This contest was really fun to participate in. These two book series are ones I'm familiar with and grew up reading and watching so it was definitely fun to work on fanfic graphics based on the two protagonists. I don't usually do fanfics-this is my first time-but I have to say it was way more fun than I initially anticipated. The titles provided by the host were interesting and broad enough to spark many different ideas for the design.

The first entry was one I'd completed a few days ago, but I was stuck between two designs; one having a blue background for the top half of the design and the other having a golden honey colour which resembled the desert at the bottom. I tend to go for a colour scheme based one core colour which provides a base for different hues (I may sometimes stretch it out to two colours, if necessary). This because I'm a firm adherent of coherency and the only way to achieve that, in my opinion, is to keep within a specific colour range. Hence, this decision was a hard one to make. After much pondering, I decided to just go with a transition from golden honey (desert) to blue (buildings/sky), because they are complimentary colours and it creates more dimension within the design. Moreover, I also used the Hunger Games font, which I think worked out pretty well against the background. Though, one thing I could probably work on is lowering the saturation a bit and making the gradient smoother. Another thing I had trouble with was lowering the saturation of the characters. The pictures were way too warm to begin with, so I tried my best to reduce the saturation to a more moderate level.

The second entry took me less time to make. I kind of already knew what I wanted to make and the search for pictures didn't take me as long as the first entry. Out of the two, I feel like this may be my favourite. Though my initial idea was to have a "fire" theme to complement the title, I decided instead to capture a more realistic take on Katniss being a maze runner, using the colours green and blue. I was pretty happy with the transition between the maze at the top and the other characters running through the maze at the bottom. I tried to align them so the transition did not appear abrupt, instead flowing seamlessly from top to bottom.

Overall, I enjoyed working on the covers. As usual, thanks for hosting a great contest Miss_Sarcastic27. I hope you like them!
