1.     What do you think about the role of Vietnamese women in the society today?

Vietnam is a developing country. The economy is developing so the awareness of people is changing in a positive way. It cannot be denied that the role of Vietnamese women is changing in both family and society.

Gonging back to forty years ago, men were the only ones who could make decisions in the family. The women could not go to work or go out of the house. Their main duties were cooking and serving other family members. However, now everything has changed. The modern women can have a job after getting married. The house work is shared by the wife and her husband, including educating and taking care of their children.

Women are much appreciated today in social activities. They are no longer considered as “a pass of Adam’s” with less intelligence or capacity. Now women can hold important positions in society like leaders to manage a big company a group or a ministry, and they even act as president in their countries. They also play the role as a membership many research and development program contributing to our society. At important meeting and conferences which give prominence to the ability of negotiation women are gentle – mannered but strong – minded person to make decisions.

In general, the women nowadays play an important role in our society. They not only try their best to be good wives, but also are ambitious and responsible people. They deserve more cares for their roles to be changed and improved gradually for the better world.

2.     Many people believe that as computer crimes are increasing, it is safer not to use the computer.

The computer is one of the most important inventions in the 20th century which has changed our lives since it was first introduced. Many people believe that as computer crimes are increasing it is safer not to use the computer. But I think it is not good idea. Because of some reasons.

Nowadays, the computer is a good entertaining place where people can play games, watch movies and listen to music… when they have a stress in study or working. For instance, you can watch your favorite TV show on Youtube.com with just once click, or have some fun with the computer games. It is impossible to imagine our live without computer.

Besides, computers connect all people all around the world, everybody can make new friend or keep in contact with their old friend who is studying same class in high school or living far away. For example, they can use social website such as Facebook or Skype to video chat or playing same game together. In other hands, computer can also help us in education of children. There is much education software that helps children practice and develops their own skills. Children can find plenty of information for their major program easily and they can come to libraries to access the computer doing their homework and help them to learn many new things. Moreover, computer is very beneficial for work. A computer enables us to collect and process information as well as store databases systematically. Even better, thanks to search engines, we can find whatever information we need immediately. And with the introduction of office applications, namely Word, Excel and Power point, creating and editing a file is very convenient and then with just a click we may share it together.

So, although computer crimes are increasing but we have numerous ways to protect our computer, including utilizing security – aware design techniques, building on secure operating systems and installing hardware devices designed to protect the computer systems.

In conclusion, although computer crimes are increasing but computer is also very important in our life. We have to have a good method to protect our computers.  

3.     Many people think that some kinds of gambling is harmless, some think all kinds of gambling are harmful. What is your opinion? Give the reasons.

The society is developing, people have more chance to work, earn more money, but, besides, the people have more stress too. They often find to activities entertainment such as: games, gambling… Many people think that some kinds of gambling is harmless, some think all kinds of gambling are harmful. And I agree with all kinds of gambling are harmful.

Gambling means taking part in any activity or game when you risk money or a valuable object in order to win money or other stuff. Some people think that some kinds of gambling is harmless, because it can help they reduce stress in work, study… But I think it can cause some ones to lose interest in other activities. When people skip school or miss work in order to gamble it affects their chance of having a good job or career. Gambling can also affect personality, causing mood swings and problems in some ones social life and personal relationships.

Moreover, excessive gambling can cost you a lot of money. Gambler may experience “hot’ streaks” from time to time where they win. But the odds will always be against them, and they usually end up down. People with severe gambling addiction can gamble away everything they have and even resort to stealing money to fuel their gambling habits.

Besides, gambling can even affect a person’s health, causing sleeping problem, anxiety, stress…

Since gambling is almost always against the law for minors and because gambler can be driven to crime to fund their addictions, teen gamblers can develop serious legal problems.

In general, all kinds of gambling are harmful for people and our life. Each person and society should have good awareness about gambling and have good solution to protect yourself from gambling.

4.     Increasing the price of petrol is the best way to solve growing traffic and pollution problem.

Today pollution and traffic congestion are two of the mains problems which affect cities and their citizens. Not only they involve metropolitan centre in some serious problems, but also pose a threat to smaller towns. Therefore, both national and local governments have been introducing different policies to tackle those growing troubles. Some people claim the most effective solution is raising the price of the best solution available, but help to reduce pollution and traffic.

First of all, extra costs will definitely discourage people to use cars, thus urge them to resort to other means of transport. For example, people could use buses, bikes even walking in order to circulate. This means that they reduce their expenses, as well as the city pollution and traffic to a great extend and also improve their health.

Although, increasing the price of petrol would be one of the most effective solutions, it presents several drawbacks. In fact it leads people to use less their cars, and, therefore, saves more money. But many people cannot avoid driving to reach their work places. And they should endure rising fuel price. It becomes even worse for other groups whose their jobs are delivery and goods transportation. No wonder those group who their life are adversely affected by this is a vicious cycle as affecting the rest of people’s daily routine.

Last but not least, increasing the price of petrol cannot be the only answer to pollution problem. Instead governments should take some steps in this case. For instance, cheaper tickets for public means of transportation. Moreover, bikes can be free at the citizen’s disposal which means the citizens will gradually using alternative means to get transported. Furthermore, car- pooling is another measure. Only, one car can be used when we want to circulate if a lot of people go to the same destination. What is more, wider streets and more traffic lights will result in reducing traffic jams.

In conclusion, these are some measures which will give an effective solution to the aforementioned problems. If we apply the above in combination with changing our mentality, we will live in a better place, away from polluting traffic jams.

5.     Many people say that: Education qualifications decide one’s social status.

Nowadays, our countries are developing, the problem of educational qualification is very important for each person. We can see that the remarkable influences of educational qualification. Some people say that educational qualifications decide one’s social status. In my opinion, I do not agree with this idea. Because of some reasons.

Firstly, educational qualifications are purely a standard to evaluate the period of gathering knowledge and they do not evaluate exactly your ability. Nowadays, if you want to have a good educational qualification, it has many ways to resolve this problem such as: buying a level advanced degree, or using money to have a good result at your school. Besides, if you have a good educational qualification and find out a job for yourself but the fact that your knowledge do not exist so you do not have the social status.

Secondly, in order to have social status, it is similar to have a good position in your job or in your society so. The educational qualification is purely apart. Besides, not only have knowledge, but also have skills experiences, relationships, and other characteristics such as judiciousness, keenness, etc…You can see that nowadays, having many famous people in the world that have a high social status such as: Bill Gate, Jk Rowling… In fact, they do not have high qualification. But they proved that educational qualification is not completely decide the social status.

In conclusion, education is more and more important in the society. So people should have a good awareness of studying in order to have a good option in the future. And the fact that, having more option, many ways that help us success in our life.

6.     In many countries children are engaged in some kind of paid work. Some people regard this as completely wrong, while others consider it a valuable work experience, which is important for learning and taking responsibility. What is your opinion?

Whether paid work is beneficial or harmful for a child is a controversial topic. Some people are convinced working can aid a child’s development, while others want to ban any kind of child labor. A child’s focus should undoubtedly be on its education, but, I am convinced that some work experience can help teenagers in growing up and making better career choice.

On the one hand, taking a job can influence a child’s health, development and academic performance negatively. Every effort must be made to avoid exploitation of children. Most physically exhausting work, and working at night or in dangerous places pose a threat to children’s and teenager’s health and these are forbidden by law in most countries. Moreover, I believe it is crucial to ensure all children get an education instead of working full time at a young age, in order that they have a chance to find skilled employment later in life. It is worth considering that it can be challenging for students to work and perform well in school. Children working may find less time for their homework and social activities and may feel overwhelmed. Moreover, teenagers who are working may find working life more appealing than attending school and drop out of school altogether. Finally, the kinds of jobs usually held by children are low paid, unskilled jobs that do not provide much of a learning experience.

On the other hand, gaining some practical experience in a casual or summer job can improve a child’s self esteem sense of responsibility, motivation to study and may help them to discover their interest and talents outside the school’s curriculum. If students can find work in a field of their interest or tutor younger students it can be advantageous for their studies despite taking up some time. Additionally, working give children some practical life experience like teaching them the value of money. Children may be proud of their work and accompanying responsibilities, which will boost their self esteem and sense of independence from their parents. Lastly, realizing how much there is to learn to succeed in working life might motivate them to study harder.

All in all, I believe some work experience is advantageous for children and their education by giving them a window into work life. It remains to see if in the future increasing competition and study pressure will leave room for children to work while attending school.

7.     Some people think that students who don’t take a break in studies between the high school and the university are at disadvantage compared to students who travel and work after high school before further continuing their education. Do you agree or disagree?

Nowadays, in our competitive world, to succeed, knowledge from school and university is not enough. Therefore, students who study from the school to university get fewer benefits and contribute less too, compared to those students who travel or work and get experience and skill before going high. There are two following reasons to support for my opinion. I refer to the group of people who study from school to university- as “group A”, and the other group- as “group B”.

Firstly, at school and university, what group A gains is almost entirely theory, theory and theory. Of course, theory is very necessary; however, you cannot do everything with just theory. You must have practical experience. This is what group A lack very much. Although in the third for forth year at university, group A can be apprentices in some companies, to help them approach their future jobs, they are not trained well because of the short time spent working. And the real job is still very strange to them. After graduating, without experience group A students cannot accomplish their work perfectly.

Secondly, as group A students are contributing less, they surely get less benefit. Moreover, many companies which employ people in group A have to train them from ground- up. These companies take this cost from group A’s salary to reduce the risk of their employees leaving to other companies after being trained. So, less benefit are unavoidable and certain where as group B members are more loyal and effective workers. They also have useful experience and skills. Besides, their education is the same as or even higher than that of group A. As a result, group B gets more benefit absolutely.

In conclusion, I think a student should travel or work before going to the university. That way, not only will they have basic knowledge but also skills and experience which are useful for them to get a good job and have a brilliant future.
