Chapter 20: Call
Alissa looked at Andrew in shock, shuddering in the cold night. Her hand reached out in an attempt to save him, but failed when Andrew collapsed on the ground beneath him, bleeding out profusely from his stomach.
Wyatt grabbed Alissa by her upper arm, taking advantage of how much shock she was in and bringing her back inside. He locked the door behind the two of them, bringing out a camcorder to film a video for his channel.
Alissa raced to the kitchen, grabbing the phone and quickly dialing 911.
"Sorry, the number you are calling is currently blocked or unavailable, please try again later."
Her heart sank, realizing she had finally lost. It felt like a surreal reality - knowing she'd be stuck in this continuous loop of murder and mental torture. Part of her felt like it would be useless trying to fight for something that will eventually trap her again.
Thinking quickly on her feet, Alissa trotted upstairs, trying to open the locked door to the nursery. Her mind raced to all the bad situations her child could have been without any supervision. She nudged the door with her shoulder, wincing in pain as body had become too weak. Nevertheless, she tried over and over again, until the door was finally open.
Alissa quickly rose to her feet, rushing to the small cot and peeking over to see how her child was. Thankfully, he was unharmed and safe - no signs of abuse. She scooped him up while he rested in his baby blue fleece blanket. With that, she walked downstairs, holding him close in her embrace.
As she walked to the front door, Wyatt stopped recording and stormed over to her.
"Give him to me." He attempted to take Celare from her arms.
"Let go of him, you fucking psycho!" Alissa screamed in Wyatt's face, still holding onto her child as tightly as she could - even if she would be bruising his soft skin.
"I swear to God, Alissa. Give him to me!"
Alissa kicked near his upper thigh with the power she had in her lower body. She took this chance to unlock the door with her one free hand - quickly rushing out and dropping the various keys on the ring.
Without thinking, Alissa ran towards the lake - knowing that was the shortest escape route for her. She walked through the water, always looking behind her in case Wyatt had gotten up and chased after her.
For what seemed like hours, she had finally managed to get through the lake to the other end - shaking off the cold, wet water. She quickly laid Celare down, wringing out his fleece blanket. Once she did that, Alissa ran as fast as her little legs could take her, hoping to get on the other side of the forest and walk to the police station.
———
Alissa sat at the dirt ground of the forest - breastfeeding her son as she quietly weeped. Cars went along without offering her a ride, but she still had hope that somebody would notice her. Knowing this would be her last hope, she grabbed her phone, dialing Lily's number and calling her. It continued to ring, but just went straight to voicemail. An annoyed sigh escaped from Alissa, putting the phone back in her pocket.
Once Celare finished feeding, she stood up, covering her exposed left breast. Alissa waved at any and every single automobile that crossed her path - desperately trying to get the drivers' attention. Not until, an old fashion truck came along.
"Hey, you seem like you need help." The lady called out to a shocked Alissa.
Her mouth hung open in fear, swallowing the lump forming in her throat.
"I'm fine."
"Well - you're out here stranded by yourself, so I assume you aren't fine. Come on in, I'll help."
Alissa stared back at the woman, holding onto her child tighter than she had before. Nevertheless, she obliged, walking around the truck and getting into the passenger seat.
"So, that's your kid? What's its name?" The lady inquired, the toothpick in her mouth making her sound a little rough.
"His name is Celare."
"That's a cute name, what does it mean?"
Alissa stayed quiet, not knowing how to answer that question.
"Well?"
"I didn't name him that. His father did."
"Oh, right. Men are controlling sometimes."
"Maybe all the time." Alissa mumbled under her breath, adjusting uncomfortably in the passenger seat.
"Well, I need to take something from back home so we might be making a detour if that's o-"
"No! Don't." Alissa blurted out in a panic, breathing heavily. "P-Please don't take a detour back into the woods I'm begging you."
"Calm down girly, I need to get the gallon of oil and we'll be set."
"I'm begging you please don't go back in there, please. I-I'll pay for your gallon when we get to the city I promise just...please don't go back in there."
The lady chuckled, looking at Alissa as if she was a maniac. She shook her head, continuing to drive the route she had now decided to take.
Meanwhile, Alissa needed to think quick on her feet in order to stop her from driving her back into the woods. She yanked the razor blade necklace off the rear view mirror, leaning over and slitting the woman's throat - gasping in shock as she leaned back so the blood wouldn't get all over her and her child.
———
Alissa had spent an hour cleaning off the area where the woman's blood at splattered - while her son slept in the passenger seat which was guarded by her own clothes.
Once she was done, she sighed - fearing that she wouldn't know how to drive the heavy vehicle as she hadn't ever tried doing that.
A gunshot erupted, along with a piercing sensation in Alissa's right arm. She immediately shut the door - starting up the RV and reversing it out the way. Once she did, her side view mirror showed a tall figure holding a rifle - to which she then reversed, crushing him.
Alissa winced in pain, the hard hit of her head and seat causing her a small migraine. She looked over to see if Celare was alright, and thankfully her clothes were enough of a barricade between the floor and seat. Her eyes wandered along to the side view mirror, seeing Wyatt's glasses reflecting the moonlight in individual pieces. Nevertheless - she pulled the RV out of the pile of two dead bodies, messily driving herself and Celare safely out of the woods.
