Chapter 3: First Encounter

(Your POV)

It was seven in the evening. Your eyes narrowed as you tapped your fingers on the keyboard of your laptop. You had wanted to ask Sasuke about Squad Seven’s details but it seems that he’s still busy with Orochimaru. And apart from that, you doubted that he will ever share any information to you, so you decided to check into the Leaf’s database, which of course has a darn security system that’s making you almost give up now.

You are currently in your apartment two miles away from the assassination department. Since you turned 18 and had started carrying out missions, or more like killing people you don’t know for Orochimaru, you have been rewarded with your very own base where you retrieve information for the missions you take and for further training yourself as well.

“Stupid security system…” you muttered under your breath followed by a few curses as your attempt to hack the Leaf’s database seemed to be in vain. It appears that every time you try to go into their system not only a virtual machine tries to stop you from retrieving data but there’s like someone alive that blocks your attempts.

You slumped back on the chair and sighed, throwing your head back and staring at the ceiling. You glanced at the monitors across you that show areas outside the apartment through surveillance cameras and noticed that there’s a stranger outside. He was wearing a black cloak and a hood covered his head.

You were quickly on your feet, closed the laptop and headed to a nearby drawer to take your gun out. After attaching the silencer on it, you cautiously locked the door that leads to your surveillance and investigation room then made your way to the front door. You didn’t bother changing the clothes you’re wearing, a white tank top and navy blue shorts. Your back was against the wall next to the door and you heard footsteps from outside. You brought your gun close to your face and waited for the intruder to barge in or probably break your door down.

As you waited, there was no commotion. Instead, a knock on your door was heard. You quickly put your gun down and positioned it behind you as you tried to open the door.

“Hello, Kimeko-san. You have a visitor,” a motherly face greeted you. It was your neighbor, Ryuuka. You tried to open the door only half-way so she won’t see the gun behind your back.

Visitor? You never had any visitors. You put your head out a little and noticed the cloaked guy from your monitor a while ago. The hood was off of him now and your shoulders relaxed as you recognized him.

“Thanks, Ryuuka-senpai,” you smiled at the old lady and she returned the gesture before leaving.

“Kimeko? Your name is Kimeko?” Sasuke asked as he got in your apartment. It’s been two days since you last met him.

“Himura Kimeko. That’s not my real name but I guess you’ve already figured that out,” you said as you closed the door and put the gun behind you.

“I didn’t,” Sasuke said, maintaining his monotone voice.

You turned to him and raised a brow. “You didn’t just ask that lady where my room was while saying my real name, did you?”

“How should I? I don’t even know your real name,” Sasuke made himself sit on your couch.

“Good. Anyway, how did you know where I was and why are you here?”

“First question. I have my ways.”

“Kabuto told you, didn’t he?”

“I don’t talk to Kabuto. Like I said, I have my ways,” Sasuke wasn’t looking at you as he spoke. His eyes moved from one of your walls to another.

“Okay. Answer my second question.”

“I’m here to disclose information about Squad Seven.”

At first you slightly turned your head and narrowed your eyes in disbelief. A lot of questions flooded your head. Why is Sasuke suddenly doing this? What is his true purpose? What if this is just a trap?

“We were four in the squad. Me, also known as Agent S17, but I no longer hold on to that. A guy named Uzumaki Naruto, Agent S07. A girl named Haruno Sakura, Agent S27 and our squad leader, Hatake Kakashi, Agent X14.”

Is he being serious? He just gave out the names of Squad Seven members including their Agent identities yet you’re not sure if he’s telling the truth. Your lack of trust was sensed by Sasuke that he stood up and walked towards you. His height almost reached yours being a tall woman you are (I don’t care if you think you’re short but in this fanfic you’re tall, darling).

“I know you don’t trust me or any word I say. But I know that the information I have is your only hope for taking Squad Seven down. You have no choice but to believe me.”

“Tell me more,” you said, raising your chin. “And tell me your true purpose. Why are you doing this?”

“To get stronger. And to have my revenge on my brother,” Sasuke said it so directly and unwavering it sounded almost believable in your ears. You decided to give him the chance to prove himself to you.

“Follow me,” you said and led him into your surveillance room.

(Kakashi’s POV)

What a day. It was almost nine o’clock when I left the quarters and the way to my apartment is another fifteen minutes I have to wait before I get some rest.

“Oi, Kakashi!”

“Eh?”

I looked all over the place for the familiar voice that called my name. There in one corner I saw Guy and Yamato waving at me. Surely they’re on for a night out again at the local club which I’m not really in the mood to be in right now so I pretended I hadn’t heard and seen them by walking on.

“OI, KAKASHI!!! Stop pretending you didn’t hear me and get your ass over here!!!” Guy yelled, not only taking my attention but everyone else as well.

I took a deep breath and turned to them.

I walked towards them.

“Kakashi! You in for another night at the local club?” Guy asked, bright-eyed at me with his signature smile drawn all over his face.

“No,” I responded. “I’m tired.”

“You don’t look tired! Come on, it’s still too early to get some sleep!” as he always does, Guy had dragged me by my arm and led me to the club. What’s with people dragging me into places all the time?

The loud music and people shouting banged my ears I almost winced and got the urge to cover them with my hands. I shortly followed Guy and Yamato at the bar and sat next to them. At least in this spot the noise isn’t much.

“I’ll have the usual,” Guy confidently told the bartender before turning to Yamato. “What do you drink?”

“Er, uh… I’ll pass this time, I have work tomorrow…” Yamato said, avoiding Guy’s gaze. I knew it. Guy also dragged Yamato with him and the younger one was probably too wary to say no.

“That’s not fair!” Guy then turned to the bartender. “Gimme a beer for my friend here.”

“S-Sir I don’t drink be----”

“Of course you do! Who doesn’t drink beer?”

“M-me.”

Guy ignored Yamato’s response and slid the beer bottle in front of him. I barely noticed the sweat that dropped on the sides of Yamato’s face if Guy hadn’t turned his attention to me.

“And uhh, my bachelor friend here would like a…?” he prompted at me to tell the bartender what I should drink.

“What the heck? Why are you calling me a bachelor when we are all bachelors here?!” I blurted out.

“Ahh, my dear Kakashi. It’s about time you find yourself a girlfriend. Let the ladies know you’re single!”

“I’m not single,” well, that’s how I want to put it even though I really am.

“Oh sure you are. You are just saying that so the hot chick next to you won’t be interested.”

“What hot chick?” I turned my head to the other side and there indeed… next to me sat a…  gorgeous lady. She’s wearing a sleeveless shirt that wrap her body tightly, revealing her curves and a part of her cleavage, paired with dark ripped shorts and boots. I could almost feel a trickle of blood running down my nose. Good thing I always wear a mask, or this would be really embarrassing.

“Talk to her!” Guy whispered before turning his attention back to the bartender. “Give this handsome friend of mine tequila.”

“No-no-no. I’ll have beer,” I protested. This can’t be happening again. Last time I drank tequila… well, I wouldn’t tell you what happened for you may not like it.

“What are you doing?”

“I’m not drinking tequila.”

“Don’t you know that men who are brave enough to go for hard drinks are interesting for women?”

“Guy, for the last time I did not come with you here to make some women get interested in me.”

“That’s the first time you actually said that.”

“Huh? Really?” I ran a hand over my hair and looked up in wonder. “Anyway, I’m still not drinking tequila.”

“Suit yourself. But at least get yourself a girlfriend. Look around you. This place is filled with beauties. And look at those women on the stage. Surely you can make one of them say yes to you. Or perhaps two or even three of them!”

I frowned. “Are you trying to pair me up with a stripper? There’s no way I’m gonna do that.”

Guy chuckled. “I was just kidding. But seriously, why aren’t you in a relationship?"

I averted my gaze towards the bar. I don't understand why he's asking that question. Memories flooded my head again and after a long moment that I wasn't able to answer, Guy excuswd himself to go to the restroom, allowing me to shrug the matter off.

I took a glance at the lady next to me and what the heck? She ordered tequila. My eye studied her figure and once again my eyes landed on the curves and hair. The lights may be dim in the club but her beauty was all clear to me---what am I even thinking? I should get going soon.

I drank the beer bottoms-up and waited for Guy to return so I could bid him goodbye when I heard a sweet voice hum in my ear.

“I think there are no hard or light drinks. That actually depends on how your body reacts to it and how well you can handle yourself,” the lady next to me spoke, her body slightly turned towards me.

“I guess you’re right,” I replied.

“Himura Kimeko,” she held out a delicate hand to me and I took it.

“Hatake Kakashi.”
