Alex
SO ALEX, I FELL IN LOVE WITH HIM FROM THE MOMENT I STARTED WRITING ABOUT HIM. PLEASE TELL ME WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT HIM.
Chapter 2
Alexander Christopher did not feel up to staying and working in his office anymore and he sure as hell didn’t feel like going home to an empty house. He was hoping a change of scenery might help him to solve the problem he was having with developing a formula to prove his theory that DNA tampering will do more harm than good. Alex thought that, if scientist don’t respect that God never wanted man and animal to mate with each other, the results of their test will be catastrophic.
He knew if he got the formula right it would be a big find for his company, and in turn making him millions in the process. Being one of the most sought after scientist in the world, a world renowned and an award winning lecturer on Genetic mutation and DNA tampering. Alex was not in it for the money more so the science.
At age 35 he had more money than he would be about to spend in two lifetime. From a young age Alex has been fascinated with science. He graduated top of his class throughout his school and university years with an IQ of 195. Alex made his first few millions in high school, where he founded his company, AC Geno Tec. Alex was not a self-made billionaire by any means. He came from money, very old money.
Both his parents were filthy rich. His mother came from a family of actors, producers and directors. His mother herself was a very well know actress. Cassandra Pikes was the name on everyone’s lips in her time. His father however, grew up in the oil business. His was an oil tycoon as was his father before, and his father before and so on and so forth. Alex decided to stray from both his family businesses and venture into his own field of expertise.
Alex was not only smart, brilliant and rich. He was also very handsome, carrying, friendly and easy going. He was definitely not one of those stuck up rich people. Alex had everything except the most important thing… someone who would love him and not his money.
Alex had a few close calls in terms of getting married. However, none of them panned out. The women were more into his wealth and what status they would hold by marrying him than caring about him as a person. Alex was a firm believer in true love however, he did not think it was easy to come by. Nothing worthwhile is ever easy. Although he had some unfortunate mishaps with women, he was still holding out for his one true love.
Seeing as it was a beautiful Saturday afternoon and the weather was lovely, Alex decided to go to the park to take in some fresh air whiles working on his formula. He found a spot in the park that looked secluded enough, to offer him the peace and quiet he needed in order to work.
Alex worked on his formula for a couple hours, then stopped to take a rest. He was enjoying the sun whiles sipping his coffee from his thermostat. He watched the scene of families playing together and having fun. It brought a smile to his face as he watched brothers and sisters chasing each other around. Alex had always wondered what it would have been like having siblings, looking at the little children playing made his feel like he missed out on a vital part of life.
His gaze was drawn away from the children to a lovely young woman. She couldn’t have been more than 21 or 22, but she was pretty nonetheless. He watched as she walked towards him, with her head bended, engrossed in her phone. As she got nearer, he could see how beautiful she was. He was sitting there with his coffee half way to his lips, staring. Caught off guard by her beauty, he didn’t realise that she was heading straight for him.
She stumbled, spilling the coffee she was holding all over him and his laptop, which started making a sizzling sound. Standing fast, Alex tried to shake the steaming liquid from his laptop. However, he knew that the damage was done.
The beautiful girl gasped. “Ohmygod! I’m sorry, I’m so sorry. Was that expensive? Of course it was expensive, I’m such a klutz.”
Her voice was soft and musical. When Alex finally got a good look at her, he found that he couldn’t stop staring. Her eyes were drawing him in. it was like drowning in a pool of liquid, hazel nut chocolate. He had seen women with her eyes colour before. However, on her they were just stunning.
She moved her head to the side and he watched as her waist length rich, dark, sun kissed brown hair moved with her. Her white teeth were worrying the edge of her soft looking, pouted pink lips. She slipped the phone she was holding in her shoulder bag and as the bag moved so did the fabric of her clothes. Alex could have seen the outline of her body, even in the loose fitting dress she was wearing. She was not only beautiful in face, but in body too.
Although Alex believed in true love, he was never a believer in love at first sight. However, in life there is always a first for everything and everyone, and believe it or not, he was experiencing his very first love at first sight.

Days after and Alex couldn’t stop thinking about the young woman who spilled her coffee on him. Thanks to his cloud back up, none of the work he had done on his laptop was lost.
Alex remembered telling her not to worry about the damages. He told her that the laptop was old and that he had nothing of importance on it. He also told her that he was long overdue for a new one and she just did him a favour by speeding up the process. A blatant lie of course, but Alex would have told her the moon was pink, if that was what she needed to hear, in order to get that look of complete horror off of her lovely face.
When she looked at him and smiled, Alex could have sworn he heard the birds singing, “God has sent me an Angel.” Her smile gave new meaning to the words, “you light up my life.” At that precise moment he felt like, he was finally seeing the light at the end of that dark tunnel.
Alex smiled to himself, remember how she asked him about a hundred times, if he was sure he didn’t want her to replace his laptop. He told her he was, and not to worry herself about it any longer. She smiled at him again and he thought to himself, that he would buy a hundred laptop and have her spill her coffee on them a hundred times. Because having her smile at him, would be worth it.
Standing there with her, made him feel like a love sick teenage and every bit of the nerd he was. Her phone rang and she politely excused herself to answer it. All the while Alex was just staring at her. He was probably making her feel very uncomfortable and wondering if he was a little dense in the head.
She came back to him when she had finished her call. From the look on her face, he could tell that there was somewhere else she needed to be. Although he was sad to see her leave, he again turned down her offer to replace his laptop and to pay for his dry cleaning, sending her on her way.
Two weeks had passed since Alex had seen the Angel in the park. He had been swamped with work, therefore he was unable to go back to the park. One rear afternoon when he was free, Alex took a leap of faith, returning back to the park and sat in the same spot, on the off chance that he would see her again. He was sitting there for a while then he started to call himself stupid for hoping that she could be there. Alex knew nothing about her, he didn’t even have a name to look her up if he wanted to.
Giving up on his silly idea, he stared to get up. Then he heard her sing song voice.
“It’s a very beautiful day, isn’t it?”
He looked around and saw her smiling at him and he just grinned like an idiot, unable to take his eyes off of her.
She took a seat on the bench next to him, handing him a gift, wrapped in pink paper with the word “Sorry” scribbled in black glitters across it. He looked at the pink gift confused and she smiled sweetly at him.
“Well, aren’t you going to open it?”
Without saying a word, he pulled the wrapper from the gift and smiled when he saw the laptop.
She bought him a gift. No one have ever bought him a gift before without some ulterior motive behind it. Looking at her, he was sure she didn’t know who he was. Sitting there with the laptop in his hands and her smiling at him, made him feel like a school boy instead of the sophisticated scientist he was.
“Thank you, but you didn’t have to. I’ve already replaced the one that was damage.”
She shrugged her shoulders and smiled.
“I know you said I didn’t have to, but I felt absolutely horrible for ruining your laptop. I felt like I simply must replace it. So I’ve been coming to this spot every day for the past two weeks, in hopes that I would one day find you here so I can give it to you. So you see, you simply must take it.”
Alex told her he would keep it. Then remembering that he didn’t yet know her name, so he offered her his.
“Excuse my manners. I haven’t even introduce myself as yet. I am Alexander, however, everyone calls me Alex.”
She held out her hand to him and he took it. Her hand was smooth and very soft. He wondered if the rest of her would feel the same.
“It’s nice to meet you Alex, I’m Amber Rose, but you can call me Rose.”
Alex thought the name Rose suited her perfectly. Her beauty was just as unique and her smell was just as divine.
Alex and Amber sat in the park and talked for a long while. It started to get dark, although neither of them wanted to leave. Alex knew he had to let her go. He offered to give her a lift to wherever she was going, but she declined. She did however, gave him her phone number and her gave her his.
Alex called her the next day and every day after that. The started going out to places together and became very close. Although not as close as Alex would have liked. The furthest he had ever gotten with her was a kiss. And even that she was hesitant to do. He knew something was holding her back, and he was willing to build a bridge if that’s what it will take, to get over the huge gap she was putting between them.
Alex wanted to take what they had to the next level. He wanted to start a real relationship with her. So on her 22nd birthday he decided to make a surprise visit to her apartment. At 8 am he rang her door bell, with a bunch of red roses held in his hand and a smile on his face.
Imagine Alex surprise when a guy answered the door, wearing nothing but his boxer shorts.
Alex stood there confused, wondering if he had gotten the address wrong or was at the wrong apartment. He was about to apologise for disturbing the young man, when her heard Amber’s sing song voice.
“Who is it babe?”
Reality hit him like a dose of cold water on a hot summer’s day. The thought that she was playing him all that time, broke what little believe he had in women. She took away his hope and opened his eyes to the cruel and deceitful nature of her species. Inside he was nothing but an empty dark shell.
His heart was completely shattered and he didn’t know what to do, as he watched the woman he loved standing next to another practically naked man with guilt and shame written all over her face. Before his anger could overtake him, he pushed the roses he was holding into her hands and said.
“Happy birthday Amber Rose.”
He turned on his heel and stormed off, thinking that everything they had was a lie. Alex was done being nice, he was going to take his pleasure with as many women as he could. However, he was never letting them get closer than his bed. There was a reason he didn’t trust women and Amber Rose Parker was that reason.
