CHAPTER 21
The day has finally come. I woke up today with a pounding headache but all I was focused on was going through the plan in my head, I'm making sure everything is set the way it is supposed to be.
There is just one more thing left out that has to be done. The last thing before the world as they knew it will completely change like they changed mine. If anyone who has been given an assignment does the job well and if the smart people play their cards right then everything will go perfectly and smoothly. I'll finally put an end to this.
I also have to play my cards perfectly which is why I'm here on the bleachers screaming on top of my voice cheering my boyfriend with Pompoms I borrowed from Olivia. Every time my voice accelerates in cheer, I notice a look of pride on Ethan's face, disgust on Dawn's face as she cheered and disbelief on Alistair's face but I don't mind.
Ethan is playing well for the first half against Alistair's team as they have a 5-3 score going. The Scouts have been nodding their heads in approval at his skill. Even I am impressed and I almost feel sorry for him because I know what's coming ahead for him. But I have to say he's playing well for someone who this is going to be the last time he ever plays. He has it coming and there's nothing that can be stopped now because as the second half begins, I see Daniel's jersey number on the field and I remember there's no going back. It's too late to turn back now.
Seeing as the plan has been set into motion, I settle down in my seat as I watch the drama unfold. Otho is playing on Alistair's team, it's probably going to be easy for him to cause an accident I guess but I know that even if he doesn't have the determination and drive I have to ruin Ethan, he has the determination and drive to get his brother out of prison and I believe that that drive alone is good enough to make him not back out at the last minute.
I follow his every step once he's on the field. I'm waiting holding my breath for the moment he acts. Somehow I feel a sense of tension that everyone on the bleachers don't. He plays for a little while in peace enjoying being back on the field I guess and he even scores a goal.
After a few minutes, his eyes meet mine on the bleachers and I know it's time. I sit at the edge of my seat in anticipation, my hands gripping the edge of my seat as I fix my gaze intently at his moves.
The moment Ethan has the ball, Otho moves in towards him from the side running on full speed. At the last moment, almost close to getting the ball, he trips himself and crashes into Ethan who is just about to throw the ball into the basket making his legs a weak and easy spot. The crash is followed by a loud crack stilling everyone's breath in shock.
Ethan's loud scream from the excruciating pain that follows the crack pierces through the silence that filled the court. This thus begins the commotion of the night. Otho bends to help him in pretend as the paramedics rush over and all their teammates come heading in their direction in a rush. As this is happening, another loud piercing scream is heard from the corner where Olivia's cheer team is. My attention just like everyone else's turns in that direction just to see Olivia on the floor and her legs in awkward directions.
I shudder at the sight. That would seriously hurt. I sincerely do not want to know what happened. The level of Commotion increases at this. Oh well that's my cue, I'm needed somewhere else for this plan to be successfully complete.
I make sure to check on Otho and the scouts. Otho has successfully slipped away and the scouts are really disappointed. The fun is just about to begin. As I turn to leave, I notice Dawn watching me with a puzzled look and a look like she's trying to figure me out. I turn away from her gaze and step away from the bleachers to head to the broadcasting room.
Diego steps in front of me in an angry stance, "What are you up to Taylor Perez?"
"How?" I ask him looking clueless. What do you know Diego?
"Your boyfriend just got injured and you're heading in opposite direction of where he was taken!"
I smile in relief that he knows nothing and I'm about to shove him off when I realize his usefulness at the moment. I give him a big grin and crouch to his level which makes him take a weary step back giving me a raised eyebrow. Well I did expect that.
"Listen I need you to do me a favor." I tell him.
"No." He deadpans immediately.
"But you don't even know what it is." I defend looking around trying to make sure no one is watching us. Time is going and I need to be in the broadcasting room before anyone finds me here.
"And I don't want to. I don't do favors for family, they never pay up." He responds stubbornly.
I roll my eyes at his ridiculousness, "I will let you paint on my face every single morning."
"What do you want me to do?" He responds quickly making me crack up a little before I remember the task at hand.
"Now you go to the clinic in my stead and when Ethan begins to look for me, tell him I'm in the broadcasting room, okay?"
"Why are you going to the broadcasting room?" He questions.
"That's not your business. All you have to do is tell Ethan where I am and you can only tell Ethan. Do you understand?" I say softly making sure he gets what I'm saying.
"Yeah but..."
"No buts. Do you not want to paint on my face again?" I glare at him needing him to move his little pain in the ass body in the direction of the clinic fast.
"I'm going. I'm going geez!" He says giving me a pointed look.
"Good. Now go." I respond pushing him in the direction of the clinic, "Remember you are to tell only Ethan. Make sure no one else follows him. Stall them."
"Till when?"
"You'll know when. Now go."
"And remember to keep your promise." He says with an evil glint in his eyes. I just roll my eyes as he leaves. I head to the broadcasting room immediately after. As of now, Dawn and Alistair should have pieced all the puzzles together and they will probably be speaking to Ethan and Olivia since they are both in the clinic.
All that's left is Ethan coming to look for me to confront me and what better place to do that than in the broadcasting room? Once I get there, the place is empty like it should be. I remove the key from outside and put it inside. Ethan will probably need it when he wants to lock the door.
I go to settle down on a chair feeling a bit relaxed. Career-wise they are partly screwed. All that is left is the reputation. I close my eyes to think of all the different ways this whole situation can go.
I hear footsteps approach with a click off something like a walking stick a little while after. I open my eyes smiling, I guess he found a crutch to come here.
"Taylor!" he shouts out heading towards the room.
I turn on the microphone and once his face shows clearly by the glass door I turn it off.
"Testing microphone. Hello. Hello guys." I say into the microphone just as he enters the room and uses the key to lock the room like expected.
"Taylor." He whispers harshly glaring at me, "Put the damn microphone off."
Well so that worked out well, out of desperation he fails to realize that he's not hearing the echo of my voice and that the microphone is indeed turned off. Well good for you Ethan boy.
"Taylor." He warns through gritted teeth still glaring at me. Your wish is my command. I think as I turn it on or off as Ethan thinks.
"Ethan?" I say softly into the now turned on microphone like I'm just seeing him there. If anyone was looking for me before they know where I am now.
