Happy Birthday

Kate POV

It's been a week since I met Tony and Pepper and them informing me about Quinn's strange behavior hasn't happened which I'm glad.

I looked over at the bleachers and see Quinn talking on her phone she notices me looking and waves at me.

"How adorable." A voice says behind me as I roll my eyes in annoyance before turning around and fake smile at Riley who smiles at me.

"Riley shouldn't you be practicing you're shooting instead of talking to me? After all you had trouble landing the arrow on the bullseye." I reminded her making the smile on her face fall and glare at me giving me the satisfaction of seeing her mad.

Riley glare is then replaced with a smile, "You're right I should be practicing but it's so hard with Quinn being here. I mean just look at her." Riley said looking behind me to stare at Quinn making me clenched my hands in anger as Riley continued staring at Quinn before turning her attention to me.

"What a sight she is you can't blame me for having trouble in the tournament and in practice when she's here and can't help but not look at. I mean do you see those arms of hers." Riley steps closer to closer to me, "Tell me have you felt those muscle arms of hers? I'm sure they feel quite muscular. In fact one of my friends that goes to Quinn's school has told me she carries quite a package if you get what I mean." Riley whispers to me with a mischievous smile.

Having enough of how inappropriately she's talking about Quinn I grab her by the collar of her shirt taking her by surprise at first but it goes away and she continues to smile at me.

"Shut the hell up! Stop talking about Quinn like that!" I whispered exclaimed.

"I'm not saying anything wrong, Bishop. In fact, from the way you reacted it seems like everything I said is true." She said amused, "Tell me have you seen how big it is?"

I looked at her in anger but also confused by what she meant. She must've noticed because she chuckled and pulled my hand away from the collar of her shirt.

"Oh my god you don't know do you? At least tell me you know what today is or do you not know?" She asked amused and I stayed silent making her laugh.

"Well just till practice is over and you'll find out what today is?" Riley said before walking away where the rest of the team is who were looking at us with worries. It was no secret to the team that Riley and I don't get along and how in this season we been arguing more.

I glanced at Quinn who looked worried but all I could think about was what Riley said me not knowing.

"Could today have to do what Tony and Pepper warned me about."

I smiled as I gave her a thumbs up signaling that everything fine when in reality it wasn't for all I could think of throughout practice was what Riley said and it didn't help when I would see her smirking at me. Although her smirk would fall when I hit the bullseye every time receiving cheers from the team, coach, and I would turn my attention every time to the bleachers and see Quinn clapping a smile on her face.

Once practice was officially over I ran to bleachers that Quinn sat in and beside her was my duffle bag that she was holding out for me.

"Thanks Quinn." I said grabbing my gym bag from her and open it to place my bow and arrows inside.

"Cmon let's go and grab something to eat I'm starving." I told her wanting us to leave before Riley gets the opportunity to talk to Quinn.

Quinn nods and stands up and just as we're leaving I hear Riley yelling Quinn's name making me groan in annoyance.

"Just pretend you don't hear her and keep walking away. I honestly don't want to deal with her anymore than I already have too." I pleaded Quinn sighs but reluctantly nods and we continue walking.

Unfortunately Riley caught up and we had no choice but to stop walking and turn around to face her. Quinn smiles at her while I glare at her but Riley ignores me her attention focused on Quinn.

I noticed her hands behind her back like she is hiding something.

"Hey Riley sorry I didn't stop we didn't hear you." Quinn apologized lying, "It's okay I was calling you're name because I wanted to give you this." Riley said revealing a wrapped present and that's when I realized what today is.

"Happy birthday Quinn." Riley excitedly says holding Quinn's birthday present.

Third POV

"Wha... how did..." Quinn could barely form a sentence feeling mixture of emotions as she looked at a excited Riley holding her birthday gift. Meanwhile Kate felt embarrassed that she didn't know today is Quinn's birthday so she didn't know to buy Quinn a birthday present.

"A friend of mine goes to you're school remember and they told me when you're birthday is so I got you an present." Riley explained as she handed Quinn her present, "I would've gotten you a cake as well but I don't think coach would've approved of me bringing cake to practice even if it's you're birthday." Riley jokingly added shooting a smirk at Kate and continued to talk.

Kate didn't care what Riley is saying as her attention was on Quinn who stared at the present with a blank expression. Kate places her hand on Quinn's shoulder breaking Quinn trace and she looks up at Kate in confusion.

"Quinn are you going to open your present?" Riley asks breaking Kate and Quinn eye contact with each other. Quinn clears her throat and nods but not before she glances at Kate who is staring at the ground, "Yeah of course." Quinn replied despite not wanting to but she knew that if her aunt May was here she wouldn't approve of Quinn's rude behavior by not opening the present.

Kate curious what Riley got for Quinn couldn't help but look up and watches Quinn unwrap the small box present revealing the present to be a box that contained a SD memory cards for Quinn's camera.

"I thought you're memory card is maybe running out of space with the pictures you taken for the team and tournament that you needed a new box of memory cards." Riley tells her trying to sound calm but Kate noticed the hint of nervousness in her voice something that surprised her.

"Thank you, Riley. I was actually going to buy a box of memory cards before the semi finals but now I don't have too anymore." Quinn said a small smile on her face making Riley smile back.

Kate couldn't help but feel jealous that Riley got Quinn a present and actually made her smile something Quinn has never done whenever Riley talks to her.

Quinn unzips her backpack and puts her present inside her backpack and zips her backpack and swings her backpack over her shoulder.

"So do you have anything planned for your birthday? Because if not their is this place we can-"

"Actually I do have plans. My family is taking me out to eat." Quinn lies cutting Riley off because all she wanted to do right now was hang out with Kate keep her mind off what today is but now that Riley revealed today is Quinn's birthday. Quinn knows that Kate will be asking her why she didn't tell her.

"Oh well what about after you're done celebrating with you're family. We can go out and do whatever you want." Riley asks as she steps closer to Quinn and places her hand on Quinn's shoulder making Kate tense at the sight especially noticing that Quinn looked uncomfortable.

Quinn chuckles and discreetly tapping Kate's arm signaling for help.

"Actually Quinn and I are going to hang out before she has to get ready for her birthday dinner." Kate joins in the conversation much to Quinn's relief and Riley's distaste.

Before Riley could say more Kate starts pulling Quinn by her arm.

"Bye Riley, thank you for the gift." Quinn shouted as she let Kate continue to pull her arm.

Kate didn't let go of Quinn's arm and didn't say no word to Quinn making her nervous. Kate didn't let go of Quinn's arm till they arrived in the park that Kate and Quinn took Morgan to. Once Kate let go of Quinn's arm she angrily turns around to face Quinn who takes a step back at the sight of a furious Kate.

"So are you going to tell me why you didn't tell today was you're birthday?" Kate asked her arms crossed against her chest, "Well you never asked when my birthday is." Quinn jokingly pointed out only to quickly apologize when Kate raised her eyebrow in a challenging matter.

"If it makes you feel better I'm really glad you never asked me when my birthday is." Quinn confesses as she sat down in the park bench, "Why does that make you glad?" Kate replied curiously sitting down beside Quinn looking at her in confusion.

"Because I stopped celebrating my birthday so I don't see the point in telling people when my birthday is, and if they ask I just tell them I don't celebrate my birthday." Quinn says making Kate confuse why she doesn't celebrate her birthday till she realizes why and looks Quinn with sympathy.

"Is it because Peter is no longer here?" Kate cautiously asks as she intertwines hers and Quinn's hand together and her question is answered when Quinn averts eye contact.

Kate knew that that it was a hard topic for Quinn to talk about so she never pushed Quinn to talk about it. Because she didn't want to pressure and make her uncomfortable. But like Kate told Quinn it's bad to keep those emotions bottled inside her.

"I understand now why you didn't tell me." Kate pauses and squeezes Quinn's hand grabbing Quinn's attention and she looks up at Kate, "But like I told you before I don't want you to keep all this sadness you feel to yourself because you miss you're brother and aunt. It isn't healthy for you to do that. So whenever you feel sad, mad, or whatever it is you feel. Just come to me and talk to me, okay. I'll listen to you and comfort you." Kate repeats what she told Quinn when they were at Quinn's apartment.

"I didn't know you're brother but I don't think he would've liked you not celebrating you're birthday or be sad." Kate said, "Actually today is the first time in three years I'm not sad on my birthday. Usually I'll be sad as my birthday approaches but this year is different." Quinn confesses looking down at her lap.

"What made this year different from the past three years?" Kate asked curiously and Quinn slowly looks up at Kate who looks at her with a look in her eyes that Kate has never seen in Quinn's eyes before, "You did... ever since we reunited this year has been different. Because for the first time I been feeling...happy something that I haven't felt and that's what made me not sad because I get to be with you." Quinn tells Kate with a sincere voice.

Kate eyes widened not expecting Quinn to say that to her. The two look at each other in silence and Kate could've sworn Quinn glanced down at her lips before looking up at her eyes again. Kate feeling brave starts to lean in and Quinn does the same but before they could close the gap. The two break apart when they hear a loud horn sound.

Kate and Quinn look away from each other both blushing in embarrassment at what almost happened.

Quinn clears her throat gaining Kate's attention and the two nervously look up at each other.

"That was a loud horn huh?" Quinn nervously says and Kate nods. "Yeah it was loud." Kate agreed and the two sat in awkward silence.

"Cmon Kate say something."

Before Kate could think of anything to say Quinn stands up and sticks her hand out for Kate to grab.

"I want to take you to one of the places Peter and I would go to after school." Quinn said and Kate grabs Quinn's hand and helps Kate stand up both girls smiling at each other neither letting go of each other hands.

Thankfully the awkwardness went away as the two talked about the upcoming semi finals that will happen in two weeks. As they continue walking Kate started to recognize they are in Quinn's old neighborhood.

"And we are here." Quinn announces as they stand outside a deli shop called Delmar's Deli-Grocery.

"Delmar's Deli-Grocery? Are we buying something to make for lunch?" Kate asked confused Quinn chuckles and opens the door for Kate, "No this place serves the best sandwiches in Queens." Quinn replied as the two walk inside the store.

"Hey Mr. Delmar." Quinn cheerfully greets the man behind the counter who smiles at Quinn, "Hey Ms. Parker I haven't seen in weeks I was beginning to think you wouldn't come here anymore." Delmar replied.

Quinn shook her head, "No I just been busy with schoolwork."

Delmar nods and takes notice of Kate, "And who is you're friend here?"

"This is my friend Kate Bishop. Kate meet Mr. Delmar he's the owner of the shop." Quinn said introducing the two.

"It's nice to meet a friend of Quinn's." Delmar says to Kate and looks at Quinn, "So number five right?" Delmar asks even though he knew that was Quinn's usual order.

Quinn nods and faces Kate, "What about you, Kate?"

Kate looks up at the menu and decides she'll get the same as Quinn.

"I'll have the same as Quinn please." Kate said and Delmar nods and tells the other worker their order and begins to make sandwiches they ordered.

While Quinn and Delmar catch up Kate starts browsing the store and stops when she sees one of the refrigerators filled with different cakes and that's when a idea hits her.

"I'll be right back I forgot I needed to call my mom after practice." Kate tells Quinn who nods and watches as Kate walks out the store to call her mom.

Delmar POV

"So you finally got yourself a girlfriend, huh?" I ask watching Quinn look at Kate through the store window. Quinn immediately looks away to look at me, "No we are just friends like I told you she is my friend." Quinn quickly replies as I look at her in amusement.

"Yeah keep telling yourself that." I told her Quinn opens her mouth to protest but I continue speaking, "I see the way you two look at each other and friends do not look at each other the way you two do. I get that you're scared thinking she might reject you but you shouldn't let fear get in the way of you asking out Kate who clearly is the reason you been acting different these past months. Now go and ask her out on a date." I encourage her as my employe hands me hers and Kate's sandwiches.

Quinn pulls out her wallet and hands me $15 dollars but I don't accept the money, "It's on the house consider it a gift." I told Quinn subtly referencing what today is.

Quinn's eyes widened then smiles, "Thanks Delmar... for the advice and free sandwiches. Have a good day."

Quinn POV

I exist the store and see Kate kneeling down talking to a small browned haired girl that looked to be around nine or ten year's old she had her hair in a ponytail and wore a slightly loose black vest base, long blue sleeved shirt, blue jeans, sneakers, and carried a grocery bag from Delmar's Deli-Grocery.

Kate sees me over the girls shoulder and grabs her duffel bag before standing up. The girl turns around and her eyes widened at the sight of me. As she stared at me I couldn't help but feel like I know her. She turns and tugs at Kate's shirt gaining her attention the two talk and then the girl runs off to a woman with short blonde haired who has her shoulder leaning against the wall and looks down at the girl. Although I couldn't get a good look of the woman face.

I shrug my shoulders and look at Kate who was looking at the girl.

"Hey Katie." I said turning Kate's attention back to me and looks at me amused, "Did you just call me Katie?" Kate asked a small smile on her face.

"Yeah I been thinking of nicknames to call you." I tell her and smile at hearing Kate laugh, "Well seems only right that I get to call you a nickname as well." Kate replied as she walks towards me.

"Seems fair but make sure to pick a good one." I said handing Kate her sandwich, "Thank you." Kate says as she unwraps her sandwich and I glance over her shoulder to see if the girl and woman were still at the same spot only to see they were no longer there.

"I wonder why she looked surprised when she saw me and took off running?"

I turn my attention back to Kate and notice her looking satisfied as she bit her sandwich, "So based on you're reaction it seems I was right calling this the best sandwich place in Queens." I said smirking in victory.

"Wipe that smirk off you're face." Kate said rolling her eyes at my behavior, "I have no idea what you're talking about." I reply pretending not to know what she's talking about. Kate playfully slaps my shoulder and I mockingly glare at her we both stare at one another then burst out laughing.

Once we calmed down I nervously look at Kate and subconsciously grab ahold of her hand, "If it's okay with you do you mind if we go back to the apartment and watch movies. It's one of the things Peter and I would do for our birthday while we waited for aunt May to prepare the food.

Kate is surprised at first but nods and squeezes my hand in comfort, "Yeah of course. I was actually going to ask you if you wanted to go there and we could watch tv or if you were comfortable you could tell me more what you and... Peter would do on you two's birthdays."

"Yeah I'm fine with that." I assure her and we walk to the apartment. As we're walking I remembered the little girl that Kate was talking to.

"Who was that little girl you were talking too?" I asked curious for some reason I couldn't help but wonder why I felt this strange feeling when she looked at me, "Oh she bumped into me outside when I was done talking to my mom I was asking her if she was okay then you showed up." Kate told me.

"I wonder why she took off running when she saw me?" I ask recalling the look in her eyes when she saw me, "I don't know but for some reason she seemed familiar to me." Kate tells me and makes me think back to that strange feeling I felt.

"Like you seen her before?" I asked, "Maybe but it doesn't matter it's not like I'm going to see her again." Kate says shrugging her shoulders and takes bite of her sandwich.

I chuckle at the look of Kate's face as she eats her sandwich.

Third POV

"So what movies did you and Peter watch?" Kate asked putting her phone in her back pocket as she and Quinn stepped out of the elevator, and walked to were the apartment is and stopped when the two stood outside the apartment door. Kate watched as Quinn unlocked the door with her apartment key.

Quinn looked up, "Well I was thinking we could-"

Quinn stops mid-sentence when she notices a smudge of ketchup in Kate's cheeks making her chuckle.

"What's so funny?" Kate asked, "You got ketchup on you're cheek." Quinn tells her amused but before Kate could wipe the ketchup off. Quinn wipes it off with her thumb.

Quinn pulls her thumb away and smiles, "There all gone."

Kate and Quinn stare at each other neither breaking eye contact and as the two stare at each other. Quinn recalled her conversation with Mr. Delmar including what Mister Stark and Pepper would say to her when it came to confessing her feelings for Kate.

"I'm Spider-Woman, I fight bad guys for living I shouldn't be afraid to confess my feelings to Kate."

"Kate-"

Quinn is cut off by Kate unexpectedly and kissing her on the lips taking Quinn by surprise not expecting that. Kate pulled away and instantly felt fear when she saw Quinn's eyes widened in shocked.

"I- shit- I'm so sorry-"

Kate is cut off by Quinn's lips on hers. Kate is surprised but the shock wears off and she reciprocates the kiss. The soft lips of Quinn makes Kate feel butterflies in her stomach. Quinn cups Kate's face as she wraps her arms around Quinn's waist. The fear both girls felt of being rejected vanished as they kissed and put all the suppressed emotions they felt for each other these past months into the kiss.

Quinn is the first to pull away from the kiss and smiled cheekily at a astound Kate.

"I must be a pretty damn kisser for you react like that." Quinn said enjoying Kate's reaction.

Kate snaps out her state and slaps Quinn's shoulder.

"You asshole I thought you didn't-"

Quinn interrupts Kate by pecking her on the lips, "You have no idea how long I been wanting to kiss you."

Kate smiles and wraps her arms behind Quinn's neck bringing the two closer, "I think I have a pretty good idea on how long."

Before the two could kiss again Quinn hears noises coming from inside the apartment.

"Did you hear that?" Quinn asks pulling away from Kate and standing protectively in front of her. Not waiting for Kate to respond Quinn opens the door and is greeted by the sight of....

"Mister Stark?"

"Surprise kid." Mister Stark said and pats Quinn's shoulder. Quinn places her backup next to the coat hanger. Mister Stark walks her into the kitchen and she is surprised to see Pepper and Morgan here and a birthday cake in the middle of the table.

"Happy birthday Quinn." Pepper said walking towards Quinn and hugs her and is hugged back by Quinn.

Quinn feels someone tugging her pants and knew it was Morgan. She looks down and see that it is Morgan and picks her up from the floor.

"Happy birthday Quinn." Morgan says as she wraps her arms around Quinn neck and Quinn couldn't help but laugh muttering 'thank you'

Kate smiled at the adorable sight and pulls out her phone to take a picture of the two.

"How did you know I was going to be here?" Quinn asked confused and her question is answered when she sees Kate sheepishly smile.

"Surprise." Kate says a hint of nerves in her voice.

"Kate called us when you two went to buy sandwiches she got the idea when she saw a birthday cake in one of the refrigerators. I'm surprised we managed to buy the cake and arrived here before you two did." Mister Stark explains.

Kate steps up, "I know you said you don't like celebrating you're birthday but you said this year is different because you met me which I'm happy about. I don't know Peter but I'm sure he wouldn't approve you not wanting to celebrate you're birthday and treat it as a day you despise. I think he would want you to celebrate you're birthday not just for you but for him as well. He wouldn't want you to feel sad he'll want you to live out you're life and so would you're aunt as well."

Quinn remains silent taking in everything Kate said to her. She hands Morgan to Pepper and walks towards Kate and embraces her and Kate returns the hug.

"Thank you, Kate for everything." Quinn whispers in Kate's ear and is answered by Kate hugging her tighter and letting go.

Tony and Pepper smile both feeling relieved to see Quinn happy and the feeling grows even more when Kate bravely leans in and kisses Quinn who kisses her back.

"About time you two stop fighting you're feelings for each other. I was beginning to think it never happen." Tony jokingly said receiving a playful eye roll from Pepper as Quinn and Kate smiled happily at each other.

"Now cmon it's time for cake." Tony said and they all sit down in the table chairs and chatter.

As Quinn listened to Kate talk about the competition to Mister Stark and Pepper. Quinn turned around to look at the photo of her and Peter hanging from the hall and smiles. Because for the first time in three years she is celebrating her birthday and is having a good time.
