Chapter 49: Together Forever
Are y'all ready for this book to end or what?
Author's POV:
Yoongi walked down the hall into a foyer unaware of the presence following him. There next to the door he saw a big black button labeled 'gate'. When he went to press it, he came to a halt as he felt something cold pressed against the back of his head.
"Well well well, look at what the cat dragged in." Yoongi huffed and rolled his eyes.
"Hello Jackson." He spoke in a monotone.
"Min Yoongi. It's been a long time." Jackson grinned as he cocked the gun.
"Not long enough." Yoongi scoffed.
"You know, it takes a lot of work to get something passed me, so tell me. How the fuck did you get in here? Who let you in?" That grin turned into a glare.
"Why you of course. Who else?" Yoongi mocked with a cheery tone.
"I'm sure I would've damn sure remembered letting you of all people in here, so I gonna ask again."
"Don't waste your breath. Here's what I can tell you though. I am the least of your problems right now so I suggest you put the gun down and walk away." Jackson burst into a fit of laughter.
"Wow. So lil meow meow thinks he can give me orders now? Tell me, when did you get a backbone. Last I remember, you were just some little mama's boy who thought he was bad."
"A lot has changed. And for one, I'm not that same kid anymore. Too much has happened."
"Like what? You're mommy didn't get you the new Xbox you wanted?" Yoongi just stayed silent. "Listen, I know what kind of man you are, and you're not cut out for something like this. Kook would always try to convince me that you'd be a good asset to our team, but I was right then and I'm still right now. You're just too much of a wimp."
"Oh really? Would a wimp put a knife through your bosses back and leave him here to die?" Yoongi slowly turned to face Jackson with the gun still aimed at his forehead. He then lifted his hands and backed away slowly.
"You're bluffing." Jackson glared.
"Am I? Because you see your boss crossed me and that something you don't do. Now you and your men are left with two options. You could either go try to save him and get caught or you can leave now and save yourselves. It's your call."
"And what makes you think that I won't just blow your brains out right now, get Jungkook and Jimin, and leave?"
"Because, I know what kind of man you are. And I've already hit the button so you only have so much time." Jackson furrowed his brow in confusion then clenched his jaw as he noticed the shorter had pushed the button with the back of his head. The younger was right. He had to choose and he had to do it quickly, and when it came to choosing someone else's life verses his own, the answer would always be his own.
"Don't you fucking move until I'm completely gone." Yoongi chuckled.
"Wouldn't dream of it."
——
"Do you mind passing the salt sweetheart?" Junsuk looked over to Jin. Jin didn't answer. He just grabbed the shaker and handed it to the man. This is how it's been going for the last four days now. He, Junsuk, and Yungjin would all sit at the table and eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner together. Right now it was dinner time and they were having a meal prepared by Mr. Jeon's personal chief.
"How is you new school Yungjin? Have you made any new friends?" He asked the young child to the left of him.
"Yeah. I met one guy. We traded food at lunch. He wanted my pudding and I told him that I'd only give it to him if he gave me his pocky sticks." The boy smiled as he told the story.
"Oh wow. Did you you here that Jinnie? Our son is turning out to be quite the business man isn't he?" Jin didn't answer, in fact he didn't hear the older at all. He was too busy picking at his food and staring off into nothingness.
These past few days had taken a toll on him. Yungjin still wasn't speaking to him. Jungsuk kept him locked up inside the house all day doing chores and housework to do until he came home. That was when Jin was supposed to help him 'relax' after a long day, and if he resisted in anyway, he was punished. Now he was supposed to put on a brave face in front of his son and act like they were some happy non- disfuncional family who bonds over family dinner.
"Jin? I asked you a question." Jin finally looked up. His red puffy eyes plagued by the dark circles under them met his so called lover's.
"I-I'm sorry what?" He answered a bit dazed.
"Yungjin, why don't you go play with your toys. Your Appa and I need to have a little chat." He smiled at the small oblivious boy, who just nodded and ran off. He spoke once the little one was completely gone. "I've been thinking lately, and.. I want to make this a permanent thing." Jin frowned.
"Isn't it already permanent? I mean I'm trapped. You got me. How much more permanent can it get?"
"I meant legally-"
"Legally? Oh wow, this should be good. Please tell me. How are you going to make kidnapping and blackmail legal? I'd love to know." Jin inquired with a sarcastic tone.
"Jin." Mr. Jeon spoke waringly. "I suggest you watch your tone. Unless you want me to bring out the bag again tonight?" Jin's blood ran cold and just like that, all of that courage disintegrated just as quickly as it came.
"I.. I'm sorry." He gulped.
"You're sorry what?"
"I'm sorry sir. It won't happen again."
"It better not, because next time, I won't just take it out on you." Mr. Jeon warned taking another bite of food.
"No please. You promised you'd leave Yungjin out of it." Worry spread through out his whole body.
"Yes, with the condition of your cooperation."
"Ok. I'm sorry. How did you want to make this permanent?"
"I don't want to sit here and pretend we're a family anymore. Let's actually be one."
"What do you mean?"
"I'm gonna marry you Jin, and we're going to be together forever.
——
Jungkook's eyes fluttered open. He looked up at the unfamiliar ceiling. He frowned as he looked down and found himself lying in a hospital bed connected to many different tubes. He tried to get up but something was restricting him. He looked to his left and saw that he was handcuffed to the bed. His mind immediately went to Jimin. Where is he? He tried to say something, but his throat hurt like a bitch, so he yanked at the cuffs trying to free himself. He had to find Jimin. He needed to get to him before they did.
"Jeon Jungkook. You're awake." Jungkook eyes shot up after hearing the voice of the last person he wanted to see. Lo and behold there he was standing in the door way notepad in hand.
"Shit. What the fuck is this?" He powered through the soreness of his throat and tugged at the cuffs some more.
"Not fun is it? Waking up in an unfamiliar place handcuffed to a bed. I'm sure Jimin didn't like it either." Namjoon mocked.
"Get this shit off of me and let me go." Jungkook demanded as his eyes bored holes into the older.
"No can do. See you just got out of surgery a couple of days ago and you've been in a coma ever since. You're still in recovery right now therefore you need your rest. In the mean time, I'm here to asked you some questions, and this time I'm expecting honest answers." The man came in and took the seat next to the bed.
"Where's Jimin?" Jungkook deadpanned.
"Some place safe and far away from you. Now tell me. Where is Kim Seokjin?" Jungkook chuckled only to wince in pain afterward. "Do you think this is a joke? You're about to go to jail for a long time son. I'm talking 20 to 30 years at least. I suggest you start talking now and maybe your lawyer can set up a plea bargain for you." Jungkook sat up with a smirk and leaned in a bit closer to the man.
"You got nothing on me detective. Where's Jimin?"
"That's were you're wrong. You have some sellouts amongst your crew, not to mention countless witnesses, and a boatload of evidence. Where is Kim Seokjin?" Jungkook's tongue pierced his cheek in annoyance yet he did not waver. Neither did Namjoon. So here they were staring down one another, both refusing to give in.
"Tell me detective. Was it you who put me in this bed?" It was Namjoon's turn to chuckle now.
"You don't remember?" Jungkook glared at the man. "It was your beloved best friend, Min Yoongi. Apparently you've pissed off one too many people. You should thank him though. He was going to let you die, but decided to let us help you instead."
"He should've let me die. That would've been the smart thing to do, but I'm not surprised. He's always been soft." Jungkook leaned back onto the bed and held the lift button until the bed allowed him to sit upright.
"Where is Kim Seokjin? You can't tell me that you had nothing to do with his escape." The detective persisted.
"And why can't I tell you that?"
"Come on Kook." Jungkook cocked his brow at the nickname. Only his friends called him that. "We both know that you made him take the fall for you and then helped him escape."
"You don't know anything. That's why you're here. To fish for answers you don't have. I'll tell you one thing though. You're being played."
"I'm being played?" Namjoon looked a him in disbelief.
"Yeah."
"Oh really? By who? You?" Jungkook laughed again, this time, ignoring the pain.
"You're in way over you head. I suggest you get out now while you still can."
"Is that a threat?"
"It's a suggestion."
"What are you involved in anyway huh? Gangs? Mafias?"
"Wouldn't you like to know?" Namjoon didn't fail to notice the way evil glint in his eyes. "You know what? I'm done talking. Jimin can go run an hide, but I'll find him again and again and again with or without you. Do you know why? It is because this is how these things work. He won't get away from me as long as I'm living and breathing. We'll be together forever. Now stick that into your little notepad and then shove it up your ass." Namjoon hummed then wore a fake smile.
"Good talk."
"Yeah we should do it more often. Oh, and on your way out, do you mind telling the nurse to bring me a glass of water. I'm parched." Jungkook played along.
"Sure thing."
——
"Knock knock." Jimin entered the hospital room with a small bouquet of flowers.
"J-Jimin? Is it really you?" A groggy deep voice called out removing the covers from over his face to get a better look.
"Yes Taehyungie. It's me. How are you feeling? You look better." The blonde one smiled and Taehyung didn't answer. He only stared at Jimin like he saw a ghost. "Tae? You ok?" Taehyung shook his head to get out the trance he was in.
"Um no- I mean yeah.. I'm sorry. I'm just really surprised that's all." Taehyung frowned still wondering if this was a dream or not.
"What? You didn't think you own husband would come visit you-"
"Jimin I thought you were gone... for good. I thought he had taken you away forever." Jimin had rarely ever seen Taehyung look this serious.
"He did take me and then I got away, and then I went to him and then got away again." Jimin explained. Suddenly, Taehyung broke down into tears.
"Jimin I'm so so sorry I couldn't protect you. I tried. I really did." He sobbed.
"Hey hey, it's okay. It's okay. There was nothing you could do. It's not your fault. If anything I should be the one apologizing. It's because of me that your all broken and bruised." Jimin got in the bed and hugged him trying to calm him down.
"I thought you said I looked better?" He looked up at Jimin and they both broke out into small laugher.
"Wow I can remember the last time I laughed." Jimin deadpanned. They both just stared off in silence for a few minutes until Taehyung broke it.
"Jimin?"
"Hmm?" They spoke still in each other's arms and staring at the wall ahead of them.
"It's not your fault either you know."
"I know. It's just.. I can't help but feel a little guilty y'know. I just really wish I never worked there. That way I would've never met him, and we could've been at a better place in our marriage."
"Jimin?"
"Yes?"
"I cheated on you."
"W-what?" Jimin frowned as he looked back at Tae who still wasn't looking at him. He caught totally off guard.
"I made a mistake. I don't expect you to forgive me or anything. I just thought you should know." Jimin only sighed and looked back at the wall ahead.
"When?"
"Those nights I worked late."
"Why are you telling me this now?" Jimin asked curiously.
"Because it's not the kid's fault that we were in a bad place. It was mine. I wasn't the man I should've been for you. I took you for-granted and I didn't realize how much you actually meant to me until I was losing you. That's why I hit you. I was so scared in that moment that I didn't know what else to do, but that ended up making me lose you for good. I'm really sorry, and, again, I don't expect you to forgive me. I just love you so much Jimin, and I just think you deserve better. You're beautiful, smart, and so kindhearted that it's dangerous. For you I mean. I just don't want to see you get hurt anymore. Not by anyone and especially not by me." Taehyung took hold of his small hands as they stared into each other's eyes.
"I honestly don't know what to say." Jimin let go and got off of the bed. "It's jus-ugh" Jimin groaned and grabbed his head.
"Jimin are you ok?" Tae's voice was full of concern.
"Yeah. I think I just need to-" Jimin said with his hands out reaching for something to steady himself. Suddenly, he stumbled forward and collapsed onto the floor.
"Oh shit. Nurse! Nurse! We need help!" A couple of nurse ran in having heard Taehyung's cry. "Help him. He just fainted out of nowhere." They wasted no time to grab Jimin and hoist him up on a gurney. Tae just watched as they rolled him away. "Jimin- ah, please be okay."
