Chapter 9: Brand New Person

The air smelled tropical and fruity, the light peaking through the windows which were covered by sheer red curtains.

"Why isn't she waking up?" Lily looked over Alissa, frowning in confusion as she shook her awake for what seemed like the tenth time that afternoon. She rolled her eyes, getting up - frustrated with this whole anxiety act, and headed to the kitchen where she poured a glass of ice cold water. As she walked back in, Andrew stopped her path - giving her a look which specifically gestured her not to go any further.

"Give me the glass." Andrew reached his hand out, to which Lily reached it further out of his grip.

"Look - I am not having a dead girl at my sleepover, okay? Move out of the way, Andrew." She pushed him aside with the power her short body could muster up and walked inside her room. Lily leaned over the passed out girl, pouring the water on her face.

With that, Alissa woke up, choking slightly at the water that had gotten into her mouth. Once she sat up, she coughed it out - having the rest of the guests watch her in amazement. Alissa looked around once she was aware of everything that was happening, slightly confused as to where she was and why so many plastic, hypebeast looking people were around her.

"Ugh, finally, I've been trying to wake you for hours now!" Lily complained, rolling her eyes as she put the glass on the shelf.

"W-What happened?" Alissa stated in a daze like state, holding onto her head to make sure she wasn't bleeding profusely - why else would she have been knocked out for this long?

"It was an anxiety attack or whatever, at least that's what two people said when you were passed out on the floor of your like...little cubicle? Ahaha, it was crazy Al! You should have seen yourself," Lily nudged her on the arm "you looked like those first time drinkers at a party."

The others giggled quietly along to Lily's insensitive remarks about Alissa's anxiety attack.

Alissa didn't know how to react, besides nervously laughing along with them all - hoping it would soon transition to the point where everyone would have been passed out by drinking too much.

------

"It's more of a party than a sleepover, huh?" Andrew spoke as he looked at the risque game of truth and dare that was being played while Andrew and Alissa sat in the quiet corner of the room, each with a red solo cup in their hands.

"Hm.." Alissa mumbled in agreement, looking at the people in front of her, swirling the purple drink inside of the cup. "What's inside of this anyway? I've never seen alcohol look like that." She inspected the contents of the cup, furrowing her brows in confusion.

Andrew gave a little chuckle, watching the shy girl looked more confused than ever, eventually taking the cup away from her. "Trust me, it's worse than alcohol."

"Right. How do you know Lily by the way?" Alissa turned around and faced him, comfortably leaning back on the pink bean bag chair, crossing her arms as she awaited his response.

"We knew the same dealer."

"Dealer?" She squinted her eyes.

"Yeah...like weed.."

"Why even do that stuff? Isn't it harmful to your lungs?" She raised a brow.

"I mean, isn't coffee practically harmful as well?" Andrew flashed a small smile.

Alissa opened her mouth, wanting to argue her point, but knew he was right - eventually too much of anything would be harmful to your body.

"Come here..." Andrew held her hand, picking her up and shifting through the bodies in the room, eventually going to the master bedroom which belonged to Lily's parents.

The bedroom was lavish, a complete opposite from Alissa and Wyatt's bedroom. It consisted of a massive king bed, decorated with plush, satin sheets and duvet as well as pillow covers. A picture of the two hung above the massive headboard, framed in mahogany wood, polished with tung oil, the sharpness contrasting with the opaque white wall.

Andrew sat her on the bed, to which she shyly crossed her legs, starting to bite on her lips as she watched him open up the bed side table's drawer - finding the little zip lock bag of marijuana.

Her eyes widened, reliving what Wyatt had strictly told her about the drug. Alissa gulped, the nervousness being evident on her face, as well as the speed of lip biting starting to increase.

"I don't think we sho-"

"Don't worry, I won't let you smoke the whole thing, one or two puffs should be enough to get you feeling a little buzzed."

"I don't know, isn't it...a sin?"

Andrew looked over at her, shaking his head in disappointment at how much of a buzzkill she was being. "Listen, it isn't - okay? We aren't killing anybody, right? Now that's a sin!" He chuckled.

Alissa grew tensed, feeling as if he knew exactly what was happening in her life in that moment. Nevertheless, she waited for him to finish rolling the joint. Once he did, he pulled out a lighter from his jean pocket, lighting it as it sat in his mouth first. He inhaled the drug, sighing in relief. Andrew handed the joint to Alissa, nodding in approval for her to take a hit.

She obliged, what other choice did she really have? Alissa inhaled the drug, pulling it away from her mouth as she coughed violently afterwards, to which Andrew laughed, patting her back in hopes that she wasn't too affected by the strong hit.

"Do you ever think robots would take over the world?" Andrew stated blankly, laying next to Alissa on Lily's parents' king bed.

"Maybe..." Alissa spoke out lazily, being too tired and just wanting to go to sleep, but the loud music in the next room didn't let her. She managed to keep up at least eight different conversations with Andrew, all of them being complete nonsense to her.

Maybe if I pretend to be asleep, he won't notice - she thought to herself.

Another chapter that didn't include Wyatt, it's a nice transition from insane to sane, but it is boring for me to write as I really enjoy making my own characters suffer emotionally.

What did you guys think of Andrew? Did you like him? Do you think Alissa will eventually fall in love with him? Also, how about Lily? What do you think about her and what do you predict for her future in this story?

I'd love to know your guys' thoughts and opinions! Leave them in the comments. Also, feedback is always appreciated. Thank you all for the reads, comments and votes!
