Harry Potter - (mild) Cassarian

Varian had just escaped prison. He was running away from 20 guards, all with the same orders. 'Catch him'. He didn't go through the city, obviously. Way too open, and he could get caught in 5 seconds. Instead, he ran through the underground tunnels, which were more like a maze that he and Rapunzel had figured out. He reached the end, with a ladder, and climbed out. He was in the forest. Still inside corona, but the good news was it was easier to lose guards here.

He darted through the trees until he reached the wall. Ran around it until he found the exit. He darted in. 2 guards were still on his tail. He managed to shake them for a second, just long enough to find an abandoned cabin for a bit of shelter. He went inside. It felt way homier on the inside then the outside. Heck, on the inside it even looked like someone lived there!

"Hello? Is anyone here?" He said. He walked through the cabin. It looked like someone had just been there. Then, he noticed the fireplace. The fire wasn't full of warm colors like red and orange, but instead a bright green. "What the-" he was cut off by some girl appearing in the fireplace. She stepped out, allowing him to get a good look at her. She had bushy brown hair and  tanned skin. Her eyes were brown, and she wore a long robe, mainly black, but with Redon the inside and a crest on her chest, above her heart.

"Huh. Harry did find a nice place. Or he just used a bunch of spells to neaten up the place, but still, I like it. Where am I anyways?" She asked.

"Excuse me? Who are you?" Varian asked. He had to know what was going on here.

"AH!" She shrieked. Varian did the same. "Oh. My. God. I am so sorry! I didn't realize anyone would be here!"

"Um... hi. How did you just... walk out of a fireplace?" Varian said. That wasn't possible! She would have burnt up!

She paused. "You're a muggle..." she said. Varian had no idea what that meant. She explained to him that it meant a non-magic person. "Why are you not shocked? Usually muggles are shocked when they find out about magic."

"I've seen my fair share of magic," he said, rubbing his neck. He thought back to when he almost crushed rapunzel, but was stopped before he could. Stopped by magic. The rocks. He had almost killed his friend. He didn't want to admit it, but he regretted everything he had done.

"You've met a witch or wizard who shared magic with you?" She asked.

"What? No, I have a- I know someone who is the living embodiment of the sun, with 70 feet of indestructible hair," he said. This shocked the girl. Had she never heard of the sun drop?

"How does- how does that even work?!" She said.

"Well, the queen was pregnant, she got deadly sick, study had heard of a flower called the sun drop which had magic healing powers, which was grown from the sun's magic coming to earth, they used that on the queen, baby rapunzel was born with the powers of the sun drop, she was stolen by an old lady who wanted her powers for herself, raps came back and became the lost princess," he explained. Literally rapunzel's life story without the part with Varian.

"That sounds like a movie I once saw. It was called 'Tangled', but at the end she had the most dramatic haircut ever," she said. "I'm Hermione, by the way."

"Varian. And what's a movie?" She was dumbfounded. A muggle who has never seen a movie?  Where was she?!

"It's a moving picture that talks, but never to you. They aren't aware you're watching them, and they just do the same thing each time you see them," Hermione explained. "Where am I?" She asked.

"You're just outside of the walls of Corona. I was sort of being chased by enemies, and came in here for shelter," Varian said. She looked shocked.

"FLU POWDER CAN TRAVEL ACROSS UNIVERSES?!" She shouted. "Corona is the name of the kingdom from tangled, meaning... I somehow got into the tangled universe?!"

"YOU'RE FROM ANOTHER UNIVERSE?!" Varian shouted. She nodded. He had to going crazy, HE HAD TO BE!!!

"Yes, I apparently am. You said you were running from someone?"

"Yes?"

"Well, who are they?"

"Um. People who were keeping me prisoner."

"Hm... Hogwarts should be a safe place, if you wanted to come with me."

"Y-you would let me?!"

"Sure, if you want."

"Another universe!? Of course I would want to come with you, that sounds awesome!"

"Well come with me then!" They walked into the fireplace and she said "Gryffindor Common Room!" And threw down some ashes.

A second later they were in a large room. There was a red carpet on the floor, several couches and 2 staircases. Varian stared at her. "How did you do that?"

"Flu powder. It's magic." He mouthed an 'oh' to show he understood. They walked out of the fireplace, and into the room. She told him to sit down, and he did so. This room was beautiful. It was tall, had stone walls, and large tapestries.

"Who's this?" A voice said.

"Nearly headless nick! Hi! I'm back!" Hermione said to someone whine Varian. He turned his head and saw a see-through man right behind him. "Oh, this is Varian! Varian, this is nearly headless nick, the gryffindor ghost."

"Ghost? Why did you call him 'nearly headless'?" Varian asked. He had so many questions.

"Well, he almost got beheaded, but his head still hangs on from a tiny flap of skin," she explained. Nick pulled off his head as if it was on a hinge. Then he put it back on. "Come with me, Varian. I know it's against the rules to be out at night, but we're going to see the headmaster. That's within the rules. Yes I read the entire rule book and know it by heart." They walked outside and found a large griffin statue. "Lemon tart," she said. The statue turned, revealing a staircase. They both walked down to a door.

Hermione knocked, and from inside, they heard an old man call, "Who's there?"

"Hermione, Professor."

"Hermione, Professor, who?" The man chuckled. "Come on in, Hermione." She walked in and told Varian to wait outside.

She walked inside, and started talking to him. "Professor Dumbledore, Harry and Ron were playing a game in the common room with flu powder, to go to random places, and on Harry's turn, he said he found a nice cabin out in the woods. I didn't believe him, because on the other turns, he always found places falling apart. So, he dared me to go. I did, and it was a nice place. But there was something I didn't expect." She continued explaining what had happened between her and Varian.

"So... you met a muggle who knew about magic from another universe, and he was being chased, so you want to keep him safe here?" Hermione nodded. "I can enroll him, but we need to take a test. We must see if he has magical capabilities. If he doesn't, we can get him a place in Hogsmeade. If he does, he's welcome to stay here. May I meet the boy?" Hermione nodded and called Varian in.

"Varian, This is Professor Dumbledore, the headmaster." Varian waved, Dumbledore brought over a chair, and told him to sit down.

"You're  Varian, yes?" Varian nodded. "We're going to do a test to see if you have magical capabilities, and if so, we're going to enroll you. If not, we will find somewhere in Hogsmeade for you to stay."

After the test, it turned out he could perform magic. They decided they would hold a sorting ceremony tomorrow night, and Varian would stay with Dumbledore until then. Hermione left to the common room, and Dumbledore set up a sleeping bag for Varian. He was surprised by all this attention, usually when people paid attention to him it was out of fear and anger. These people were kind though, and he really liked it here so far. Dumbledore told him all about the houses, and how everything worked here. Even the paintings joined in. He wondered which one he would be in.

The next night, everyone filed into the great hall and sat down at the tables. They had already eaten dinner, and then were called back in. No one knew why. Except the teachers, and Hermione.

"Hermione? Do you know why we're back here?" Harry asked. He had no clue. Hermione just giggled.

"Seriously! We already ate!" Ron said. Hermione pointed at the teachers' table. "Why did they bring out the sorting hat?"

"Is there a new student Hermione?" She nodded.

Dumbledore commanded the hall, which was buzzing with excitement, everyone guessing what they thought would happen, to be silent. "This is very unusual, but, a new student has been accepted into Hogwarts." The hall burst into noise, confusion everywhere. "SILENCE! He is being sorted tonight, and I would like everyone to help him feel at home. Come on out." Varian walked out from behind the table and next to Dumbledore. "This is Varian Ruddiger. He's a German transfer student, and I would like you all to be respectful. We will sort him now." Varian sat down on the stool, and the sorting hat was placed on him.

It was quiet for a few moments. Aside from the occasional whisper, it was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Then suddenly, "RAVENCLAW!" was shouted from the hat.

The ravenclaw table cheered first, then the others joined in. Varian's robes with the Hogwarts crest changed to ravenclaw. He walked over to the ravenclaw table, and sat down between two girls. One of them had bright blonde hair, almost white, and the other had very dark hair. The blonde girl was wearing earrings shaped like mushrooms, with little orange triangles underneath.

"Hello!" The blonde girl said. "I'm Luna. Nice to meet you!"

"Nice to meet you too, Luna." Someone tapped on his shoulder.

"I'm Cho. Your name was Varian, right?" The black-haired girl said. He nodded. "Nice to meet you. What do you like to do for fun?"

"I... well this is still kind of new to me... I used to live in Germany, and I just recently found out about magic. I used to only believe in science, and did not believe magic ever existed. So I  used to spend all night doing chemistry," Varian explained. He had talked to Dumbledore last night and they figured out which aspects of his life to change a bit, to make him fit in more.

"Well, both science and magic exist, magic is just what science can't explain. So you can still enjoy science while being a witch or wizard," Luna explained. "Oh! Do you want to be friends?" Varian nodded. She seemed nice. And so did Cho.

"Do you want to be friends with me too?" Cho asked. Varian nodded again.

That night, Varian was in his dorm. He liked it here, but for some reason all he could think about was Cassandra.  He was pretty sure she hated him. He still had a crush on her, and regretted everything that happened. He almost killed his crush! He would never forgive himself. He wondered how she would react to his escape. He wondered what she was doing at that moment. Is she ok? Is she having fun? How is she? Eventually the questions stopped and he fell into a blissfully dreamless sleep.
