2-6: fìsä'eoio
Tsu'tey and I climbed out of the beautiful clear lake. We called for our Ikrans but they didn't hear us so we just set up in the sand and fell asleep next to one another.
Tsu'tey woke me up since he had found our Ikran's doing the nasty. I completely forgot that it was mating season for them. Turns out Tsamun likes bigger women.
"Alì'a you didn't even say anything, you like Tsamun?"
"As much as you like Tsu'tey." she sassed.
"Real mature aren't we?" I teased.
"You're just jealous I was mated first."
"I am not! I am to be mated today!"
"Tanhì, You're arguing with your ikran out loud again." Tsu'tey chuffed.
"Don't make fun, I'm making sure doesn't run off like that again!" I hissed, "Now we're going to be late to our own ceremony." I groaned. This is a disaster.
"It's okay Tanhì, we'll be okay." he reassured me as we flew home.
----------------------
"Where have you two been!" Mo'at hissed. Tsu'tey winced, "You steal my daughter-" she paused to look at me. I nodded. She saw me as her daughter and I had to admit, I am more than flattered, "and run off into the night to do Eywa knows what!"
"A swim-" Tsu'tey interjected.
"A swim?! you were gone all night for a swim?!" she groaned and took a deep breath, "No time for this, go get ready." she sighed.
Neytiri grabbed my arm and tugged me along to the back of home tree where two roots had intersected, a hollow was where the baths were taken. I got into the water but it was far colder than the water in the lake.
"It's so cold!" I exclaimed.
"It would have been warmer if you got here earlier!" Saeyla hissed. She began undoing my corn rows carefully. Neytiri handed me soap scented like the water lilies in the lake. I dried out my hair and Neytiri gave me my clothes. A neck-piece with amber beads woven into it and a tooth from Txan'aritx, a twisted lily top which was heart shaped but it was too big so we turned it into an outfit, a sash-like loincloth, and finally, a ring, given to me by Mo'at which had a pearl in it.
Neytiri took all of my loose hair and put the top half into a neat bun and the rest was woven into my tswin.
"There, you look beautiful!" Neytiri said excitedly.
"You look better than normal." Saeyla said sarcastically.
I chuckled and hugged them both,"Thank you so much for helping me out today, you guys are the best." I gushed. I asked Saeyla if she could help with the paint, it was white. Neytiri said it made my eyes stand out and she heard from Jake that white was a wedding color back on earth.
So far, nothing was wrong. At least I thought so.
----------P.O.V. Tsu'tey----------
A pot was thrown against a wall of the tree and crumbled away.
"How dare you disobey me! You're my son! You should obey your mother!" Artsut screamed. Artsut and Ateyo are believers in the old ways, their sons and daughters answer to their mothers no matter what. Mo'at was one of the first to adopt a new way of parenting and everyone followed suit, except Artsut. She was furious that ways were changing and she had lost her power. Only a woman like she, could call a Tsahik a disgrace and walk away unscathed.
Tsu'tey flinched at his mother's screaming. He just wanted to settle down and live well with that which he loved.
"Mother, I-"
"Why couldn't you marry someone respectable like Saeyla or Maru? Why a demon!?" Her words stung, often, he had called his Tanhì exactly that.
"Mother!" his own outburst had surprised him, "I love her and I'm not letting anything else get in the way of our union. Leave."
Artsut looked to her husband Ateyo and Ateyo shook his head and they left. Despite their aggressions, Tsu'tey loved his parent's dearly. But he wasn't going to let them get in his way. Arvok held mutual disappointment, but only because he's still under the thumb of his parent's.
He sighed and began picking up the pieces of the shattered pot. He was going to be with her, regardless of whether the whole clan objected. His chest rose with a deep breath. A warmth filled him whenever he thought of her. What he was about to do might hold consequences unfor-seen, but he would do it anyway. He set the broken pieces down near the herb holder and began painting himself in ochre and yellow paints. When it had dried he added a dark, dull blue to his collar bones and legs, over his left eye, an on his shoulders. He decided he was ready.
----------P.O.V. Lahela----------
Everything was beautiful, I emerged from behind the center of Hometree and met Mo'at. I felt so happy. Tsu'tey joined us shortly and greeted me with a small reassuring smile. We turned to Mo'at.
"I see your mother won't be joining us for the ceremony, Tsu'tey, it will go smoothly even without her." she acknowledged. Tsu'tey looked tired. I took his hand. His head jerked up to see me, to which, I smiled.
"Rutxe tivìng mikyun, ma frapo!" she gained everyone's attention, "Today, a new union blossoms between two of our most respected and celebrated. As mother of Heyla'nì te Tskaha Mo'at'ite, and Tsahik of Tsu'tey te Rongloa Atey'itan, I bless this union. Eywa ngahu." she finished. She placed one hand on my shoulder and her other hand on Tsu'tey's shoulder.
Festivities began, drinking, eating, dancing, singing. A great celebration. Tsu'tey still seemed distant.
"Tsu'tey, is everything okay?" I place a hand on his shoulder.
"I really wanted my family here today, to be happy for me." he seemed glum.
"What about the Paysul'kxor clan and your family there?"
His face lit up, "I had forgotten." he laughed. He was embarrassed of himself for being forgetful.
"Isn't it my job to be the forgetful one?" I chuckled.
"Yes but I've been so preoccupied I forgot to introduce you to my relatives." he stood up and led me to the group of Na'vi dressed cleanly, decorated in shells and pearlescent beads. A woman stood up and met with Tsu'tey. She looked older than Mo'at and somehow sterner than her. She was highly decorated and had a regal air about her.
"This is Tsahik Nantì te Rongloa Newey'ite, my aunt."
"I see you Tsahik." I greeted her nervously.
"I see you, little one." She smiled. "My nephew has told me much about you, I'm sorry if my sister in law has caused you trouble, I always knew she was misguided."
"It's quite aright, not many people are used to avatars yet and I'm sure they aren't keen on us staying here."
"That must be troubling."
"Not at all, I understand why they're upset and I'm happy that my clan is mostly accepting of avatars." Norm stumbled drunkenly into a root, breaking something.
"I-is he okay?"
"I'm sure he's fine. He doesn't know how to slow down." I sighed. I was glad to be meeting Tsu'tey's family, but one stuck out to me. A little girl named Tsenu. Both her parents had died in the war. Her father was Tsu'tey's cousin.
"Hello Tsenu, I'm Heyla." I introduced with the nickname I knew was easiest for her to say.
"Hello." she said quietly. She was hidden behind her grandmother Nantì. She seemed fond of the secondary necklace I was wearing. A tooth of Alì'a a smaller duller tooth, I gave it to her since she seemed to like it so much. our interactions lasted less than a minute but I felt sorry for the poor girl. Her eyes look a lot like Nantì's but her nose is like Tsu'tey's. I guess na'vi are like printers in the way their genes work. Oh, I hope when I have kids they won't inherit my masculine nose or oblong shaped head!
