"Right everyone we've got a new addition to our teaching staff!" The joyful Head Teacher of the school, Mr. Rome, with chocolate brown hair and a bright smile stood at the very front of the staff room as he went through the agenda of the morning meeting. They had these meetings every morning and Ludwig was far past fed up with them. Most of them were useless and just included the head teacher chatting on about something completely irrelevant or unimportant.
"Her boyfriend is a good friend of mine so please look after her!" Ludwig sighed. The Head could be a nepotist sometimes. First it was his annoying, pasta-loving grandson who had been given a job teaching in the art department, though Ludwig recalled he talked more more pasta then the subject he was teaching itself. Now it was his friend's girlfriend he was hiring. Ludwig wondered whether she had skills in teaching or whether she was here because Mr. Rome was just friends with her boyfriend and was doing her a favour.
After Mr. Rome had spoke, the door opened and a slightly nervous looking girl shuffled quietly into the room to stand next to the Head. She had (H/C) neatly tied back and was wearing a grey skirt and blazer with a white shirt underneath. At least she dressed well for the job, unlike the Head next to her. She gave a polite bow.
"It's nice to meet you all, my name is (F/N) (L/N), I look forward to working with you." She raised her head again and smiled, receiving a small applause from the rest of the staff who greeted her warmly. Mr. Rome scanned around the room a for a second before his eye landed square onto Ludwig. That couldn't be good.
"Ah, you can let her help out in you class can't you Ludwig?" Why couldn't he have picked someone else, Ludwig was sure Feliciano could use some help in his art class yet of course Mr. Rome chose Ludwig. "I can assure you she can help you in your German class," Mr. Rome added on, patting (F/N)'s shoulder. His eyes met (F/N)'s for a minute before quickly leaving.
"If that's what you want," he replied and the Head nodded and patted (F/N) on the shoulder again. Ludwig had no idea how to handle this, he was never good at talking to women in the first place. The meeting went on for about 5 more minutes of unnecessary chatter before everyone was dismissed. (F/N) nervously approached Ludwig and flashed a smile.
"Um, hello Mr. Ludwig, I look forward to working with you." She gave him a polite bow like she had earlier and held out her hand for him to shake. Ludwig felt a little less uneasy then he did earlier, she didn't seem like she would be much trouble. He shook her small hand in his.
"Of course, I look forward to working with you too." A slight lie, he felt he would've been more comfortable alone, "I'll show you my classroom then Miss. (F/N)."
"(F/N)'s just fine with me." The girl laughed slightly, at least she seemed friendly and made conversation, that way Ludwig wouldn't have to start the conversation himself. Yet again, he was never good at talking to women..
After a short walk down the corridor they both arrived at the classroom which was still empty since it was early morning and students had yet to arrive. (F/N) found the classroom very well organised and neat, with no book, pen or pencil out of place, unlike the Head Teacher's desk which had pens kept in mugs and papers stacked messily on top of each other.
Ludwig began to show her where everything was from where the text books where placed to where the students work was put. By the end (F/N) had tried to remember as much as she could so she wouldn't be a burden. She'd kind of already guessed Ludwig would rather her not be there, so she resolved to try her best and help in any way she could, while being as less of a burden as she could.
"Do you think you can remember all of that?" He was almost like a drill sergeant with the way he was strictly telling her about the classroom. She nodded her head enthusiastically.
"I'll try my best Mr. Ludwig!" She smiled, yet something about it was off. Ludwig tried to ignore it.
"Good then."
Soon enough, once (F/N) had helped prep for the very first class of the day, the school bell rang and students began to enter the classroom and take their seats. (F/N) watched each one of them curiously. It had been a couple of years since she'd been to school and despite thinking how crazy her younger self would've considered it, she missed it slightly. She loved to help out people younger than her, maybe even inspire some people to do what she loved doing too; teaching.
Ludwig introduced her to the class as Miss. (L/N) and (F/N) almost grinned at the title now finally feeling like a proper teacher despite just being an assistant. She tried her best to happily greet the class with a smile and then stood by the side of the classroom as she watched Ludwig begin the lesson.
He was strict in his teaching but definitely was good at what he did. Students didn't mess or talk about in his class and did their work as they should. (F/N) took part when she could, helping with examples of German conversation and other things she could make herself useful with. When the time came finally for the explanations to be over and for the class to finally start doing some written work, (F/N) was slightly excited to help out. The class was very silent as they worked and though (F/N) knew silence was a good thing for concentration, she knew sometimes friendly atmospheres with light chatter helped too so people could share ideas.
When a student put their hand up to ask for some help, (F/N) almost leapt to her feet to go help them out. As she and the student talked about the problem, the table joined in too to give their advice along with (F/N)'s. Soon enough the whole class were discussing ideas about the problem and there was the light chatter that (F/N) had hoped for.
Ludwig watched from his desk as (F/N) helped the students with a smile on her face. His usually silent class had evolved to a class full of pleasant chatter. Normally, he'd go against that sort of thing but for once he found himself not minding at all. All the conversation he could hear was relevant to the work and it seemed people were doing better than usual. Ludwig glanced around the class again before his eyes settled back on (F/N).
She sure was odd. The girl he thought to be a burden had proven herself worthy in just the first morning class. She was sufficient in the German language and was proving Ludwig wrong in thinking she would just be a burden. He almost found himself smiling if it wasn't for one thing.
Just why did all her smiles look so fake?

It feels nice to start a new book! Although then I'll probably get writers block and it'll be left for a while ;; I'll try update this one as fast as I can, same with the others when I think up ideas. By the way, I won't be using German in this, just because I don't know any and google translate is kinda bad. Plus I just don't really want to anyway. Other than that, I hope you guys enjoyed!
Bye!
