"Do you think they'll be mad at me?" I whispered to Jay as Nya contacted Wu, Garmadon and Misako through the digital screen. Jay glanced at me.
"Yes. So very, very mad."
My shoulders sunk. Zane smacked the back of Jay's head, making him yelp.
"I was only joking!" defended Jay, rubbing the back of his head. He scowled at Zane. "Jeez."
Zane ignored Jay's glare and turned his blue eyes to me.
"Do not listen to Jay," Zane reassured. "I am sure they will be fine. It is not as if you were injured. We can keep you safe.
"Exactly..." I mumbled, still very unsure.
"Where is Y/n?" came Misako's voice from the speakers. Her tone was steeled. I flinched.
"H- here," I stepped out from behind Kai. Misako's gaze slid to me.
"What were you thinking?" she said, not angry, but disappointed. I think that's far, far worse. "You could've died! And what were you five thinking? You know better than to take Y/n with you!"
"It was Kai's idea!" Cole diverted the blame. Kai sent him a betrayed look.
"Dude," he accused, dryly.
"I don't care who's idea it was," Misako shook her head. Garmadon appeared in the background, a frown etched on his face. "I'm disappointed in every one of you."
Ouch. Guilt.
We mumbled our apologies as the airship slid underwater. Misako's eyes narrowed in scrutiny.
"Where are you?" she asked. "What happened? Why are you in Ronin's airship?"
With a dramatic huff, Jay began to recount our rather adventurous tale...
Being so deep under the surface of the ocean was... frankly terrifying. Even with R.E.X's large spotlight, everything was just murky blacks, blues and greys with the occasional darting squid or fish. I even saw a shark, which made me shiver.
Nya, though, looked like she was in her element - pun intended. She gazed out at the depths with a look of wonder and enchantment. Funnily enough, her brother looked like he was about to shit himself.
Mood.
"We're almost to the Tomb of the First Spinjitzu Master," Zane informed, making me inaudibly sigh with relief. Thank god. The sooner we got out of the water with Lloyd in tow, the better.
"Yeah," Cole said with a grin, despite him being surrounded by water. Nerves of steel... or rock. "I can't believe we're almost there after all we've been through."
Kai shivered as he watched a fish dart past the window.
"I can't believe I'm under water," he mumbled uncomfortably.
"You? What about me?" Cole asked, knocking on the window precariously. "Just how thick is this glass?"
Oh, god Cole, please don't do that you're making my anxiety levels maximise.
"We're heading to your location now," said Wu from the screen. The three elders were in the Bounty, en route to meet us at the Tomb. Or rather, above. "With Morro already ahead of you and able to foresee the traps protecting the Tomb with the Sword of Sanctuary, it's going to be up to you five to find the Realm Crystal before he does."
Garmadon spoke up from behind Wu.
"And I expect Y/n to stay in Ronin's airship."
No.
"Okay," I replied, glancing warily out of the window.
Jay nervously laughed.
"Cole's a ghost, Kai can't swim, Y/n's grounded, we have no magical sword or elemental powers. Apart from Nya," he grinned weakly. "What could go wrong?"
Kai elbowed Jay. He yelped.
Misako returned to the screen, looking stressed.
"I may not know the three tests you're about to face," she said as she held up an old parchment before unraveling it. "But I discovered a riddle that makes reference to it that may help.
'A Spinjitzu Master can
a Spinjitzu Master cannot
to move forward, don't look ahead
to find his resting spot.'"
Ah. Riddles. Love 'em.
"Huh," Cole mumbled from the pilot seat. "That's food for thought."
There was a rumble from afar. I froze.
"Speaking of food," Jay gulped as he shakily pointed out at the depths, where a faint outline of a very very large octopus advanced. "We're about to be some!"
"Nya!" I grabbed her arm. "Use your powers!"
"I can't!" she replied with a frantic shake of her head. "If I so much as lose concentration, the water could crush us! We're too deep."
"We have to go faster!" cried Kai, turning to Cole. "Much faster!"
Cole was already pressing R.E.X forward, making the ship accelerate. I was thrown back by the force, hitting against the back window. It gave me a good, wide view of the speedily approaching octopus. Oh god.
"Guys!" I went to warn them, but a sudden, long tentacle swung out as smashed into the side window. The glass shattered under its force and was about to cave in and drown us all if it hadn't been for Nya swiftly jumping in and keeping the water at bay.
"I thought you said it could crush-"
"I know what I said shut up and let me concentrate!"
I feel silent. Zane grabbed my shoulder in a reassuring manner.
"Why did the Tomb have to be underwater?" Kai whined, flinching away from the window. Cole pressed against the accelerator even harder.
"Hold on!" he announced as he made the airship do a sudden turn. The octopus, ever the determined, simply gave chase, pumping its long tentacles and easily keeping up the pace.
Jay began frantically searching around the interior of the ship, glancing fearfully at the predator as his fingers brushed over the unlabelled buttons and levers.
"What kind of weapons is this thing equipped with?" he asked, his voice pitched in fear. Another roar from the octopus made me squeak. Nya grunted under the strain of the ocean.
"We do not need weapons," Zane shook his head and pointed at a large reef formation. "Aim for that rock."
"On it," confirmed Cole as he swiftly changed course and guided the ship through a tight little archway. The octopus tried to follow by snaking its tentacles inside, but with a deafening, defiant roar, it found itself stuck.
I found myself finally able to breathe after we had gotten a safe distance away. We all gave a tired cheer.
"Atta boy, R.E.X, atta boy!" Jay patted the seat. Zane sent him an odd look.
"I'll never go swimming in the ocean again," I whispered hauntedly, gripping onto Kai's arm with all of my strength. I felt traumatised. The things I put myself through for Lloyd.
"Hear, hear," grumbled Kai in agreement. His eyes were still wide with adrenaline and fear. Poor guy. He didn't even notice my grip.
"There," Zane pointed to a second rock formation, this one much larger than the first. He wasn't as frazzled as the others, but what else would you expect from a Nindroid? Cole nodded as the ship glided through a large hole in the rock. We found ourselves in pitch darkness aside from R.E.X's spotlight, which did nothing but show us rock walls as we ascended to the surface.
The water broke over R.E.X's roof and Nya sighed, collapsing to her knees. Her forehead was beaded with sweat.
"That was difficult," she mumbled as Jay helped her to her feet. Once the door was opened, we all clambered out of the airship as the engine quietened, thankful to be on solid ground - even if we were still technically underwater. My knees trembled in shock.
"If you wanna hide a Tomb," Cole said as he glanced around at the interior of the underwater cave before approaching a large archway of rock. "This looks like a good place. We're here."
Jay groaned as he picked up a piece of ripped green fabric from a branch.
"There goes any hope Morro couldn't find this place," he muttered glumly, glancing down the entrance as we spotted a track of footprints. I frowned.
"Hey, stay positive," said Kai as we began down the track. "We're about to risk our lives going through traps we know nothing about, and all we have to rely on is each other. At least feel lucky we got this far."
Jay, ever the cynical joker, just sent him an unamused smile.
"Oh, I'm sorry. You're right. What was I thinking?" he began sarcastically, throwing his arms around dramatically. "Hey, there goes any hope Morro couldn't find the Tomb! We're not alone. Yay! Now we're gonna have to fight him again, sure we got our tails handed to us last time, but you never know in the future. 'Cause ninja never quit!"
Jay dropped his grin. "Better?" he asked sassily.
Nya gave a so/so gesture. I shrugged. Kai made a look like he was thinking, but he wasn't really.
"Eh, I'll take it."
"Look!" Zane caught our attention, pointing at a statue of a man in a rice hat that looked like he was mediating. Four lit candles flickered on his lap. I briefly wondered if the four candles represented the four Golden Weapons, or the four corners of Ninjago where they were hidden.
"The First Spinjitzu Master," Cole breathed in awe. "Creator of all Ninjago."
Suddenly it felt like I should pray or pay my respects or sacrifice Jay or something. Even the mere statue of the First Spinjitzu Master was deeply intimidating. This was a tomb. The Tomb. His tomb. And we were all - Morro and his goons included - trespassing on the most sacred of ground. It almost felt like a sin, so I bowed my head in apology and respect.
Isn't this guy Lloyd's grandad?
Oh fuck this guy is Lloyd's grandad.
"Destination: reached," came a robotic voice from R.E.X. "Auto-return: initiated."
"Auto-return?" Jay echoed in confusion. We glanced back just in time to watch R.E.X sink under the waves once more. "N- no! Bad, R.E.X, bad!"
I cried in alarm as we stumbled over to the edge of the rock, watching in despair as R.E.X disappeared.
"Our aeroblade weapons were in there!" Zane commented in a panic.
My hands smacked against my head.
"Well," I mumbled despondently. "There goes 'staying in the airship.' I have a feeling I really won't be in good terms with Lloyd's family when we get back."
Instead of reassuring me, the others just agreed and nodded as we stared at the rippling water. I frowned. Thanks for the moral support, guys.
"Not to mention our only way back," Kai grumbled in disbelief. Jay turned to him after sending a shit-eating grin at Nya.
"Hey, stay positive!" Jay said as he used a preppy, chirpy, sarcastic voice that really didn't match our predicament. "Who needs a way back when we gotta go that way!"
Kai sent him an unamused, narrowed glare. Nya snorted, having regained her energy.
"No Sword, no powers, no problem!" Kai claimed, trying hard to keep positive. It wasn't really working too well. "We can do this, guys, as long as we got each other, right?"
Cole tried his best to stay upbeat. He grinned, nodding.
"Brother sharpens brother."
I pursued my lips, squinting my eyes. Huh. Nya cleared her throat, glaring. Cole's grin dropped.
"I- I mean sibling sharpens sibling!" he scrambled to correct himself. Nya rolled her eyes in amusement as we started off down the track once more.
"Nice save," I forced a joke. It was obvious I was stressed beyond my limit, but he still humoured me by sheepishly smiling.
The rock walls were covered in tiny, glowing stones. It lit our way, thankfully providing no need for torches or scrambling in the dark. The dimly lit rock hallway came to an abrupt stop as a door opened up and we filed into a circular room.
We were in silent awe as we stared at the rock walls. There were sixteen different doors, each with a statue of a person holding a glowing cube. Above each door was a different symbol.
We jumped as the door we came through slammed shut. I gulped.
"This could be the first test," Cole commented as we warily gazed at the doors. But what were you supposed to do? How on earth were you supposed to solve it? Ugh, I hate problem solving.
"Why did it have to be tests?" Jay whined as his gaze slid over the symbols. He held a look of completed dumbfoundedness. "Why couldn't it be protected by dragons? We're good with dragons!"
Ignoring Jay's complaint, Kai glared at the symbols as thoughts ran through his head.
"I think we're supposed to pick a door," he mused. No shit, Sherlock. "But which one?"
"And what happens if we pick the wrong one?" I asked. We all glanced at Zane, who blinked in confusion at the sudden attention he was receiving. His expression dropped, unimpressed.
"I may be a nindroid, but that does not mean I know all the answers."
"What?" Jay exclaimed, looking utterly betrayed. "My life is a lie. Anyway, what was it Misako said?"
"'A Spinjitzu Master can
a Spinjitzu Master cannot
to move forward, don't look ahead
to find his resting spot," Zane answered. Jay sent an accusing finger in the nindroid's direction.
"You liar!" he spat mockingly. Nya sighed. Cole rolled his eyes. "You do know all the answers!"
Zane glared at Jay in exasperation.
"No, Jay," he said tiredly. "I just have a better memory than you."
"Can we move on?" Nya asked with raised eyebrows. Jay reluctantly nodded.
"Thank you," she said.
"A Spinjitzu Master can..." Kai echoed as he stared at a door with a curious look. He shook his head in disgruntlement as he turned back to us. "Can what?"
"Sixteen doors," Jay noted. "For... sixteen realms?"
"Could be," replied Cole unsurely as we all stared at the various different doors. "But let me guess, pick the wrong door and we'll be in a realm of hurt."
I hissed a breath through my teeth. That didn't sound so pleasant.
"Then we have to be right," Nya said determinedly. "But... we don't know."
Jay groaned.
"I wish we had the Sword right about now," he moaned, slouching his shoulders.
"We can figure this out," Kai insisted as we regrouped, no wiser than before. "A Spinjitzu Master can... can..."
Kai's wandering gaze set on a particular door. We followed his gaze.
"The symbol above this door," Jay said as he approached it. "It's a tornado. This could be the one, right?"
Kai hummed in thought. "You could be right."
That was apparently good enough for Jay, as he reached out for the handle.
"Jay- wait!" ordered Zane suddenly, making us flinch. Jay froze. "Step away from that door, Jay."
Jay immediately scrambled back towards us, his gaze fearful.
"W-what is it?"
"We're inside a Zoetrope," Zane announced. I perked up, glancing around.
"A zoe-what?" asked Kai incredulously.
"Oh! I know this!" I jumped in excitedly. "A Zoetrope is an old technique they used to use before film was invented. It uses a circular spinny-thing that produces a moving image of a sequence of drawings. Like a stone-age version of animation."
I was met with surprised stares. I sheepishly giggled, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear.
"I was first in Media Studies at my old school," I explained, slightly embarrassed. "I did a paper on Zoetropes."
"Huh," commented Nya, impressed.
"I still don't get it," Cole shook his head.
"A Spinjitzu Master can..." Kai mumbled in thought before his eyes lit up in realisation. "Do Spinjitzu!"
"Exactly!" Zane replied as he took a step back from us. He twisted on a leg, suddenly engulfed in a bright, white light as he spun, making the formation of a tiny tornado.
Whoa. Despite the nearing on two months that I'd known the Ninja, I'd never seen them do Spinjitzu. It's really something else.
"He's creating some sort of shape!" Zane called from within the tornado. The bright white tornado suddenly disappeared, his shoes scuffing on the stone flooring as he came to a stop. He pointed at a door with a symbol of what looked to be an empty yin-and-yang.
"That one," he commented, determined. "That's the door out."
Cole wasn't very convinced.
"I don't know, Zane," he said hesitantly. "Isn't that the door we came in? Are you sure?"
Zane sent Cole a look.
"Are you sure you want to doubt a nindroid?"
"YOU JUST SAID-"
Nya shut Jay up by shoving his hood over his head. His yelp was muffled. We shared an amused look.
"Open the door," said Kai as he approached it. "Let's find out."
Nya grabbed the handle and yanked it open. The stone, despite being, well, stone, easily slid open, revealing an entirely different room.
We gasped in surprise. Cole was in confuddles.
"But that wasn't here before!" he claimed. "How can it be the way if that's the way we came in?"
"Well, welcome to the Tomb of the First Spinjitzu Master."
We filed in. I gave Cole a shrug as I passed him.
"I've stopped trying to wrap my head around things," I confessed with a small smile. "Helps lessens the amount of existential crises."
The next room was a large cavern, the walls made of rock pillars of roughly the same shape. It briefly reminded me of the Giant's Causeway up North. At the other end was a golden staff hoisted on a stand.
"Ha-hey, nice one, Zane!" Jay complimented as we stopped just inside the room. "Who needs a Sword of Sanctuary when you've got a nindroid?"
That was when Kai spotted the golden staff. His jaw dropped.
"The staff of the First Spinjitzu Master," he said in awe as he began walking towards it.
"Wait!" Cole said, making Kai glance back in question. "This is the second test, remember? Zane, what do you think?"
Zane stared thoughtfully around the cavern. He turned back to us with a guilty frown.
"I can see no pattern," he confessed with a shake of his head. "For this riddle room, I'm at a loss."
Oh perfect. That's reassuring.
"Think about it," Jay said, holding his hands up in a suggestion as I gazed around the cavern. "The first test was a Spinjitzu Master can. So this one's a Spinjitzu Master cannot. Though, saying it out loud - I don't like the sound of that!"
I stared at the ceiling of the cavern scrutinisingly. It seemed to be cracked far too perfect to be considered natural. Just as I was about to say something, there was a sudden, deafening creak.
"Uh-oh," said Kai.
My head whipped over to him. One of his feet was resting on a marginally lowered stone and it soon hit me that it was a trap. Uh-oh indeed!
"Y/n, watch out!"
I didn't even see the stone spikes being shot at us. I made a sound of terror as one embedded right beside my head. Thankfully, it was only a short wave.
"Kai, what the hell!" exclaimed Nya. There was a stone spike poking through his stomach as he stood again the wall. I don't think he even realised it was there.
"Everyone okay?" asked Cole as we regained our composure.
"That was a close one," commented Zane as he grabbed a spike and inspected the sharp tip. He grimaced.
"Every step," Jay whimpered as he glanced at a stone that was dropped in between Kai's legs. I winced. Ouch. "A trap."
"How does one reach the staff if it becomes more difficult with every step to get there?" asked Zane. I frowned at the ground, suddenly aware of the different stones in the flooring. They could each hold a deadly trap more life threatening and accurate than the last. I want to go back to the zoetrope. "If I am correct, this riddle room poses quite the conundrum."
"So if a Spinjitzu Master can't do it, how are we supposed to reach the staff?" Cole asked.
They turned their gazes to me.
"What," I said, not asking, as I was too taken aback and suddenly petrified. "I- I can't? Please don't make me? I'll most likely perish and like hell I'll die before I get to kick Morro up the ass."
Kai shook his head.
"No, that's not it."
"Oh, thank god," I sighed in relief.
"Then how?" repeated Cole. Kai smirked.
"Watch and learn."
And then, c h a o s.
Kai used Airjitzu to fly across the ground. He fell just short of the staff, latching onto a rock. I was going to cheer for him, but then suddenly spikes on the walls appeared and Kai made a strangled gasp.
"Uh-oh!"
God dammit, Kai.
He leapt back just as the spikes were launched, narrowly missing them. Unfortunately, he landed on another trap, and then another, and then another and then another and then another and-
The floor started to give way, making us leap to the other side and activate even more traps. Everything we did just made the cavern turn even more chaotic and life-threatening. A fissure appeared in the wall, making a stream of water come sprouting out and almost hitting Cole.
"I can make it!" Kai said.
No, Kai, you can't, you fool!
Stalactites fell from the ceiling. I barely brushed past one. I shrieked. Kai landed on a large stone.
"Can everybody just stop moving?!" Jay exclaimed, making everyone pause where they were and stare at him. He started in disbelief.
"Oh," he said lamely. "That actually worked. Huh."
"I can make it!" Kai repeated adamantly. "It's a hop, skip and a jump!"
He launched off of his singular rock pillar and tried to fly over the large drop the giving way of the floor created. His Airjitzu faltered, making him land on the traps once more and forcing him to scramble back to his pillar as the stones fell.
"But what else comes with a hop, skip and a jump?" asked Cole. "You trigger one more trap, I don't know how much more we can take!"
Jay was glaring at his surroundings. He looked like he felt cheated.
"The clue clearly said this is a test a Spinjitzu Master cannot do," he said calmly, before screaming; "SO WHY ARE WE NOT LISTENING TO THE CLUE?!"
Nya rested a hand on his shoulder. They had ended up on the same pillar. I shared one with Zane, heart thundering as I stared down into the seemingly bottomless pit. One misstep and we'd be toast.
"Trust me," insisted Kai. "I can make it!"
"Wait-," Cole said, before furrowing his brow and glaring down at the darkness. "What if it's a trick? What if the reason we can't do it, is because we were never meant to reach the staff? What is the first rule of being a ninja?"
"A ninja never quits," replied Zane.
"Exactly!" replied Cole. I frowned. What? "And that's why we can't do it. Because a ninja would never give up!"
"What are you trying to say?" barked Kai. "We just quit? Are you insane?!"
Cole ignored Kai's jab and stepped up to the edge of his pillar. He glanced down at it with a reluctant frown.
"This time, trust me," he said before leaping off of his pillar and dropping down into the pit. I smacked my mouth with my hand as he jumped, making me almost scream.
"What the f-"
There was a sudden whoop from the darkness, followed by an overjoyed laugh.
"C'mon down and enjoy the ride!" his voice echoed up. Zane perked up.
"He is alive!" he said before jumping, too.
"He's a ghost," I stressed as Jay jumped, too. "Oh my god we're all going to die."
Nya sent me a reassuring look.
"You can do it, Y/n."
I stared dubiously down into the depths. My stomach twisted.
"I- I really can't," I cried, shaking my head. "I'm not- I can't-"
"Look," Nya said seriously, making me look at her. "Lloyd's down there. He's waiting for you."
Actually I'm pretty sure he told me to stay away from him until he kicked Morro out.
Oh wow, everybody in Lloyd's family is going to be disappointed. Including Lloyd.
Fuck.
I didn't voice my thoughts to Nya, certain that she'd probably tackle me down. I gulped as I stepped up and glared at the blackness.
"I'm an idiot," I mumbled to myself as I clenched my eyes shut. "A stupid, lovesick idiot. This is so stupid. So, so stupid."
I stepped off of the pillar.
At first, I accepted death as it came.
Then I landed on a fucking ice slide and decided that I hated the world.
"You're kidding me," I seethed as my body span around on the cold surface, picking up speed. "I risked my life seventeen times in that cavern for a slide?"
"Kind of changes your perspective in life," Nya shrugged as she appeared beside me. She grabbed my shoulder to stop me from spinning. I gasped her a thanks.
Ice slides hurt. We crashed, we smashed and we spat curses. But it got us where we needed to go.
We landed in a disgruntled pile in a third cavern, much larger than the last. It was completely made of ice. Zane should be in his element - except that that pun was just disappointing because he didn't actually have his powers at that point. We disentangled ourselves, groaning at our various knocks or bruises as we stood. I hissed as I rubbed my forehead, certain there was a bruise forming from where I involuntarily head-butted the slide wall.
"Is everyone okay?" Zane grunted as he stood. We mumbled mediocre replies.
"What did we get ourselves into?" Kai asked in awe as he gazed around the cavern. I followed his line of vision and found that there were walls of ice jutting out randomly with dangerous looking icicles.
Jay leapt up a wall of snow and looked out. He grinned.
"It's a maze!" he announced cheerfully. "I'm great at mazes!"
My heart sunk as I walked around the small area we landed in, trying to get rid of a kink in my thigh that was caused by the slide. It's a maze. This'll take forever.
The walls of the maze held hazy reflections. I didn't pay it any mind until Kai gasped in surprise. I glanced over at him as he held a hand to the ice.
"Whoa," he breathed, his eyes wide. "If my reflection means anything, I'm starting to think we won't be breaking out of this maze anytime at all."
My heart sunk even lower as Kai said that.
"Is that- me?" Zane asked himself as he stared at his reflection. "I look older, but my attire is... different. I do not believe these reflections reveal our inability to escape, but a mere glimpse of our future selves."
"Misako said to move forward, don't look ahead. Is that what it means?" Cole asked as he approached his reflection. His shoulders dropped. "Wait a minute, why is it that I can't see my reflection? Where is my reflection!"
"It's probably because you're a ghost," Kai suggested. Zane shook his head.
"Ghosts cast reflections, Kai," he corrected. "He is probably just looking in the wrong place."
Cole approached Kai and Zane. No go.
"I am looking at the same place you are," he seethed.
"Hey guys!" Jay called, grinning dorkily. "Guess what? I get an awesome eyepatch!"
Curious, I turned my gaze to my reflection.
And I lost my breath.
It was me, obviously, looking a few years older. I was wearing a type of kimono that Nya wears when she's not kicking somebody's butt, but in a dark green and gold designs. But that wasn't what made me shocked.
It was the fact that Lloyd in Sensei robes had appeared behind my reflection. And on our fingers were-
"Oh, my god," I breathed, holding a hand to my mouth. Rings. Marriage rings.
We were going to get married.
"Holy shit," I mumbled.
This was- surprising. I couldn't wrap my head around it for a few minutes, so I just ended up staring at a stubbled Lloyd. He was smiling warmly back, his emerald eyes ever the mischievous and wise.
But that means that everything will turn out okay, right? I thought to myself as I placed a hand on the ice wall. We'll get Lloyd back.
In all honesty, I never expected myself to get married. I never really wanted to, either. But after seeing Lloyd and I, happy, with rings on our fingers, it was as if my opinion on marriage did a whole 180°. There was a bubbling of anticipation in my stomach. I couldn't wait.
But before that, we'd have to actually become official. And before that, we need to find him.
I tore my gaze from my reflection only to catch Jay and Nya softly smiling at each other, flustered. Cute.
"Wait a minute..." Cole said as he peered at the ice wall. "I think I see me..."
He suddenly leapt back.
"It's Morro!" he cried in alarm, making me glance up so fast I got dizzy. "He's in the maze, too!"
The ice wall suddenly shattered as a body cams barreling through it, holding the Sword of Sanctuary in his grasp. Cole fell back. A large chunk of ice hit my arm. I flung back by the force, spitting a curse in pain.
Jay was cornered.
"All you ninja do is talk!" Morro spat venomously as he held the tip of the Sword to Jay's throat. He whimpered, staring at the Sword with a wide gaze. Everybody else was lost in the rubble. "Blah, blah, blah!" he said as he swung the Sword back. I grabbed a rock of ice. "I'll stop you from-"
The rock of ice hit Morro's arm. He stumbled in surprise, giving Jay time to leap out of the way.
"He's attacking an unarmed man!" Jay cried before darting around the corner frantically. I felt my limbs turn to lead. Thanks for the assistance, Jay.
I turned my gaze to Morro, who looked positively pissed. I gulped. Fuck.
He approached menacingly, holding the Sword poised and ready for the attack.
C'mon Lloyd, I know you're in there.
It didn't look like he was. Morro's too strong!
I was going to die. Great. Peachy. That's just fucking wonderful.
"You," he seethed, jerking the Sword dangerously close to me. I hit a boulder of ice, trapping me. I gnawed on my lip agitatedly. "Lloyd doesn't stop thinking of you. He doesn't give up because of you. But I wonder what happens if his inspiration is dead?"
Morro raised the Sword. In a split second decision I made the most stupidest, boldest moves I'd ever do.
