Chapter 5
Thunder clapped outside as Tarka fried up the rice, Valor watching closely. "Sage is good for smudging- sageing, however you want to call it. It's great for getting rid of unwanted spirits, but it's not a cure-all. Sometimes it'll enrage the entity more." Tarka informed, as Valor nodded.
"And what about rosemary?" Valor pondered, his two-toned eyes watching as Tarka stirred the chicken. "It's good for purifying a space or cleansing it from negative energies. I like to use rosemary to create a cleansing bath. Real pleasant to wash away the negative energy." Tarka responded.
Valor nodded. "Okay, and what about basil? I think I've seen some growing around here too." He asked. The two had been chatting on and off about herbs and plants since dinner, and somehow, Valor ended up learning that Tarka's mother was a green witch, and that Tarka also dabbled in green witchery.
"Basil is good for rituals when you need to draw in positive energy." Tarka turned off the stove, the food being fully cooked. "And what about chamomile?" Valor continued. "It's great for tea." Tarka immediately answered, before shrugging.
"I don't fully remember, but I do remember that chamomile tea is used for relaxation and sleep." Tarka chuckled, before stepping away from the stove. "I'm gonna go water my potted plants, then head off to sleep. I'll eat in the morning." Tarka stated.
She didn't wait for a response from Valor, going straight to water her plants.

Things kept turning up missing or becoming undone. Not just with Tarka's things, but Valor's as well- since he practically moved in, not that Tarka had much of a choice.
Right now, Tarka was looking for the egg basket. "Anything?" Tarka called, as Valor could be heard groaning from the other room. "No. I know you put it down around here!" He hissed. Tarka slightly cringed when she heard the sound of one of her empty flowerpots hitting the ground.
May the flowerpot rest in peace.
Grumbling under her breath, Tarka checked the cabinets. "Still nothing over here, too. Where do these things keep going!?" Tarka snapped, shaking her head as Valor left. "It's not in the house. Were we robbed?" He questioned, as he seemingly grew more paranoid.
That was the last thing Tarka wanted. "I hope not." She stated, grabbing an older basket she used to use for collecting pebbles. "I'll just use this." Sighing, Tarka left the house, Valor following after her to practice his flight.
What was going on? Why were things disappearing!? No one could've been entering without her knowing-!
An angry hiss caused the chickens to begin clucking, and Tarka already cursed at herself for that foolish move. "Quiet down." She told the chickens.
"Cluck, cluck!" Said the chickens.
Tarka huffed and entered the coop, the chickens flying out the door upon it opening. Checking the nests, Tarka began to remove the eggs. She needed to replace the straw in the coop.
Finding a soft-shelled egg, Tarka plopped it on the ground for the hens to peck at, knowing that her chickens will need added calcium.
Crows cawed in the distance, and the faint roar of something powerful followed suit.
