Chapter 64 - Mysteries

First things first, where the hell is Detective Jukebox? Getting to the bottom of this starts with him. How the hell does everyone know him? I can feel the puzzle pieces scattering in my brain, so far I have the players but what is the purpose of the game.

With careful discretion I kept to myself entering through the patio. All eyes on me and my every move before I awkwardly smiled to divert the attention from me, thankfully they smiled back proceeding to their work.

Didn't the bell ring? Where is everyone? Crap, did I just become the person showing up earlier than everyone.

The feel of fingers brushed on my arm; soft, warm, gentle and tiny. I looked down to her, The little woman with the tiny voice box. Hard to believe a sweet woman like her has worked for this family for eons and have not gone mad. I met them yesterday and secretly planned the colors of their coffins in my mind, she smiled at me hooking her arm into mine before saying something whispery - like.

"Huh? I'm sorry?"

She spoke again, softly. Very, very softly. By this point my ear canal was touching her lips.

"She says where would you like to sit?" A sudden thick masculine voice made my bones shake. There the butler was, standing in all white attire with black gloves, strands of his hair coifed gelled backwards.

"Oh, uh - I'm sorry I just couldn't hear her she speaks very low." The woman's demeanor changed, like a turtle hiding in it's shell the once calm and welcoming energy the woman displayed was gone, leaving behind a feel of discomfort and fear. The man clearly couldn't read the room, instead he wrapped his arm around her shoulder gently leading her away from me.

Regaining his standing, his chin rose high, arms at his side "I have told you before Ms.Jane, it is a work in progress."

The woman is above fifty and it is still a work in progress? "Uh, alright I just wanted to listen clearly since she doesn't speak loud enough."

"That is why we love her, why else would she talk loud?"

"So people could hear her?"

"If you Will excuse me Madam I must prep the garments" He dusts off his hands and adjusts his collar. "Enjoy" he smiles disappearing from my sight. I wonder what his coffin would look like?

On cue steps are heard descending down the staircase, in flesh and bone there was the man I searched for. Attire of all black with his mocha hair coiffed backwards. Noticing my eager expression he quickly nodded and looked away, not here Jane, duh. Just behind him came The elder woman herself, adjusting Jim's watch. By Looking at her I felt an overwhelming sensation, she isn't the same to me anymore. Whatever I held on to as simple elderly woman with a superiority complex but now that died, her eyes than found mine, brows softening at my glare, her words from earlier play back in my ears like a nagging fly.

Her face will forever be embedded in my heart for pure hatred. I looked at her once and thought sultry and smooth now it's gone. Disintegrated into ashes, only one word fits her perfectly.

Murderer. Cold blooded, murderer.

Jim stepped in between us blocking my view of her, A deep forest color in my vision but my eyes were distant locked beyond. "I love the natural hair look, little clover." He tried to reach and touch it but quickly retracted his hands knowing better. The sight of his middle button struggling to keep his clothes together became apparent from the blur.

I blink away to look at the forest green attire, Like a Leprechaun Jim wore an all green suit with a sweater vest, hair brushed neatly backwards with a trimmed beard. The only contrast to the suffocating colors was the white dress shirt underneath.

"Jim? Those colors are - "

"Protection Aye? This here be me lucky suit lass, plenty of good luck than bad when I had this one aye?" He winked signaling his eyes towards the woman hidden from sight.

If Only you knew Jim, my shoulders slouched, exhaling deeply. Let Him be happy for now until she is behind bars where she belonged. "You Look stunning Jim, for a moment I thought it was Saint Patrick's Day" I exclaimed, he was ready to respond happily when his Arm was suddenly pulled.

"I'll speak to you after little clover." The elder woman made sure to keep herself hidden from view as they rounded to their seats. I couldn't pull my eyes away from her and she sensed it. Strange seating arrangements, it was only going to be a few of us but we were all scattered, some missing faces, where is ever -

I swallowed my words when a whiff traveled through my nasal streams.

Coconut and a fresh aftershave, heavenly mix of a Caribbean and modern essence. Greedily I inhaled deeply to the aroma around me wanting to savor every scent that envelops me in its sweet confinement, I surprised myself for nearly pooling to the ground for something other than food. Was that coming from the kitchen? was it my brain screaming for the meal I was craving earlier? nothing appeared to direct me to the source other than that of the elder woman glancing at something behind me.

With just a slight turn of my head my jaw almost tore to the ground, a mouth watering masterpiece of the man before me. Dressed in an Ultramarine Blue suit Rowan stood before me, a silver necklace shimmer whilst laying flatly around his throat down to his chest, top three buttons of his suit jacket undone displaying partial of his bare chest. Masculine sternum with hard pecs, his hard body close to mine, the weight of his dark orbs penetrate my body holding me still before him. Golden locs brushed backwards curling at the end tips.

I'm not drooling you are.

Finding words to say was futile, my mouth couldn't fathom any but my pussy had a lot she wanted to say, I feel the painful lick in between my legs nearly growling to have this man right here on the table.

"Rowan? where did you go? you didn't wait for me - " down she came, -- the nuisance of a creature -- before pausing to look at us. With the clear of her throat she doesn't acknowledge me. "Baby" she spoke to the Jungle man who didn't acknowledge her in return or even glance down. "You didn't wait for me?" she coos onto him, pressing her flat chest onto his bicep. His masculine viking physique made her look like a toy, if she truly knew how dangerous he is in bed or the strength he posses she would fear him. One of the obvious things that prove she is lying.

But he hasn't found a way to deny it to me.

Though his eyes are deep and intimidating I refused to lower my head towards him any more, -- I just shed a bunch of tears to him, -- I straighten my head to look him into the eyes, accepting his challenge. A ghost of a smirk on his face before he took a deep breath.

"If you would all take your set young masters." The booming tone of the butler almost shook the house.

Like a child, the girl nearly tugged him. "Ohh, come on Rowan this way" Yet his strength was unmatched, not even a budge. Casting his glare onto me and I too him.

The adrenaline coursing through my veins had my knees weak. I can feel my pussy watering, the strong stance was starting to wear off, I still had to get to the bottom of everything, ending the moment I purposely adjust my breasts towards him smirking at the darkness that swallowed his hues before strutting away, my expression immediately changed once I fully turn around like jello my legs wobbled the whole time as my intestines fell to my anus.

Holy ... (sees cross) Harry Potter. My mind spiraling, I just did that, I just held my own against the Jungle man. Something I didn't think my pussy would live to tell the tale, it's better to keep it up so he doesn't sense something amiss with me. I found my seat next to the detective right in front of Rowan.

Because, of course.

The dark look Rowan casted at me being next to the detective made me gulp.

"Once again the masters and I welcome you to the home of the late Makarov Muller." The butler spoke at the front end of the Mahogany table in between two

Who the heck is Makarov? a compelling chill down my spine as something told me to look at h wall above us at the end of the table, a grande portrait of the ery owner himself. Goosebumps coat my skin looking at the stoicism of the late elder man, how did I not see this coming in? those eyes look like they are on me, all seeing. I just had to ask.

"This dinner was carefully brought up in mind and I am pleased to have made your acquaintance."

Careful? if by giving people no other choice was their definition than by all means.

The butler nods at everyone, "Now please rise, as I introduce to you the Masters of the home." He started off the applause before everyone slowly joined in, including the staff. Out they stepped together from behind the kitchen, stupid grand entrance. Fingers interlocked together as they walked side by side, the sight of Christine made me sick to my stomach, heat surging through my veins.

Control your expressions Jane, control your expressions. Never thought it was difficult to command your own body what and what not to do, I can't even force a smile without my muscles twitching.,

In an all white suit with a black bow tie Seth rounds to his seat after kissing Christine on the back of the hand, "Thank you, everyone." He says, there was soft tone in his voice.

"Thank you all for joining us." He continues on to speak occasionally trying to glance around as much as possible but his eyes kept finding Rowan.

"My grandfather once sat here in this very chair, the man above you right there." he waved his palm towards the creepy picture, but I don't even want to look back at it again.

"And now here I am A whole generation later with my wife and" ... his voice trailed away gazing at Rowan, "son ... until another generation comes." Everyone turning to look at Rowan in curiosity, I can't believe they don't see it, I was blind too but the obvious is right there, but then again everyone is always a step ahead of me and I am the only one left behind.

Christine ended up clapping everyone out of the gaze. Face crismon from the anger she is with holding. "My husband and I are pleased to make your acquaintance, let us all dine." her eyes twitched when she met Rowan's but his gaze was more sinister and she looked away.

The dinner started off calmly, however I couldn't help but think there was something missing.

Where was Cameron?

"You look appetizing Corazon." I almost choked at the deep voice next to me, turning to the glowing look in his lustful eyes made me swallow.

"I - ".  I froze realizing Rowan's eyes were on me, but Seth's were on him. I already have the answers I need but I still need to make it as believable as possible to survive this night.

Hmm, let's make this interesting.

Scooting in my chair closer to the detective I smiled brightly, seductively touching his thigh. "Thank you." I whispered into his ears.

He growled lowly in return.

"Using me to get your boyfriend jealous? I love it." he whispered back spreading his legs further, an intimidating bulge In his crotch.

Shoot but now I felt bad, he knew too quick.

"No, Seth is looking. We need to pretend we are a couple."

"Mmm" he growled unconvincingly, before placing his hand in top of mine, "then let me take the reigns." He whispered in my ear. Large Calloused hand guided mine, the feel of the soft fabric of his trousers had my heart beating wildly.

Nearing the outline I panicked and pulled away.

The low of his chuckle sent chills down my spine, "Never start something you can't finish."

I gulped, Afraid To look up. I couldn't go threw with it now, I'm really fucked.

"So Jim, I hear your a big manager" Christine spoke cutting The thick air of silence.

"Aye, I wouldn't say big me lady "

"Surely you're Someone who has reached a large goal, I know quite few selective of people that still struggle and cling on to lies, like leeches."

The elder woman awkwardly takes a sip of her water.

"Thank you me lady, this is something I have worked hard for in life."

"And you reached it on your own, we could use people with your dedication  on our team."

No way is she trying to recruit him for a job, In This moment? No, there is something else in the play. A trap is setting in motion.

"That Is truly an honor madam"

She smiles triumphantly.

"However I do must decline. I am not of the age to start at the bottom, but I do have recommendations."

Christine furrows her brows, not expecting him to decline so freely at a grand opportunity working for billionaires. Recommendations? Seth's eyes finally pull away from Rowan as a suspense build within the paused time frame. Jim glanced at Rowan and we all follow suit, a sinister gleam in Christine's eyes once she met Rowan's.

"This lad here is destined to become a CEO of a company one day, IQ surpassing even that of the great Albert Einstein, well mannered and a gravitational pull to him like no other. As if he was made to dominate, a presence to be reckoned with, almost like it runs in his blood."

And ... That's my man, I cheesed in my mind. Wasn't expecting to have your own conversation rerouted did you Christine? Thought You could say anything and people used to normally bend to your will?

Too. Damn. Bad.

Imagine trying to triumph over your own enemy only for them too surpass you. For Majority of the night she remains quiet occasionally tapping Seth from his stare.

Seth couldn't eat, never did he glance at his plate, eyes only on one person and not his wife.

"Excuse me everyone. I - uh, I need to catch some air." Face Red with disheveled air before he smiles and walks away clearing his throat, the butler follows suit behind him leaving Christine.

A small giggle made me glance up, the albino Komodo dragon has her arms slithered around his bicep. Would it be hypocritical that I didn't like it? But Then again there I was about to touch another man's crotch. As much as i want to launch her out of the window, If things go the way Christine planned I will never see him again.

I stared at him too long, He finally looks up at me softly, catching my eyes on him and I blinked away, blinking out a few tears with it. "Uh - i'll be right back." I spoke softly to the Detective.

Catching my elbow, he rubs gently. "You alright?"

I fight back the tears and gave a small nod. Where was I running off to? I have no idea, I just couldn't swallow sitting there any longer. And now I am lost, entering the dark hallways of the home, uneasy and on edge, In the moment of my emotions I couldn't grab my phone. I don't know my way in or back, Facepalm.

My unfortunate soons turned hopeful seeing a light at the end of the hall, a glow dim light lit up up under a door. Anything to get me out of the darkness, carefully I creak the door open, knocking softly to alert anyone of my arrival or to make sure I am not walking in on anything.

Silence, and no response or presence of any kind, First to catch my eye was the lit fireplace bestowing a warmth against my skin, someone was here recently. I walked in closing the door behind me planting my back against the wall, breathing out heavily. My goodness I need a vacation when this is all over.

There was a lure in the room's decor, it resembles just like ike any ordinary room of the house but this one was more inviting. Everything looked, carefully thought together, like someone's personal type kind of room the dancing flames of the fire caught my eye as I walked in for a bit to peer around, A whole wall of wine and brown liquor, stuffed head of a deer on the wall with long antlers, a single chair in the middle. Something fuzzy prickles against my calves and I jumped. Brown fuzzy carpet, with the head of a bear?

Wait, Single chairs? Fire? heads of animals on the wall? I quickly turned my heels towards the door, hoping my my hunch isn't correct. Anything with those decorations are a clear sign I just stumbled ... --

"Ms Jane?"

-- Into a mancave.

My face is towards the door while I inhale deeply to calm my nerves, stay calm, stay calm, stay calm. "Sorry, I came in the wrong door, this place is huge." I try to laugh strutting quickly to the door.

"It looked like you were enjoying the view" he huffs, voice seemed close yet far. "Did you like the place?" there was a slur in his tone, was he drunk?

"It is beautiful, Mr.Seth. I'm going to go back to the -" my chest turned cold, the door was locked. I pull and twist, sealed.

Fuck.My.Life.

I winced hearing heavy footsteps as if he is stepping down somewhere. "You know, my grandfather wasn't a bad guy." he breathed before chuckling at the end. Having no other choice I turned. Down the stairs he descended hidden from view, I was puzzled how I didn't notice that, but the top floor of the space was dark with white railings.

"A lot of people give him a bad rep."

The stench of whiskey filled my nose once he made it to the bottom floor, making me dizzy, he wasn't even gone for more than two hours and he is drunk? maybe it's a bottled up emotion.

"I lived my life well making sure to always follow in his footprints." he chuckled, his bow tie ditched with all the buttons of his suit jacket undone. "I never pictured what my life would look like without following his footsteps?"

by this point I didn't know if he was speaking to me or himself.

At last he appeared in the middle, in between the chair and fire, the shadows of the fire dance around his body creating a creepy picture on the wall. I gulped trying to move away, remain as quiet as possible and maybe he will forget I am here?

If my life were a story I wonder how the readers would react?

He took another sip of the brown liquid sighing out the stink in his throat, "People think they know me, they think they have me all figured out." he chuckles breathly. "But the thing is ... they don't really" he shook his head lowly, The Orange flames dancing in his oculus as he stood staring into space.

For what felt like minutes he finally moved gulping the rest of liquid before leaning down the floor to pick up the glassed bottle, the liquid pours freely while cracking the ice, "So, Ms Jane?"

I clear my throat, "Yes?" I try to speak louder but my voice box refused.

"I don't think we ever finished our discussion yesterday?" Just my luck hoping he would be too drunk to remember.

Say little.

"There isn't much to say, we were enjoying dinner than -"

He shook his head clicking his tongue, "Mmmm, nothing of the sort, How did you enjoy sunday's service? and be honest with me." he leans on the arm of the chair, eyes intently on me while sipping his drink.

"I have told you before Mr. Seth, I have not been to church in a long time, so this one was interesting." My heart fell once he stood on his feet coming towards me. Desperate to keep the distance I move away slowly, a move he instantly caught onto and follows.

"Interesting for you to say, a few of our members stated after wards you had a bit of an episode with one of my elites."

With the memory of that day brought a sudden rage in me, "He made a sexist remark towards me in my time of crisis, surely you would understand." The distance between me and the door grew further and further until I ran out of room planting my back against the wall next to a large window.

Gulping at the rocky pavement underneath, "I - I should get back Mr. Seth."

"You know my brother is actually quite respected in his works, he recently just had a whole community closed and evicted for a better one." I furrow my brows in question.

"Oh, just this little food truck. Nothing Major. That's the best part when you are someone in power, we don't need to ask we can just take." he shrugged closing his distance, strong whiskey fanning my face. "And the best part is, who will stop us."

As serious as he was trying to be standing above me with a dark gleam I couldn't help but huff a smile. I see, of course that is how it is, the little giggle I had soon turned into a laugh with a snort at the end. "I apologize, I didn't mean to laugh ... to hysterically It's just now I see it. You have endless zero's in your accounts so of course it's easy to wake up and take the crown that only you guys fight for ... and it is usually amongst yourselves. You guys call the poor or middle class pigs when it is the rich that needs us to stay relevant. So who really is in power?"

"I remembered the community I grew up in, Every mother and father waking up in the early crack of dawn to get ready for work just to feed their families or make sure the light or utility bill is on to keep things afloat, no one had much but we were happy and in fact had cookouts of all sorts, have you ever been to an Indian party? an Asian party? or how about when Latinos Hispanics, African or Caribbean parties join forces? It is unworldly, unmatched there is no event like it, never ending joy and smiles is all there is.

His eyes turned dark.

"Yet here you are, rich, fancy house, luxury antiques with staff at your every command, and your in here alone, drunk and bitter. Bragging about your brother shutting down small things to make new ones when he feels like it. Where is your wife? oh, downstairs alone. Just a simple word of advice to you don't push it. I may not look like it ... but trust me I wouldn't make me your enemy."

Holy shit, wait ... oh, no crosses in the room, Good. Shit, Shit, Shit!

A silence fell through before he clenched his fists suppressing the real storm. When the sound of someone clearing their throat makes us whip our heads back.
