This one I came up with myself, set after Hugo's betrayal.

He was ready to go. He just had one more thing to do. Varian got up and went to find Rapunzel. Everyone who wanted to could send letters to Cass through her. When he found Raps, he asked to talk to her. "Raps, this is going to be my last letter to Cassandra. I'm not going to send anyone letters while I'm gone, and I expect no one to send letters to me. I won't send letters unless I really need to talk with someone. Ok? So don't bombarde me with letters," he said, and giggled a bit at the end. Rapunzel agreed to this. She didn't want to disrespect his wishes. After that, he left.

Varian remembered this, all alone in his tent, crying. He felt this sort of... emptiness inside him. He missed Hugo, even when he felt he shouldn't. Hugo was a traitor, he manipulated him and... ugh, why did he think Hugo was great? He knew rapunzel had to have gone through this. She had been betrayed twice! Maybe she could help him?

He grabbed a piece of paper and started writing.

Dear Rapunzel,

I know I said I didn't want letters when I left, but I feel I need this. I have- had- a friend who recently left, I don't want to get into the details, but I really miss him. I miss him a lot, even though I think I shouldn't.

He called for Ruddiger, who rushed over immediately. He asked him to find Cassandra and ask owl to send the letter. He did as he was asked and ran into the forest with the letter in his mouth.

Later that day, Yong went up to him. "Varian? Where's ruddiger?"

"He went to send a letter. Why?" He replied, curious.

"I couldn't find him. I thought you didn't write letters," Yong said.

"Well, this was a one-time thing, ok?"

"Ok!" Yong ran over to Nuru, who was teaching him about the constellations, and building binoculars for Yong so they could stargaze together.

At night, when the others were stargazing, Varian went inside his tent to find owl on his bed, with Ruddiger. And a note. He sat down, and Ruddiger crawled onto his lap. He grabbed the note from Owl's claws, and Owl flew to his table. Varian opened the note. It was from Raps.

Dear Varian,

You are like a little brother to me. You can always talk to me, and if you want privacy with this, I respect that, although I am curious. Maybe when you get back you can tell me? If you're ready of course. From what you have told me, I would guess this friend of yours betrayed you. It sounds like you two were close, reminding me of Cass. You should know, whatever happens, I'll be there.

Varian smiled. Rapunzel was so sweet. He wrote a quick thank you note on the back, and gave it back to owl.
