Chapter Five: 2 + 2 = 5

Professor Snape looked at the note Elira left and gave a small smile, quickly returning to his usual self and scoffing as he threw it down. He made his way to the great hall for breakfast and took his usual seat at the staff table.
He glared at the students and groaned to himself, "Another day with that blasted lot!" He heard a small giggle from his side and looked to see Professor Argolli smiling at him.

"Good morning, Severus." She said cheerily, "What's good about it?" He scowled in response, tapping his boiled egg with a spoon. "The past is the past, we are both grown adults now. Can we at least try and be civil?" Gwen sighed in frustration. "Indeed, I apologise." He replied, his eyes fixed on Elira who was sat with her friends at th Gryffindor table.

"She still won't talk to me..." Gwen told him sadly, "I would take it as a blessing." He scoffed with a smirk, "in all seriousness though, I'm so very worried about her... I never thought I'd see the day my own daughter would hate me."

Snape looked at the witch, he saw the sadness in her green eyes. Her dark blonde wild curls falling over her face as she dropped her head. "Why exactly is she not speaking to you? is it because of the situation with her father?" Snape asked nosily. "Skender and myself are getting divorced and she doesn't like it, she wanted to stay at Durmstrang with him but i wanted her here with me.. there's a lot more to it then I'm willing to explain."
Snape nodded in understanding, "She will come around." He said simply, returning to his breakfast. Thinking of Elira constantly as he finished his meal.

"Miss Argolli?..." Snape called out from behind Elira as she walked with Harry and Neville to class. Harry gave her a worried look and she shrugged her shoulders, the boys continued on their way with Harry glancing over his shoulders before turning the corner. "Professor Snape." Elira acknowledged flatly, "I wish to speak with you, alone. This evening perhaps?" He drawled in his abrasively deep voice. "I am not in trouble again am I Professor?" Elira asked nervously, slightly confused by her potion masters 'polite' manner. "I have no reason to punish you Miss Argolli I only wish to converse with you, it is optional as to wether or not you grant me my request."
"Ok... I will drop by the dungeons tonight." She nodded and headed on her way.

He watched her as she went, he was surprised by her sudden lack of attitude. He could only put it down to the fact he had looked after her the night before despite their annomosity. In honesty he found the girl puzzling, and he did not like being outwitted by a puzzle. No, he would learn the facts as he did in every subject that eluded him... A thirst for knowledge was in his Slytherin nature.

"You are late!" Professor McGonagall screeched as Elira entered the Transfiguration classroom, "Sorry, Professor Snape needed a word." she explained honestly, before being ushered to her seat by the old witch.

"What was all that about then?" Harry asked, straightening his glasses. "He wants to see me after dinner, and before you say anything. No, I'm not in trouble." Elira insisted before Harry could interrupt. "Snape doesn't do friendly chats Elira, you must know that by now?" Harry sighed.

He couldn't help but think that there was something more to Professor Snape's behaviour, to him it seemed as through Snape had a hidden agenda towards Elira's mother.
'He has some history with Professor Argolli... and if not he would sure like to make some.' Harry thought to himself, his eyes fixed on Elira.

"What are you thinking about Harry?" Elira asked with a sigh, after catching his puzzled look. "Honestly? I think Snape is up to something. He must have history with your mother or maybe he wants to get with her.."
"That's your theory? Really!" Elira scoffed and shook her head.

"I'm serious, he is trying to get to her through you, why else would he want to see you for no reason at all, hmm? unless... no he wouldn't..." Harry trailed off which a grimace.
"Unless what?" "Unless he fancies you!"
Harry smirked.

'No, it couldn't be that.' He told himself.

It was just after curfew and Elira was in the dungeons waiting outside the potions classroom, her hand was raised to knock the door but Harry's words gripped her wrist.

She straightened herself out and brought knuckle to wood, the door swung open and she was met with by an emotionless glare. "Miss Argolli..." Snape drawled slowly, moving aside to allow the young witch entrance. "Professor, What is it exactly that you wish to discuss?" Elira asked curiously.

Snape scoffed and took a seat at his desk, "I see that you're heading straight to the point, you do not wish to be in my company for long.. what a pity." He smirked angrily, deep down a little disheartened.

"Professor, I'm curious that's all." Elira smiled gently, "I want to discuss the problems between you and your mother, it's worrying." Snape explained.
Elira scoffed and shook her head, "Harry was right, you're trying to get to my mother!"
"What? No, I'm merely trying to understand..." Snape sighed, watching her storm towards the door.
"You don't need to go through me to get to my mother Professor, she's pretty easy enough as it is." Elira scowled and slammed the door.

Elira stood looking out from the astronomy tower, taking in the view as her lungs filled with fresh air. She wondered to herself why everything in her life was so messed up.
She thought of her ex, her old life, and her future.

"Miss Argolli, can I talk to you?" A familiar dry voice flowed from behind, she spun around to be face to face with Snape. "I think we have talked enough, don't you?" She spat, trying to come over as tough as possible.
Snape could see through it.

"I want you to know that you were wrong, before. I can see that you are troubled and I only wish to help. Not for your mother but for you." He insisted, his voice gentle and soothing. He watched as a years worth of emotion showed on Elira's face.

He took her in his arms as her gaze began to drop downwards and the floor was due to be analysed thoroughly by the witch.
She was stiff at first, but soon relaxed into his strong arms. "It's everything.. first my relationship with Bogdan, then my mum and dad, I hate her. I bloody hate her." She cried into his black robes.

"What happened exactly? With your father." Snape coaxed, "she cheated on him! lots of times and he finally had enough. She's a slag!" Elira spat venomously. "I see..." Snape replied knowingly, "I see? Is that all you can say? I SEE?"

"Sadly, the news does not surprise me at all. Let's just say your mother was rather promiscuous during her time as a student here." Snape explained awkwardly, "Please tell me you didn't..." Elira scrunched her face up in disgust, feeling partially jealous.
"Merlins beard no!" Snape gasped, horrified by the thought of ever sleeping with Gwen.

"Who is this Bogdan idiot?" He asked Elira as they walked back to the castle entrance. "I don't want to talk about him." She replied sadly, Snape knew whoever this boy was he had hurt her badly. He couldn't help but feel an inner fury take over, but in his usual cool, calm and collected way he just nodded in understanding and bid her goodnight.
