Chapter Forty-Eight

Zara's POV

Zaid and Hafsa both wake up when breakfast is served on the plane. Neither of them eat much, though, because they don't like plane food either. Zaid tells me that I should eat something, though.

'Zara, try to eat something. You must be hungry, you didn't eat much before either,' he says giving me a small, gentle smile which shows off his dimples. Aww! Every time he smiles, it melts my heart.

"I'm not hungry, I ate crisps before. And me and Hafsa had been munching on sweets, too. You haven't eaten anything either, you should eat something." I return the smile.

He shakes his head. 'I'm not too hungry either, and I don't really like plane food.'

I chuckle. "I don't blame you."

Just then, I hear Hafsa cough from beside me. I look over at her, giving her a small smile.

She frowns at me. 'I'm here too, you know! Both of you lovebirds keep forgetting about me!'

I blush, shaking my head. "How did you sleep?" I ask my best friend.

'Like a baby. I'm still tired, though.'

"We'll be landing in just one and a half hours," Zaid tells us, glancing at the screen in front of his seat.

I nod. 'Well, it's about time. I can't wait to reach,' I say, smiling. I feel so excited at the thought of meeting Mum's side of the family. My favourite aunts, uncles and cousins all live in Pakistan. The ones in England are alright, but I'm not close to them. I'm closer to my cousins in Pakistan, especially two of the girls. I can't wait to meet everyone. It feels like it's been ages since I last visited Pakistan. It's been two and a half years.

I'm even more excited at the thought of living under the same roof as Zaid for two weeks. Sure, I will be living with him after marriage, but I'm looking forward to these two weeks ahead of us. I know that Maryam and Hafsa especially will stop at no ends to tease me and Zaid, but I don't really mind. I love all these feelings I've had since the proposal. Every time I see him, my heart starts to beat a thousand times faster. I start to blush like crazy, even before he says a word to me. His mere presence gives me the best feelings in the world. Excitement, nervousness (but a good kind), happiness, and all the positive feelings in the world.

"Zaraaa!" Hafsa says, groaning.

I look towards her and shoot her a glare. 'Hafsa, don't speak. Please.'

I can feel Zaid laughing from beside me, but I ignore him. "Your best friend is in so much pain, but you don't even care!" She whispers, pouting.

I frown. This girl has absolutely no shame at all. Her brother is sitting right here, but she doesn't shut up. I know she's doing it on purpose.

'I'm in pain too, Hafsa. My head hurts,' I say, sighing.

"Has bhai given you a headache?" She asks, frowning at her brother.

'No, he hasn't. It's the sound of the plane that's making my head hurts,' I reply.

She nods. "I understand. My head was hurting too, earlier. So, Zara, I can't wait for you to come to our home," she says, grinning.

Facepalm.

There she goes again.

I smile at her, nodding slightly. 'I know you can't wait, because I'm the best.'

She smiles, nodding. "You really are. I love you."

I chuckle. 'I love you more, Hafsa.'

She grins, pulling me into a side hug and kissing me on the cheek. "It'll be hilarious after your wedding, when we're living together, and we both give bhai a headache. Don't you agree, bhai? It will be so much fun."

I shake my head, laughing at my best friend.

'It'll be a lot of fun,' Zaid agrees, a small smile playing on his lips.

My cheeks warm up, making the two siblings chuckle.

"Zaid bhai, tell me something. How did you fall for Zara?" Hafsa asks her brother. I glare at her, my mouth falling open in shock.

'Zaid, please ignore her. She's being crazy, as usual,' I mutter, looking at him.

He smiles. 'I don't know, Hafsa. I don't know how I fell for this crazy girl, or when I fell for her. Actually, there's a big chance that it may have been when she spilt the coffee on me.' My heart skips a beat. Or a thousand.

Hafsa chuckles. "Yes, I remember when you returned home that day, and it was so obvious that your leg was hurting you."

I glance at Zaid, frowning slightly. 'I'm sorry,' I whisper.

He gives me a small, happy smile. "Don't apologise, Zara. I'm glad that you spilt the coffee on me. I won't ever forget that day, or the guilty and shocked expression on your face."

I cover my face with my hands, blushing scarlet. 'Please stop talking,' I mutter. Hafsa and Zaid chuckle.

A few seconds later, my best friend speaks up. "I love you more than Zaid bhai does. Okay?"

Oh god.

'Really?' I hear Zaid ask his sister. My blush deepens.

She grins at him, nodding. "Yes!"

"Zaid, Hafsa, please stop! I can't wait to reach Pakistan, and stay away from both of you!" I say, chuckling. My face is blazing red.

They start to laugh again, and I take my phone out of my purse and start listening to music.

Peace at last.

Thankfully, Hafsa and Zaid both start to do their own stuff. Hafsa starts to watch an episode of Gossip Girl which she has saved on Netflix, and Zaid takes his phone out of his pocket to use.

I'm listening to my music in peace, when I feel the left side of my headphones being pulled out of my ear. I glance at Zaid, who has a small smirk playing on his lips.

I give him a questioning look.

He brings his lips close to my ear and whispers, 'You can't stay away from me in Pakistan, Zara. Maybe not so much in front of everyone, because I don't want to embarrass you, but I will find you alone. I can't let you stay away from me for too long, can I?'

My cheeks turn a deeper shade of scarlet, and my heartbeat is going crazy. "You're crazy."

He chuckles, his eyes darting down towards my lips, causing a crazy weird sensation in the pit of my stomach. It's definitely a good sensation, though. He brings his lips close to my ear again. 'Make sure you have your own bedroom, okay? Don't share with anyone. Not even Hafsa.'

My eyes widen in shock, and I don't know what to say in reply to that. "W-why?" I finally stutter, after several seconds. I bite my lip, nervously.

His gaze drops towards my lips again, and I see that his eyes have darkened slightly. 'Because I need you to stay alone. I don't want anyone to disturb us when I come to meet you.'

What?!

"You're not coming to my room to meet me," I stutter, my cheeks bright red.

He smirks. 'Just make sure you have your own room.'

I frown, shaking my head. "I'm sharing with Hafsa. Or Mum," I whisper to him.

He shakes his head. 'No. You're not. Although, even if you were sharing with Aunty, it wouldn't stop me from coming to you.'

My face warms up even more. "You're crazy."

He chuckles. 'Only for you, baby.'

God help me.

*******

We land at Islamabad International Airport at 5:10am. As we travelled in business class, we are among the first to get off the plane. As soon as we walk down the stairs of the plane and towards the coaches which will take us to the arrivals section of the airport, I'm shocked when I'm met with the Pakistan heat. Even at such an early time in the morning, it's really warm. I mean, the weather right now is quite nice, but I can tell that it will be extremely hot during the day. I've missed Pakistan, though.

A coach takes us to the arrivals section of the airport. We hurry in and get our passports checked, and then move through to baggage claim. All of our luggage arrives quickly, except for one suitcase which is mine. It takes us nearly a whole hour until my suitcase arrives.

When we walk out of the airport, I'm shocked but so so happy to see that many of my relatives have come to collect us. My aunts, uncles, and several cousins too. I'm so excited to reach my Nani's house. These next two weeks are gonna be so much fun, I can already tell!

Everyone is ecstatic to see us, especially me as I am the soon-to-be bride. They all greet us with hugs, and then we head off for Nani's home. I sit in my Uncle's car (Mum's youngest brother), he's probably my favourite out of all my uncles as he's so much fun. He always teases me and Maryam, and this time I will get teased by everyone more than usual! Maryam and Hafsa are sitting with me in Uncle Muhammad's car. The others are sitting in my other Uncle's car and my cousin (Ali's) car.

We reach my Nani's home half an hour later. All our relatives are there to greet us. Everyone here is so lucky, as they live so close to one another. They're all extremely happy to meet us, especially my grandparents! I, too, am so so happy to see everyone after so long! I missed them like crazy, especially my cousins.

We all sit in the living room, talking excitedly. It's crazy how many people are here and excited to see us, and I love all of these people so much.

'So, Zara! You're getting married! We're so happy for you, sis!' My cousin, Ali, says, smiling.

I chuckle. "Yep, I am, and thanks so much, Ali!" I don't call him bhai because he's only a couple of years older than me. He's always been like a brother to me, and his two brothers, too. Actually, all of my cousins here are like my sisters and brothers. They're all amazing.

'Yes, we're so happy and guess what, Zara? We are all coming for the wedding!' Another of my cousins, Arslan, says, grinning.

I'm shocked. More than shocked. "What?! Seriously? You're all coming for the wedding? How?! Doesn't it take forever for visas to happen? But that's so good, you guys are amazing!" I say, grinning with so much happiness.

Ali speaks again. "Zara, we got the visas sorted about a month ago! We just didn't tell you, because we wanted to surprise you!"

'A..month ago?' I ask, frowning. I look towards my parents, who are trying not to laugh.

He nods. "Yes, a month ago! Over a month ago, actually! How do you like our surprise?"

'Well, I'm very surprised! I mean, how did you get your visas a month ago? I got engaged three weeks ago,' I say, my cheeks reddening.

Uncle Muhammad chuckles. "Well, Zara, let's just say that we were in on a small secret! From Zaid!"

Everyone knew about the proposal, and also about the wedding dates, before it actually happened. That means..Zaid was hopeful that I would say yes. My cheeks turn scarlet as I see my dear fiancé smirk at me.

'Zara, we're gonna have so much fun on your wedding!' My cousin, Sana, says, grinning.

I chuckle. "I'm so happy that you're all coming to the wedding, honestly, it was the best surprise! Thank you so much!" I say to everyone, grinning.

We all talk for another half an hour or so, and eat breakfast too. I chuckle when I look in the corner of the living room and see all my female cousins (Sana, Habiba, Maria, Shoaa, Sara) talking excitedly with Maryam and Hafsa. They've become close already.

Zaid is talking to my Uncles, Ali, Arslan and Waleed (another cousin).

I yawn.

'You all must be so tired after the flight, you should rest for some time,' Nani says, smiling, before pressing a gentle kiss to my forehead.

"I'm so excited to see everyone after so long, but I think I need to rest for a couple of hours. Nani, where are we sleeping?" I ask, with a smile on my face.

She shows us where our rooms are. My room is upstairs, in between Zaid's and Hafsa's. Great. The two people I told I'm going to stay away from on the plane, those are the two people my room is between! I don't really mind, though.

Our parents will be staying downstairs, and Maryam's room is opposite mine. Zaid smirks at me when he sees that we each have our separate rooms, and that his is right next to mine. I blush, looking away from him and remembering what he said to me on the plane.

'Make yourselves at home, please! If you need anything at all, then please ask,' Nani says cheerfully.

"Thank you so much, Nani. This is all amazing," Zaid says, smiling. Just the sound of his voice makes my face warm up. I'm going to go crazy here with him for two whole weeks!

Nani kisses him gently on the forehead, she loves him already. To be honest, everyone does. I don't blame them at all, because I love him more than anyone does.

'I'm so happy that you're staying with us, beta. You're more handsome in person than you are in your amazing pictures,' she says, laughing and winking at me. I blush.

"Thank you so much, Nani," he replies, grinning. Looks like his already huge ego will inflate even more here.

We all go to our rooms and settle in. I love my room! It's beautiful, with a huge king sized bed, matching gold curtains and carpet, beige dressing table and cupboard. Each of the bedrooms have an en suite bathroom, which is great.

I'll unpack my things later, right now I need to sleep. I didn't feel this exhausted when I was downstairs, because I was so excited to meet everyone. I jump into the warm, comfy bed after turning on the air conditioning. Within minutes, I'm fast asleep.

********

Zaid's POV

I sleep for a couple of hours, before changing into a black t-shirt and blue jeans, and head downstairs. I've come to Pakistan after several years, and I already love it. Zara's relatives are all so loving and welcoming, and they're so excited for our wedding. They're all lovely, especially her uncles and grandparents.

I go to the living room, and see that my parents and Hafsa are awake. Zara's parents are awake, too. They're all sitting and talking to her cousins and aunts. I join them.

Around fifteen minutes later, Zara walks into the living room, yawning and stretching. I chuckle. She looks absolutely beautiful. She's wearing a small amount of makeup, and her hair is open in loose waves. She's stunning. I'm a very lucky man.

Zara's eyes light up after seeing someone. Her baby niece. Her cousin Habiba's daughter, Fatima. Zara runs over to us, grinning.

'Fatima! My cutie! Aww, Habiba, she's so gorgeous! Come here, sweetie!' Zara takes a seat on the sofa opposite mine and holds out her arms for her niece, who comes running to her.

"Aunty Zaawa!" The two-year old says excitedly, jumping into Zara's lap. I laugh as Zara attacks her with kisses.

'My baby! You're so beautiful!' Zara says, smiling and pulling Fatima's cheeks gently.

"You're pwetty!" Fatima says, grinning at Zara.

'Not as pretty as you, baby!' Zara replies, not taking her eyes off her adorable niece. Everyone is smiling at their encounter. Zara is so cute and so amazing with kids, it makes me feel really happy.

Zara asks Habiba how old her daughter is, she's exactly two and a half years old.

"Uncle Zaid is nice!" Fatima says, staring at me in the cutest way ever.

I chuckle. 'Come here, Fatima,' I say gently. I'm surprised when she jumps into my lap. I smile as Zara starts to blush again.

"How old are you, baby?" I ask the little girl, smiling.

'I'm two!' She replies, giving me an adorable, toothy grin.

I chuckle. "Oh, wow! You're two? That's nice!"

She nods. 'I will be thwee soon!'

I grin, kissing her on her forehead. "You'll be a big girl soon!"

She nods, her eyes wide and innocent. 'You're a Prince!'

I chuckle at that. "And you're a princess, baby!"

She shakes her head. 'Aunty Zaawa is a princess!'

Zara hears that, and laughs. I grin. "She is," I whisper, not taking my eyes off Zara. She's now started talking to Hafsa and her cousins.

'Fatima? Will you do something for me, baby girl?' I ask her, grinning widely.

She nods, her silky brown hair bouncing in curls. "Go to Zara, and give her this from me. Tell her it's from me, okay? Whisper it to her," I whisper to the beautiful little girl, kissing her on her forehead.

Fatima starts laughing innocently, and nods. 'Okay! Aunty Zaawa!' She jumps out of my lap and runs to Zara, who catches her and places her on her lap, smiling at her.

"Yes, sweetie?" Zara asks, her full attention on her beautiful niece.

Fatima gestures at her to place her face closer to hers. I smirk.

Zara's POV

'Uncle Zaid wanted me to give you something!' My little cutie whispers in my ear.

"Oh, really? What did he want to give me?" I ask, smiling.

The little girl kisses me gently on my cheek, and then grins at me. 'This!'

I blush hard, my cheeks as red as Fatima's dress. I glance over at Zaid, who winks at me. I quickly look around and breathe a sigh of relief when I realise that no one is looking. Zaid is crazy!

"Baby, will you go and tell Zaid uncle that I also need to give him something? Go and pull his hair, okay?" I say to my niece, grinning.

She nods, jumping out of my lap and running to Zaid. Zaid picks her up in his strong arms, smiling widely.

'Uncle? Zaawa Aunty wants to give you something too!' She says, but it's only loud enough so that Habiba and Hafsa hear, as they're sitting closest to us.

"Really, baby? And what's that?" Zaid grins at Fatima, making my heart soar.

'This!' She pulls Zaid's hair, and then grins at him. Zaid chuckles, holding Fatima in his arms and grinning at me.

I can't help but smile at how he's holding her, like she is his own niece. She loves him already, and he loves her too. He is now in deep conversation with her, about Barbie dolls. I chuckle.

Zaid will be the best father one day, there's no doubt about that. He's great with children.

I smile, seeing him kiss Fatima gently on her forehead. She snuggles into him, and a few minutes later, she's fast asleep.

********

Lunch is amazing. We all eat together that afternoon, and everything is so delicious. Nani and my aunts have prepared many dishes, which include biryani, butter chicken, vegetable curry, daal, korma, tandoori chicken, pakoras, Chinese rolls and much, much more. I'm absolutely full by the time we're done with lunch.

'Nani, I can't eat more! I'm absolutely full, and I'm gonna get fat! I won't fit into my wedding dress!' I joke, smiling at her.

She shakes her head. "Zara, you're beautiful, and you're perfect. You won't get fat even if you tried to! Did you like the food?"

I nod. 'It was all delicious!'

After lunch, everyone sits and talks, planning our wedding. It makes me so happy to see how excited everyone is for the wedding. I'm absolutely loving it in Pakistan so far, and I can tell that Zaid is also enjoying himself. I'm glad that he's taken a break from work. He's always so busy with his work, he deserves a break.

'Zara, let's go shopping tonight,' Sana says to me, smiling.

I chuckle. "Already?!"

She nods. 'There isn't much time left for your wedding at all! We need to go shopping everyday!'

I smile, nodding. "Maybe, but it's so hot here!" I say, laughing.

'The weather will be nice in the evening, you'll see,' she replies, smiling at me.

********

We don't go shopping that evening, but we do go out for ice cream. Me, Maryam, Hafsa and Zaid go with all my cousins. No parents and adults are allowed to go. We tell them all to enjoy on their own, without us. We go after dinner, at 9pm.

I sit in Ali's car, with Zaid, Habiba and Sana. Hafsa and Maryam are in Arslan's car. It's so much fun, because we listen to loud music on the way. By loud, I mean extremely loud. All my favourite Bollywood songs are played.

The songs are very romantic, and I can't stop blushing every time I see Zaid glance at me through the front mirror. These two weeks are going to be very memorable, that's for sure. And very exciting, too.

We reach the ice cream parlour twenty minutes later. We wait for the others to arrive, before ordering. I order cookie dough, of course, as it is my absolute favourite ice cream flavour. Zaid orders vanilla, Hafsa orders cookies and cream, Maryam orders strawberry. Nearly everyone orders different flavours.

Guess who else has come with us? Fatima! She's sitting in my lap, and I'm sitting next to her mum.

'I want some ice cream, Aunty Zaawa!' She says, looking innocently at me with wide eyes.

How can I say no to that?! I pull her cheeks gently, making her giggle. "Okay, I'll give you some ice cream but only today, okay? We don't want you getting ill, do we? Give me a kiss, then I'll give you ice cream."

Everyone starts to chuckle at that. I can feel Zaid's eyes on me, but I don't look away from my beautiful niece. She grins and kisses me on both my cheeks. I return the kisses, before feeding her some of my ice cream.

"Do you like it?" I ask her, smiling.

She nods. 'Yes! It's yummy!'

I chuckle, my smile not leaving my lips. I love it so much here in Pakistan, I had missed everyone so much. It's gonna be difficult going back, but I'm extremely happy about the fact that everyone will be coming for my wedding.

"Aunty?" Fatima asks, looking up at me. Her chubby cheeks and big brown eyes are so cute.

'Yes, sweetie?' I tuck a strand of hair behind her ear.

"You're going to be a princess? You will marry Uncle Zaid?" She asks, innocently.

My cheeks heat up, and I bite my lip, chuckling slightly. She's so innocent. 'Who told you, baby?' I ask her, smiling.

"Everyone! Mummy, daddy, Aunty Hafsa, Uncle Zaid, Nani!" She grins up at me.

I chuckle. 'Yes, baby, I will. And you're coming to my wedding!'

"You're a princess!" She suddenly says.

I laugh. 'Really? That's sweet of you! But you're the princess, Fatima! Not me!'

She shakes her head violently, her curls bouncing. "You're pwetty! And so is Uncle Zaid! He's a prince!"

I laugh, my cheeks reddening slightly. 'Thank you, beautiful!'

I kiss my niece gently on the top of her head, which she returns. She's the cutest, I love her so much!

********

We return home half an hour later, and by the time we reach, it's over 11:30pm. I'm actually feeling quite tired, too, so I quickly greet my parents and all the adults, and head upstairs to my room.

I get into bed, and I'm in dreamland within seconds.
