Genre: Urban Fantasy
Word Count Goals: Let's go with 11k for now nyooooom
Motivations: Paying homage to the Asian and Asian indigenous community and creating a sense of solidarity and camaraderie that extends to Pasifika and other ethnic groups, increasing representation, and finding answers to the existential dread experienced by young adults living under late-stage capitalism.
Fears/Concerns: The cultural research is a really daunting task and we're still debating on how to portray various religions, seeing as some are still being practiced today, and we're torn on how much we should fictionalize vs. remain faithful to the information we can find. A lot of stuff in our drafts might change in the long term based on input from sensitivity readers etc., and there may be inaccuracies (brief disclaimer not to use our drafts as a reference point for portrayals of cultures besides our own aaaaaaaa). Also, we've made the whack decision to work on the most ambitious idea we've ever had at a time when our writing is the Absolute Rustiest, so pray for us help.
Cool Extras: aza is bi-gender (think Jordan Li from Gen V) and maleko is a trans king ur welcome queers -levi
but also maleko straight af :( -ray
