Heya! ((Waves to newtgotmelike)) ENJOYYYY!

------

-Her POV-

I was going up. Up and up and up. I couldn't see anything except a blinking red light. I sat up and my bed spun, gravity fighting against me as I went up and up and up.

I gave up and just laid my head back down, looking over into the darkness.

I found myself surprisingly calm, other than my raging heartbeat and the my watery eyes. I didn't know what was going on but I just felt... Really sad. Like someone had taken something that my life depended on. Like someone had ripped out my soul. I felt empty, like there was a huge hole. I felt broken and smashed.

It seemed like I was going up forever. But, eventually, I stopped going up. The cold metal beneath me have me the impression I was IN something, which made more sense. It looked like I was just rising in a cloud of darkness, honestly. My eyes had started to adjust to the pitch darkness but I still could only see black and darker black, indicating whatever it was in had other things in it too.

When a harsh light cut through the sky-or, ya know, the space above me-I buried my eyes in my hands. SANNE, I thought suddenly. It registered that it was my name but it literally came out of no where. Okay then.

"Uh, anyone in there?" A deeper voice called out.

I heard a sigh and I looked up slowly, my eyes burning with the light after so much darkness.

"Hey. You okay? Please don't be dead. I hate being alone... Despite Nick but that's not really-"

"Are you going to keep blabbing on or do I need to guess your name?" I whispered irritatedly. My voice kinda croaked at the end and I wondered if I'd been screaming before I started coming up. I had to come from somewhere...

Wait. Where did I come from? I realized I didn't know. My eyes rose to the boy and all I saw was a blurry blob but I could tell that he was dark skinned and taller.

"I can't... Where did I come from?" I asked, suddenly scared.

A blob over to the head area. I think he was rubbing the back of his neck. Slowly, my vision was starting to clear as my pupils readjusted, screaming the whole way.

Finally my vision cleared and I looked up at the boy. He had a relived look on his face and dark skin.

"Welcome to hell," he said cheerily, which threw me off.

"What?"

"You'll see," he said vaguely. We got out of the box-which is what I realized it was as I looked around-and Alby-he told me his name after I asked again-gave me a tour and introduced me to the only other people here: Nick, Minoh, Fry Pan, and George.

Nick was the leader, Minoh was the only person who dared to run in "the maze" (the thing the openings led to. As I'd had to ask that,  remembered it.) and Fry Pan was the cook. Alby was struggling with fixing people up as a make shift doctor and George was the fixer in the Glade.

For a month I came to perfectly realize how not funny Alby was when he said that I was walking into Hell.

"Why don't we call it something else? It freaked me out when you said that. I don't think Greenies are ready to be thrown in like that," I said one night to my best friend, George.

George had brown sugar colored skin and knew Spanish, though he didn't know how, of course. He had black hair and brown eyes, muscles for miles and the best personality.

"What do we call it then?" He asked.

I shrugged. "The... Maze... Something? No."

"The Hole that Begins Hell?" George offered.

"Hush," I said.

"How about... The Trap?"

"George!"

"Okay okay. Um..."

"What about the clearing? No. It should be doing with the opening, cause we're just a big field with stuff on it," I said vaguely.

George laughed. "What are similes for field?" He offered.

"Hm... Clearing?"

"Grove?"

"Glade?"

My eyes snapped to him. "Yes!" I said, high-fiving him.

We rolled over then and went to sleep

-------
-a week later-

We all were expecting the Greenie today or tomorrow. Either way, it was soon. So when the Greenie alarm went off we simply dropped what we were doing and headed over.

I jumped down as I was the last Greenie as they opened it and touched the new Greenie with my toe.

"Morning, Greenie," I said humorously. The boys above me laughed.

He had blond hair like me but when he turned his head, his eyes were brown. He looked at me and squinted his eyes. "Do I... Know you?" He asked.

I cocked an eyebrow. "We don't know anybody! Or a throng for that matter! So don't worry about it Green-"

"No," he repeated. "I know you. I swear I do." I paused. He had a thick accent and I looked at Nick on reflex.

No one remembered anything. No exceptions.

"Okay," I said, turning back to the boy. "Do you remember your name?"

"Uh... Newt," he said after a pause.

"Well, Greenie, Welcome to the Glade!" I said, throwing my hands wide.

"I'm Newt," he corrected.

"Whatever Greenie. Let's get out."

We did, and when we stood, Nick moved to give "Newt" the look around.

Newt paused. "Can she take me?" He asked. He looked freaked out but I seemed to calm him.

Nick smirked. "Fancy Sanne, do you Greenie?"

"What? No. I just-"

"I'll take him," I said, putting up my defense. I didn't trust this Greenie. He sounded different than everyone and acted weird. Plus, it wasn't normal to remember or recognize anything. Why did he recognize me?

Was he with the Creators?

I glared at him and motioned him to follow. I heard Nick mutter, "careful Greenie. Sanne is 6 feet of beautiful, blond, green eyed, trouble."

I shot Nick a look. "Slim it," I said dangerously.

Nick walked away with his hands in the air and I have the Greenie the tour.

-----

He ended up being into Gardening. So we let him deal with that. I'd slipped into Alby's position as Doctor so he's moved on to cleaning out stalls, which he hated with a fiery passion.

After a few weeks he started getting curious. He found out everything he could and him and Alby became pretty close. George became a runner as we got a new Greenie that took up fixing things.

One day, George was late. I wandered to the doors, wondering why he wasn't back yet. He'd gone by himself for the fifth time today. Minoh had finally let him go alone and we had three new greenies since the builder after Newt.

The doors started closing and I freaked out. I ran right to the from of the doors and screamed George's name into the maze.

He came around a corner. My screaming brought the other Gladers.

I had the unquenchable urge to run in after him. My feet set and I would have take off if not for a strong pair on hands grabbing my arms and wrapping them around my body. George's leg was messed up and he was limping.

"GEORGEEEEE!" I screamed.

He looked up, and stopped. He raised his hand and made our sign. Then, he did something insane. He smiled, nodding to me like we were passing by each other in the glade, too busy to stop and chat.

Pointer finger and pinkie up and everything else down. "GEORGE!" I screamed one more time.

The doors closed as I rode free from the arms and launched at the concrete barricades.

I slammed against the doors and started pounding against it.

Arms encircled me again and pulled me away. I was crying and screaming his name.

"Senne, you have to calm down!" A familiar voice said forcefully.

I sat down, somehow now in the Homestead and sobbed.

"Not George. Anyone but him. Please, no. No no no no no nononononono NO!"

Newt pulled me to him and rubbed my back softly.

"He can't be gone, Newt. He can't," I sobbed.

"In sorry, Senne. I'm so sorry," he cooed.

We sat there until I stopped crying.

"Do you love him?" Newt asked me.

"Well, yeah," I said, looking at Newt. His face fell. "But... As, like, a brother. George always said that he thought he had a sister, because I reminded him of someone he couldn't remember."

"So, not as... A lover?"

"No," I said slowly.

Something clicked. "Why do you ask?"

"Uh, you know- no- reason..." He blushed and looked away.

I smiled and socked his arm softly. "Come on Greenie, we have work to get to."

He chuckled. "I want a nickname for you too."

"That's not a nickname," I said over my shoulder.

"But I'm not new! You haven't said my name once!" Newt complained. "Except in your sleep," he added.

I turned around and slapped his arm.

"I love when you do that," he said cheekily.

I rolled my eyes.

"That's it. I get a nickname," he said solidly.

"Go for it Greenie," I said, shrugging.

"Don't be so nonchalant, Love. You know you want to know what I'll call you," he said, pausing to try out the nickname.

I rolled my eyes. "Whatever Greenie. I'll
See you later."

"So long, Love," he called back.

I couldn't lie. I was smiling as I ran away.
