More New Faces
The rest of class went as you’d expect. Mykie would suggest things, and Zoe would just go along with whatever the suggestion was. Other than that, there wasn’t too much talking between them. Zoe continued to look at Mykie every now and again for whatever reason. And since Mr. Fitzgerald was a prick, he made the project due the next day. As a result, they somehow came to the mutual agreement to meet at Zoe’s house to finish it.
And now it was currently Mykie’s lunch period, which was three class periods after that conversation had happened, and she still really wasn’t sure how she felt about it.
The thought was still just kinda floating around her head, unable to come to some sort of conclusive end. And since she sat alone at lunch, she didn’t really have anything to distract her from it. So she was just sitting there stabbing an apple with a plastic fork and dwelling on her thoughts.
She wasn’t even sure why she was thinking about it that much. It wasn’t that abnormal to work on a school project at someone else’s house. She’d done it before with a few other people… actually just with Mari, but still. She didn’t normally think about that much. It was weird as hell. Perhaps the prospect was a little scary to her. Or…
“Hey, can we sit here?”
Mykie looked up the apple that she had been stabbing to see a couple of boys she was pretty sure were in her math class.
...Or maybe that was last year.
One was tall and lanky with light blue hair and green eyes. The other was kinda short was slightly curly light brown hair and blue eyes.
“Yeah, sure.”
The blue haired boy grinned. “Awesome, thanks! Our usual table was taken over by the popular kids, and no one else would really let us sit at their table.”
“Oh, well, you’re always free to sit here. No one else usually does.”
This was way more human interaction than she was used to.
“We’ll be sure to keep that in mind.” The brown haired boy said.
“Hey, I actually think I recognize you. You’re in our math class, right? Heywood fifth hour?”
Welp, looks like it wasn’t last year.
“Yep.”
“And your name is…” The taller boy trailed off as he tried really hard to remember what Mykie’s name was. She wasn’t really surprised he didn’t know, considering she sat in the back of the class and didn’t talk to anybody.
“I know it starts with and ‘M’, its right on the tip of my tongue…”
“Mykie.” She finally finished for him. She couldn’t stand to watch him struggle any longer.
“Right. I knew that!”
“It's fine if you didn’t.” It really was, considering she didn’t know their names either.
Or anyone else in Heywood’s class, for that matter.
But luckily for her they still had on name tags from some field trip the botany class went on before lunch.
How convenient.
Teddy P. Frederick and Barker B. Thurman.
She had definitely heard those names in the hallway before. Something about them being gay?
Whatever. Not like Mykie could judge since she wasn’t exactly straight herself. She was bendy.
“Well I’m-”
“You’re Barker and he’s Teddy, right?”
“Oh, you know our names?”
“No, you guys have on name tags.”
“Oh.”
