For this contest, I kind of half-assed it tbh because I was super busy and the prompt wasn't that inspiring. I initially struggled to come up with the concept of my graphic, because I didn't have a clear direction or focus for the banner; I was given free rein to produce whatever I pleased as long as it had the theme of Christmas. Now y'all already know I'm Muslim, so I don't celebrate Christmas, which is why I found this particular prompt challenging. So, to relate this to myself, I thought of my favourite genre, Mystery-specifically, Murder Mysteries. There are tons of Christmas crime novels, like The Mistletoe Murder by P.D James, Murder for Christmas by Francis Duncan, etc. Hence, I thought that this would be perfect for this banner.

Out of the provided face claims, I chose Elle Fanning. The image I found was just the perfect fit for the theme I was going for. I didn't do a lot of touching up seeing as the image was already in great quality. Instead, I focused mostly on the background this time. Blending was vital to achieving the transition between the two settings. As well as that, I did focus on the lighting, this was especially important for the cabin. I added some glow to make the light source brighter and popping against the blue background. I also added some red to create contrast in the graphic, as seen by the red ribbon in the top right. My intention with adding that was to strengthen the Christmas theme. The red ribbon usually symbolises the joyous festivities of Christmas aka presents (what everyone's always looking forward to lol). Hence, in this situation, the gift that was delivered to the people occupying the cabin was the death of their beloved by a malicious presence lurking nearby. Maybe the MC was murdered? Or maybe she is the murderer? Who knows.

For the text, I was honestly just playing around with the placement since I struggle a lot with that. I'm trying to be more creative, so I felt like I needed to try out something new. I feel like the placement is actually quite nice. It fits well with the other elements in the banner. I moved the R in front of the cabin because I felt the whole title was not so visible, so I think moving that specific letter forward made a big difference for sure. Coming up with the title was the best part of the whole process. I did play on the words to again give it just that lil extra Christmasy feeling.

Quite simply, I think the banner turned out quite decent. I don't usually do banners at all, so this was a refreshing challenge to take on. Sorry for taking too long! I'm usually a slow coach, something I really need to work on lol.
