Chapter 31 Promise

Kassidy POV

I walked out of the office, Killian was typing something on his phone.

"Who ya talking to?" I asked. He turned and looked at me and almost dropped his phone into the pot on the stove.

"Liam." He said quickly. My heart dropped. He was lying to me.

"Dinner is almost ready." he said "Did you finish your History paper? I could proof read it for you."

"No. I'll finish it later." I said and slipped on my shoes that were sitting by the fire. They were still a little damp.

"Where are you going?" Killian asked.

"Just got to step outside for a minute my head is a little foggy." I said and took my coat off the hook by the door and put it on.

"You okay?" He asked.

"Yeah. Peachy." I said and walked out the front door. I was not peachy. I was pissed off.

Killian POV

Kassidy had been outside for a little over 20 minutes, she had seemed a little irritated when she left so I wanted to give her some space, but it was freezing outside and there was still ice out there so I was getting a little worried. I turned the stove off and set the spaghetti on the back burner and walked to the door grabbing my coat before walking outside. Kassidy was sitting on the porch.

"What are you doing?" I asked.

"I don't know." She said. I went to sit by her but she stood up and walked off the porch and to the walk way.

"Kassidy what's wrong?" I asked.

"Who were you really talking to?" She asked.

"I told you.. Liam." I said.

"Really. Because I'm pretty sure it was fucking Milah! I saw the messages! Why is she messaging you Killian?!" She screamed.

Fuck.

I sighed heavily. "How did you see those?" I asked.

She scoffed. "Wrong. Fucking. Answer." She said and started walking away.

"Kassidy wait!" I said and followed her. She spun around.

"Why?! Why should I?!" She demanded.

"You have to let me explain." I said.

"Well you better fucking hurry." She said. "Why is she asking you to come over? and Why did you say you'd call her?"

"She's probably drunk, Kass. I said I was going to call her to tell her to stop messaging me. I promise."

Kassidy gave me a look that suggested she didn't believe me. I couldn't really blame her.

"Kass..come on its freezing out here come back inside. We can talk about this while we eat."

She shook her head. "No.. I don't believe you. Why is she even still on your friends list?! and why couldn't you just message her to stop messaging you. or I don't know Block her??"

"I don't know why I kept her on there Kass. It was stupid. I know, and I should have just blocked her. I figured if I called her, and she could hear that I wasn't interested it would get through to her. Please.. Believe me." I begged.

She sighed heavily. "I don't know what to believe." She said.

"Come inside. Please." I said and held out my hand.

"I'll come inside. Because I'm cold and hungry and its a long walk to Ruby's. But I'm not taking your hand." She said and started walking past me and slipped on a patch of ice.

Why the hell is she so damn stubborn?

She kept trying to get up, but kept slipping.

"Just let me help you." I said and extended my hand.

"I don't need your help." She said.

"Yes. You do." I said and just picked her up throwing her over my shoulder. "Your stubbornness is going to get you killed one of these days." I said.

"Killian! Put me down!" She said. I ignored her and carried her back into the house I set her down once inside and she narrowed her eyes at me.

"You don't believe me?" I asked.

"No... Not really." She said.

"Fine." I said and pulled out my phone and handed it to her.

"Block her, her numbers in there too block it." I said.

"Why?" She asked.

"Because, I love you. Only you and It was a stupid mistake keeping Milah on my friends list and I should have blocked her a long time ago. So do it." I said.

She looked down at my phone for a minute and then looked back at me.

"Why did you lie to me?" She asked. "Why did you try to tell me it was Liam instead of Milah and then expect me to believe you when you tell me you only love me." She said her voice broke.

"Because I am an idiot Kass. I knew if I told you it was Milah that you would be angry. But you got to believe me, I don't care about her anymore. I'm really sorry Kassidy." I said.

"Do you still love her?" She asked.

"No, I don't, we broke up two years ago Kass, we are done."

"She doesn't seem to think so." Kassidy said. "She said come over, as if you had been there recently.. Have you?"

I sighed. "Yes."

"Oh..my God. Killian!" She said. "I can't believe you!"

" It wasn't like that! I found some things of hers in my closet and I returned them a few weeks ago It was the first time she'd seen me since I left her and that's probably why she drunk messaged me." I said trying to calm her down before she ended up stabbing me. Kassidy looked down at my phone.

"Shes calling you..." She said. I reached out for the phone she held it away from me.

"Kass what are you doing?"

She answered the phone and put it on speaker phone.

"Killian??" Milah's voice came over the speaker.

"Killian is a little busy right now." Kassidy said.

"Who the hell are you?" Milah asked.

"You're worst fucking nightmare if you ever try to contact him again. Understood?" She said.

She is insane.

"Where is Killian?!" Milah demanded.

"Hes in bed. Where I just left him." Kassidy said in a playful tone.

"You little whore.." Milah said.

I took the phone from Kassidy before she broke it.

"Whore? You would know all about that wouldn't you Milah." I said.

"Killian?" Milah asked.

"Stop messaging, me. Stop calling me. We are done."

"We don't have to be Killian. I'm sorry."

"Sorry for what? That you fucked someone else while we were together or that it was my brother?!"

"Killian.."

"Fuck off Milah!" I said and hung up.

"Killian I...I'm sorry I shouldn't have done that." Kassidy said.

"No. Its okay." I said. "I shouldn't have tried to lie to you about the messages."

"What a bitch." She said.

"Yeah. Well.., that's Milah." I said. "Sorry she called you a whore." Kassidy shrugged.

"Its okay."

"No, its not because you aren't." I said and sighed. "Are we okay?" I asked.

"Yeah.. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have freaked out like that, its just things are going so good and when I saw her message and then you messaged back and I thought it meant you were still seeing her. I didn't know what she did to you and I feel bad for assuming you would go back to her." Kassidy said.

"Its okay, I should have told you about Milah when you first asked about her." I said and then chuckled.

"I can't believe you answered the phone like that."

"I do crazy shit when I'm angry." She said and wrapped her arms around me.

"I can see that." I said and embraced her.

Kassidy POV

After dinner Killian and I were sitting in the living room watching a movie. I still felt pretty bad for assuming that Killian would have gone back to Milah. No wonder he was such a closed book about her, and his brother.

"You okay?" Killian asked. I nodded.

"Yeah." I said and smiled at him and snuggled closer to him I had started feeling worse, and there was no denying it at this point. I was getting sick. I guess that's what I got for running out into the freezing rain last night, and then going out into the snow today.

"You feel like furnace." Killian said.

"I think I'm catching something." I said and shrugged.

"This is just not a good birthday for you." Killian said.

"Hey, it started out pretty awesome." I said and grinned at him. He smirked and got off the couch.

"Where are you going??" I wined.

"I'm going to make you some tea." He said.

"Okay, that's acceptable." I said. He walked into the kitchen. My text tone went off. I picked up my phone off the coffee table.

Ruby:

How's your weekend going? ;) Happy Birthday by the way.

Me:

Thank you. My weekend has been pretty good.

Ruby:

Just pretty good?

Me:

;)

Ruby:

Details. Stat.

Me:

Later, we are watching a movie.

Ruby:

Fine. Enjoy your "movie"

I grinned and put my phone back down.

"What are you smiling at?" Killian asked as he came back in with some hot tea and set it down in front of me.

"Thank you." I said. "And it was just Ruby, being Ruby she was asking about my weekend."

"What did you tell her?" Killian asked.

"Just that the weekend has been good." I said.

"Only good?" Killian asked with a smirk.

"Well its not like I'm going to go in to details, She'd never be able to look at you the same way." I said and laughed and sipped at my tea. Killian dug into his pocket for something and pulled out a small box.

A freaking ring box.

I apparently couldn't contain my surprised expression.

"Don't freak out, I'm not proposing." He said and smiled and handed me the small box.

"I meant to give this to you earlier, but with all the crazy I kind of forgot."

"What is this?" I asked.

"Its your birthday present."

"Oh Killian, you didn't have to get me anything." I said.

"I wanted to." He said and smiled. I returned his smile and opened the box.

It was a beautiful sterling silver ring with an amethyst heart.

"You left you left your mothers ring that you always wear on the nightstand the other day so I used it to figure out your ring size."

"Killian its beautiful." I said and took the ring out of the box. There was a date on the inside of the ring.

9-14-17

I smiled "That was my first day at Storybrooke, the day we met." I said.

"Its a promise ring. I wanted to give you something, so that you would know that no matter what happens, I promise that I love you and that I'm going to be by your side for as long as you'll have me." He said.

I slipped the ring on my finger and stood up and threw myself into his arms.

"I love you." I said. "Thank you so much."

"I love you too Kassidy." He said.

"I want to kiss you but I don't want to get you sick." I said.

"I don't care." He grinned and kissed me.

Best Birthday Ever.
