cancerous depression

Depression is like cancer,
It is a tumor that runs deep,
It grows and grows,
It doesn't die,
It manifests and leeches off of its victim.
And just like cancer,
Some can beat it.
Some can overcome the deep dark abyss called depression.
Some can treat themselves,
Some can get help,
Some can reach out and gain support from others,
And just like cancer,
Some don't win the battle.
Some give into the darkness.
Some think it's best that they don't exist.
Some decide that maybe others would be better without them.
Some decide that things would be better if they cut the cords.
Depression is like cancer.
It is cancerous in its own ways.
Some fight this battle for many years.
Some give into the battle.
But no one is ever truly alone.
