Chapter 54- Have we met?

My neck cranes upwards to look at him, creamy complexion glistens from the sweat of his work out while a thick steam follows him, if I had glasses, I would have tried to wipe them. Blue orbs locked on me as he smiled gently, "Apologies, we have met before, at my church, correct?" Voice, smooth and deep, while he stretched his muscular veined arm to me.

Yes, we indeed have met at the church, but never did I think he looked at me, than the scene played in my mind of my mother pointing me out, the nursing home she goes. "Yes, uh at the church." I smile extending mine. Large man hands swallow my tiny paws, I felt my brain rattle from his handshake, brief and firm, he turned his attention to Tanika, extending his hands to hers, I don't remember if she shook his hand or not, my vision blurred and so did the sound while I studied his features. His aura was rich, very handsome. But there was something familiar about him, my eyes trailed down until I caught sight of a large print nearly brushing his knees.

Okay eyes back up. Let's not Ogle over Cameron's father.

"I never had the chance of speaking with you, to welcome you into the church, normally my wife and I invite new members to dinner, but we did not get a chance to meet you last time." I could drown in his voice, blue orbs so intent.

"That's very nice of you, but I -"

"Please do not tell me you will reject my offer; I will be hurt." he cocks his head to the side, it's like he was hiding a smirk.

Hurt, that is something I wish I could inflict on his son, but rejecting his father would still hit the spot, anything to stay away from these people. Especially since I will be seeing them in court soon. "I - uh - I don't know what to say." For reassurance I turn to Tanika who hasn't said anything yet. Hopefully she has an answer, however she was studying him to.

So, we can both agree that there is something familiar about this man?

"How about you say yes to meeting me and my wife at the Carbon on Thompson St? dinner is on me, and please bring your mother and friends." he smiles eyeing me and Tanika. Did detective Jackson 5 disappear or something? his presence was not even acknowledged. Face red while he emanates steam, the evidence of a heavy workout. This is new, was this kindness? since the beginning of my whole fiasco with his son it was strange seeing a new attitude. Has he been left out in the dark? or is Cameron holding back information? Though my attention was never on him in the first encounter I can't make a clear judgment, but I can tell there is a difference in attitude and approach.

One of them blends in, while the other lurks in the shadows.

I fight the urge to not rub my nape while Tanika and I exchange glances. "I guess it's - "

"Perfect, you just made me a very happy man." his smile was so wide I thought his eyes would disappear. Ivory white teeth displaying while he claps his hands together.

"Let's say tonight?"

"Tonight, oh I uh" My stuttering is really starting to irritate me. No wonder everyone takes advantage.

With his hands still clasped he slightly leans in curiously with a questionable gaze "I hope I am not troubling you of your plans later on?"

What the hell am I doing later on? nothing I ain't got no life, my gosh I need to pick up a hobby "I'm not busy but my friend -" I don't get to finish my sentence before his eyes were already locked on Tanika's. For the first time I could see her stance slightly falter before she regains herself.

"Any friend of yours is a friend of mine's, please let me treat you lovely ladies to dinner, I would love to get to know more about my son's friends." my blood ran cold when he turned his head back to me, I didn't like how his voice lowered. I swear his eyes are turning darker, even with the blasting speakers of the gyms music I swore there was a silence.

"Troubling my women, I see. I thought I set the record." A chuckle behind me before a palm slithered on my hip, In protection. His deep voice with Spanish accent giving it away.

Cameron's father peers up slowly, even though his amusement expression plastered on his face there was a hint of anger in his eyes, annoyance at the individual behind me, but it hit me than. Everything Detective Jolly rancher had mentioned before, of his family's downfall and why. Has the two met already since then? surely, they have, otherwise why is he so calm?

Someone doing that to my family I'd turn into an assassin really quick. Mentally I cringe, assassin where? all I've been doing is stuttering and hiding ... Jane Shut up.

"Ah, why am I not surprised to see my number one fan at the same place and time that I am?" Cameron's father's voice was smooth, like a villain with a raging storm spiraling inside as he cocks a smile.

Discreetly I furrow my brows to the statement not trying to look up, same place and same time? Detective Jiggery - Pokery knew he'd be here?

"You just answered your own question, number one fan." he chuckles. "Unfortunately for you I am here with my women, but dinner does sound like a plan."

Muscles bulge with thick veins running down from his shoulders as he crossed them "Too bad you weren't invited; you should make use of where you are needed instead of intruding on my life and family." Voice dark, I could see the darkness swallowing the blue in his eyes. I swallow thickly. I was almost fooled, but then again when am I not?

This was the man that Cameron calls father, one of the masterminds behind the puppetry, surely, he knows of everything that is happening and has not yet made a move? something is off, if I don't choose wisely with my words - I shivered suddenly to the thought of what can happen if I do cross him. "Dinner would be nice, thank you. But I want my boyfriend there." I want to pass away.

Silence, conversations dropped. The rap music in the background slightly easing the awkward, Cameron's father cocks his head amusingly at me without a smile, studying to find anything that'll prove my hoax. Tanika's head whips to me from the corner of my eyes before she nodded it back, heat bares down on me from all angles of directions. "This is your boyfriend?" through the momentary silence Cameron's father's deep voice cuts the tension like a butter knife in thick bread, eyes glance between the three of us.

Hooking my arm around his waist feeling his muscled abdomen, "Yes, he is my boyfriend." my face can't decide to cringe or scream but forcing a smile was difficult, I have faked orgasms before but this one was a whole new challenge. A calloused palm rubs my back, circling his fingers until they fall loosely on my butt cheek, strong arm embraces my frame pushing my body further into his. "My whole world right into my arms."

Taken back by the statement I sensually look up to see his eyes already on me, face red while a genuine smile started to form, was he being genuine? even before he can fully let the smile emerge, I was already reciprocating, wrapping my arm tighter around his waist. Our eyes locked on one another while the moment of time seemed to have stopped.

.... Until the sound of someone clearing their throat scratched the record.

Our eyes land back on Cameron's father who seemed to be hiding a smirk, unconvinced but pushed no further, "Please excuse me, I would love to have you there" his voice went from dark to gentle in a fraction of a second, but his eye twitching said it all.

"Oh my, taking me out I, see? I knew you had a thing for me."

"Well, you know, feeding the poor is something I'm great at."

"Feeding the poor or taking from them?"

"How do you take from something that isn't there?"

"Your wealth is bult off of it, I'm sure you will figure that out."

It suddenly felt like they were on a whole different subject. The tension is thick with them, even as he crossed his arms, that familiar feeling lingered in my brain, my eyes trail to every detail while he engaged in a staring contest with the man behind me. Though he seems civilized, I can't let the outer image blind me. There are always two sides to a person, Cameron's family has successfully shown the media an image of them always donating and being the good guys of the world when truthfully His family has done awful things. They aren't meant to be trusted; I can't trust anyone from that family.

Stay Vigilant and think wisely of your next words.

"Did I miss anything interesting?" dark voice interrupts while the figure of a man emerges. My jaw parted slowly, Him. Images of him in that suit that day made steam blow out my ears. That slap wasn't enough, I should have connected my fists.

"Nah, I just invited these lovely people to dinner tonight."

His eyes trailed to each of us before landing on the detective's "You know, you need to pick up more hobbies man, what would your parent think?" he chuckled. I felt the detectives thumb jerk slightly on my back but made sure to keep his face the same. Unbothered.

My eye twitched from the statement. Monster, just monstrous, if he wasn't so corrupted and stuffed up in these people, he would see just how demonic that family truly is. Detective Justice league clears his throat, smile never fading. "Good question did you make sure to ask them that while deporting them?" he chuckles in response.

I felt like a sinking ship, What?

Slightly stepping forewords, the man was ready to speak when a rough palm was landed on his shoulder holding him back, "Enough, there will be plenty of time to speak on interesting affairs over dinner but for now the ladies need to rest up." the man pursued no further, to Tanika he glanced and then looked at me, lingering his gaze, eyes darkening as he seized me up and down before winking and smirking.

The back of my hand suddenly stung.

"You all have a good rest of your day; my assistant will be in touch with you about reservations."

"Uh - thank - thank you uh my number is - "

"No need, I have everything I need." he smiles. I can feel my heart in my ass.

Detective steps away slightly pushing Tanika and I to walk, hands on our hips while walks behind us. Though I cannot see them physically, I know they are watching our every move until we disappeared into the elevator.

The car ride quiet, not a peep uttered but the sounds of the wind brushing by and car screeching. Everyone needing time to process what just happened, I fight to not look at the man next to me, I winced each time the sound of his grip on the steering wheel became apparent. Under the red light we slowed down, through the rear-view mirror I caught Tanika's eyes. It's like we were asking the same questions.

"Did you know?" I finally broke the Ice. His No response was my response.

"You could have warned me, before I brought Tanika."

"I was not aware you were bringing company, but it was too late to back out of it." I noticed he never looked at me, his voice was stern and deep, like he planned it all to go exactly how it went. But why?

"I didn't know I'd be seeing Cameron's father; you could have let me kno-."

"Alright Jane, I go and tell you first thing that you would be meeting Cameron's father, would you have agreed?" he smirks while huffing, he didn't yell but I felt the storm brewing within his chest. But A good question, I most certainly would not have.

I don't say anything else, looking elsewhere to distract my thoughts.

"We need to go to this dinner Jane" comes Tanika's voice in the background, after moments of quiet she finally spoke. Cutting through the atmosphere.

"I am not backing down; I knew eventually he would be coming out into the light, but I just never anticipated when."

"Always keep your guard up, I told you this already."

"I never wanted this, Tanika." I blurt out catching everyone by Suprise. "I never wanted to have anything to do with these kinds of people that have scary connections around the world, sorry if my guard is never up, I never had to think about that in the first place."

"Jane, calm down. I never wanted my sister raped, I never cared for any of the hire ups until they messed with us first ok. Relax. I want nothing more than to have my sister back and rid of this nightmare but for now I am here, and I am here until the end with or without you."

Glancing towards the man next to me I catch glimpse of him smiling while he kept looking at the rearview mirror, at Tanika. "The both of you have had it worse, I know, but it'll end up horribly for me once this is all over."

Tanika leans in between the car seats "Horrible for who? I was on the dark web Jane; I know things about that family and Kevins family that will have my head slaughtered."

"Very Naughty" he laughs looking at her from behind his shoulder while comes to a red light.

"If anything, I should be worried if they ever track me down."

"I have seen all their wrongs firsthand Jane, and I am the one investigating them."

"No one technically knows who you are, you would have been found by now. As long as your friend keeps her mouth shut, you have nothing to worry about, but continue to write."

Reassuringly I nodded, "Wow, you literally just confessed to a detective you know that?" I laughed peering back to Tanika.

"Confessed what?" he says.

"That she was on the dark web?"

"I didn't hear that."

Furrowing my brows, "she literally just -" the smirk and look in his eyes said it all.

"So, Cameron's father has officially stepped in ... you know what that means. Don't you Jane?"

Shrugging my shoulders, "What, that they are definitely on to me now and that each and every move I take is monitored." Tanika and the detective glance at each other with smirks.

"Jane, hear yourself girl, you cornered Cameron, now his father needs to step." she smiles. thick lips stretching genuinely as she looks at me.

"That's not any better, I can already tell his father is scarier, each level of the game has a different level."

"But have you actually ever played those games? there is always a cheat code to destroying each one after the last."

Detective Jalapeno fully turns to her, starry eyed and red faced while he looked at Tanika, and she looks back, for the first time I saw her smile a bright one incapable of holding his glare, light brown skin turning a blush red. A chemistry in their eyes while I looked awkward glancing back at the two. "Uh, I don't play video games." I say awkwardly.

"Like father like son, right? this dinner we need to pay full close attention to him, you two focus on his words I focus on the body language. One thing criminal's have in common, they manage to slip up when you have struck a nerve and their true colors start slipping out."

I watch Tanika's brow furrow in question before diverting her eyes somewhere else in thought. "Hey Jane." she breathes quizzically.

"Mmmmm, yea."

Glancing to the detective "I'll tell you when we get home." her brows still furrowed, unsure of something.

"Whatever it is, I might have an answer" he chimes. A hand on the steering wheel while he gestures in the air.

"It's not important, it's probably just my mind being unsure, but we need to get home and change, I'm not going nowhere fancy smelling like mustard and booty cheeks".

Detective Jollof Rice chuckled thickly, Adams apple throbs slowly. As always, his side profile was heavenly while flashing his pearly whites.

"You can turn here."

Smoothly he maneuvers the steering wheel to our turn, everything he did was smooth, just like a certain individual that popped up in my head, I want to see him again. My brows suddenly furrowed with the thought of Rowan ... wait Rowan? didn't I see him already?

No, Detective Japanese eggplant is still alive, and my pussy is still intact, odd I felt like I just saw him but -

"Corazon's, I need to know something." Tanika and I turn to his stern voice. In thought he looks back, amusement and smile gone. "Tanika," he breathes, "The last thing I want is to keep bringing in any more people into this investigation with me, I still can't sleep at night knowing I put Jane in harm's way. You have brought me right to the source of everything I needed, I can handle this on my own for the rest of the time being. I would love to have you both at the dinner however and then you are free to go on your way." his accent prominent with deep voice.

He gave us the opportunity to run, I can just open the door now and be free from all of this, but would I really be free? I am still in this until the end might as well stay beside the people that want to come for the ride and experience. I laugh quietly to myself opening the door with Tanika behind me. "We'll see you tonight babe. Underwear is still an option, right?" The holes I dig for myself, but the more believable it is, the easier to sell.

The last thing we see is the dark hunger in his eyes before Tanika winked shutting the door, He doesn't leave until were in the building. "Girl, Tarzan gone tear up that pussy." Tanika laughs, I winced with the statement.

"Professional, as long as we are professional, we can fool them."

She chuckles, raising a brow. "Hmph, but does he know that?"

"I mean he knows I have a boyfriend, and besides I think he set his eyes on another prize." She caught on to my side eye and laughed, blood rushing to her cheeks while she giggles. So cute.

Clearing her throat her smile fades, "So we are doing this?"

"Yes, I mean I have to continue but you don't have to."

"Until the end, now that his father is in the mix, we need to be very mindful of everything. Everything we say and every movement." she glanced at me stoically.

Mentally I scoffed to the look, appalled, what's with that look? "Why are you looking at me like that?" I felt awkward, I don't ruin everything ... do I?

The elevator dings opening up as we head back to her home, already the smell of food makes me want to levitate, but I had another topic in the back of my mind that's threatening to break. "Hey, Tanika?"

"Yea?"

"What did you want to say back in the car?"

She looks somewhere in thought, brows furrowing trying to find the memory, "It's not important, like I said I am probably tripping."

By that point my curiosity hit a mark, "Tell me?" I nearly urged.

"Did you catch something familiar about that man?"

My hunch was right about our silent side eyes, Cameron's father does resemble someone vaguely familiar question is who? "Yes, I did. Cameron's father, right?"

"Yes, I don't know something about his stance and physique reminded me of your man for some reason."

That statement suddenly hit me, putting two and two together, no wonder I felt like I just saw Rowan, the physical resemblance was uncanny, I'm no genius when it comes to these scientific stuff or DNA, but I kept getting hit with Deja vu "Thats what I was saying but then aren't all masculine men built almost the same?"

Her face still in question before she shakes her head, "The thing is, we know what happened to his mother, but was his father ever brought up in the conversation?"

I stared at her in thought, wait she is on to something, this whole time of letting Rowan pound me it never occurred to me of his parents. Wow, it's like I accepted the side piece roll with Grace, but then I thought he only had his grandma, who only mentioned his mom, not once ever the father. But it couldn't be ... could it? "You don't think - "

"Nah, there is a similarity there for sure but like I said I am probably tripping, get on in girl we ain't got no more time to waste."

What The Hell happened to the heavenly aroma of the food I smelt outside? the smell of peppers had my eyes watering, Tanika's sister standing in the kitchen blending something crimson red, paste like and chunky it appeared. The air was so spicy It was hard to hold in a cough.

"Hey ya'll, go shower and get ready for your dinner." Even through her goggles her eyes were glossy.

How the hell did she know that?
