A note from Star

FUN FACT: The ending to book 4 was going to be the ending for book 3. I decided to swap the endings around and give the good one first, changing how the story was told. This is where the title for book 4 came to be and how the idea started.

~A special excerpt I saved from the early ideas for this book, back when this was going to be the ending for book 3 in Star's POV~

Hmm, what is that? You don't like that ending? That was the bad ending? Where is the good ending? Funny how you are asking those questions, because Merric and Lance are also unhappy with this ending. They were looking at me. My boys. Merric and Lance. The ones from the future. No, it is a mirror. They are looking into a mirror. The mirror shows their reflection. The reflection of their younger selves with determined looks in their eyes with smiles. Next to them was me. Their mother. Happy and well with a proud look in her eye.

They are going to do it. They are going to save me.

The two brothers leap into the mirror and it ripples like the surface was made of water. Once they are gone from my view, the world around me slowly turns from a deep black void to my memories slowly rewinding back. Back to the day they travelled back from their time. Back to the beginning. Before they had lost me again. I feel my memories being manipulated, slowly morphing with the changes the boys are making.

A smile forms onto my face as I am dropped into the memory, the day I become second in command mercenary as a Dark Sorceress class. The day I met those two brothers. Young boys, one was a mage and the other was a swordsman, wielding that silver sword. The day I birthed my first son, Merric. The day I trained him when he turned five. The day I birthed my second son. The day Lucina first gave news about the Daein group who was approaching the Kingdom. That day, the final story begins.
