessica had a night in the hospital to look forward to.  Danny and Delilah would be staying with her, of course.

"Look at her, she's exhausted.  Baby girl, why don't you want to go to grandma and grandpa's?  The baby's fine, I promise!" Jessica says, gently caressing her back.

"I don't want to leave you.  I want to make sure you're okay." Delilah says cuddling into Jessica.

"I'm okay too!  We're all okay!" She giggles.

"Well I still don't want to leave you.  I'll miss you too much!" Delilah gently squeezes her.

"Aw baby girl.. rest your pretty little eyes."

"Okay.." Delilah yawns.

Soon she was asleep and cuddled up with her favorite.

"So what happened?  You just started hurting?  Did something upset you?  Did you just overdo it?

Jessica looks down and plays with Delilah's dark curls.

".... I was fired today." She says in a low voice.

"NO!  Are you serious?"

Jessica looks up with tears in her eyes.
She nods her head and pursed her lips.

"I'm sorry, I don't want you getting upset again.
Everything's okay." Danny rubs her arm.

"I'm just sad.  I really loved my job, Danny."

"Aw honey, I know!  I'm so so sorry."

"It's fine.  I'll be fine!  It just sucks."

"It does!  I feel terrible."

Jessica nods her head.
"It's okay.  I didn't obey the rules.. It's fine."

"No!  It isn't!  I mean, really, what did you do?  Fall in love?  That's crappy that they did that, Jess!  They are going to be hearing from me very soon!"

"No Danny, don't.  Didi still goes there, don't do that.... Besides, it doesn't matter.."
Jessica then smiles.  There was so much happiness on her face.

"What does matter is that.. well earlier when Julianna brought Delilah from class.. she had so much fear in her little eyes.. I felt so terrible..
  But then.. she looked at me and—" Jessica smiles. "She called me mommy."

"She did?" Danny smiles softly.

Jessica nods.
"She did!  And she didn't realize what she had done, but.. it felt so nice to hear.  It made me feel so special."

"That's sweet!  Aw Jessie, she really really does love you.  I couldn't have chosen a more wonderful woman to bring into her life."

"Aw stop, I've cried enough today!" Jessica chuckles through her tears.

Danny smiles and kisses her forehead.
"Get some sleep, my beautiful."

Jessica smiles and takes Danny's hand.  She places it on her belly, then relaxes onto her pillow.
"Goodnight, love."
