As Goemon found himself cornered by Taskmaster, Erron Black, Kano and Kabal, the Samurai tightly gripped his Sword. When he moves to attack Taskmaster, Taskmaster parries the attack and attaches a device to his back. The device then fires a grapple hook which propels Goemon up to the roof. Taskmaster then grapples up to the rooftop of a nearby building. When Goemon is launched to the rooftop, he barely has time to block an attack from Taskmaster. Goemon then kicks Taskmaster away and gets back on his feet. 

Taskmaster: I see you're every bit as skilled as I've been lead to believe. 

Goemon: I know you seek the bounty on my head. But this fight is beyond you. I have no desire to cut you down.

Taskmaster couldn't help but chuckle as he unsheathed his sword. 

Taskmaster: Let's see what you're made of. 

As Taskmaster assumed a combative stance, Goemon did the same. The two paced around each other, sizing each other up and waiting for the other to make the first strike. After a tense standoff, Goemon make the first move, going for an overhead strike, but Taskmaster parries the attack and follows through by launching a fast paced attack on Goemon. Goemon was able to block the attack. When Goemon swings his sword, Taskmaster jumps up and lands on his sword. Goemon was taken aback as Taskmaster delivers a swift kick, knocking Goemon back. Goemon jumps back on his feet just in time to parry another strike from Taskmaster. 

Taskmaster: Not bad. 

Goemon: I've been trained by the best. 

Taskmaster: Is that right? 

As Taskmaster said that, he altered his stance to mimic Goemon's. He then presses the attack. Much to Goemon's shock, Taskmaster's moves was exactly like Goemon's. 

Goemon: What trickery is this?! 

Taskmaster: I have what you would call photographic reflexes. Anything you do, I can do. Only better.

Taskmaster then presses the attack on Goemon, managing to get through Goemon's defenses and land a cut on Goemon. Goemon maintains his composure as he attempts to mount a counterattack. However, Taskmaster was able to counter each of Goemon's moves with pinpoint precision. Taskmaster then parries on of Goemon's strikes and disarms Goemon. He then lands a couple of punches, knocking Goemon to the ground. 

Taskmaster: Stay down.

Goemon: And why would I do that? 

Taskmaster: Because I already have your moments memorized. Anything you can do, I can do. 

Goemon: You make move like me, but you are a pale imitation! 

Taskmaster: Watching you fight those amateurs down there has taught me some of your moves. 

Goemon then adjusts his movements and manages to land a quick strike on Taskmaster before the seasoned assassin manages to dodge another. Goemon then seizes the opportunity to retrieve his weapon and assumed another combative stance. Taskmaster chuckles. 

Taskmaster: You really think you can outplay me, Ishikawa? 

As Taskmaster said that, Goemon adjusted his stance to mimic Taskmaster's earlier stance. This display intrigued Taskmaster. 

Taskmaster: Now that's interesting. 

Goemon: You are not the only one who can learn in the heat of a duel. 

Taskmaster: Then let's see what you got. 

Taskmaster then goes for an overhead strike, but Goemon blocks the attack. He then pushes down on Taskmaster, pushing him against a wall. Taskmaster breaks the hold and swings his sword, but Goemon ducks from the strike and follows through by a wide swing which scratches Taskmaster's armor. Taskmaster retaliates by pulling out a gun and firing at Goemon. Goemon was able to dodge the bullets as he retreats. Taskmaster seizes an opening and fires a rope, trapping Goemon. 

Taskmaster: Not bad, Ishikawa. You're tenacious than I gave you credit for. But this fight is over.

Goemon: I don't think so. 

Goemon then uses his sword to cut through the rope and kicks Taskmaster in the face. Goemon then attempts to press the attack, but Taskmaster recovers and blocks Goemon's strikes. The two press against each other as Goemon attempts to press down on Taskmaster. 

Taskmaster: You really think you can beat me? 

Goemon: I know I can! 

Taskmaster: With each attack you throw at me, I learn it. And when I learn, I  adapt. And when I adapt, I win!

Goemon: We shall see.

Goemon and Taskmaster stared down each other, daring one another to make the first move. Each slight movement from one was studied by the other. Goemon quickly realized that Taskmaster's current fighting style mimicked his own. But Goemon fully understood his own move set. He knew what he could do. And with that, Goemon closed his eyes and took a deep breath. Soon enough, Taskmaster made the first move and charged at Goemon. Goemon was able to dodge Taskmaster's attacks and followed through by delivering a quick jab followed by a sweeping slash. Taskmaster then presses the attack, but Goemon maintained his composure, blocking the attacks. But when Goemon opened his eyes and readied to deliver the final strike, Taskmaster ducks the attack and throws dirt in Goemon's face. Goemon staggers a few feet before Taskmaster goes for the killing blow. Goemon barely blocks in and the two find themselves clashing blades. 

Taskmaster: This has gone on long enough!

Goemon looks over Taskmaster's shoulders and spots an unidentified figure on the rooftop of another building across from them. The figure readies a rocket launcher before casually waving at them. The figure then fires the rocket, forcing the two to break off the attack. Taskmaster goes for the ladder and slides down while Goemon runs and jumps off the rooftop, crashing through the window of the building. The rocket then hits the rooftop, levelling it. And with that, the chase for Goemon Ishikawa had taken an explosive turn.
