Hey Nerdy

Aaron

I got to hear about Hermia's friend, Sally, the one with her the other day I came to her house.

Probably after whatever happened that day afterall she never talked to Hermia again. And  I wasn't sure of that which really bothered me.

Alright,  she lied about us being neighbours or maybe hid the fact but I also understood she doesn't like me a bit so she never mentioned me to her friend.

Anyway, it was a near shock to see Sally's name in the papers. She's been accused of murdering her own brother and that too with all evidences against her.

I'm still trying to remember though if she looked like someone who could kill. Definitely she wasn't, from the times I've known her but everyone else say otherwise.

I couldn't help wondering what Hermia must be thinking. Or going through.

Sally has been the only person I've seen around her anyway so of course she would be as confused and shocked as I am about the issue.

Today was a Monday and I hoped to at least see her when she would go to school. Maybe I should talk to her. But really I don't know how.

She's always been giving me the cold shoulder, showing me she doesn't like me a bit for at least a friend. She's always trying to stay away from me no matter how much I show I care.

I had waited to see her in the freezing October morning, by the pole that separates our houses. I'd never do that for a lady anyway. I didn't still get why I am, despite knowing her predictable reaction.

After what felt like hours, she showed up. And she wasn't looking anything happy.

"Yes mom!" she yelled into her cellphone before hanging up and tossing it into her backpack while fiddling with the door's lock.

Her brunette  shoulder length hair didn't look like something a comb touched at all. She was still looking cute despite her zero makeup but it was evident from her under eye bags that she didn't have a good night's sleep. Her choice of clothing was plain dull— baggy black striped white pants  and a white Jersey with the writings I DON'T GIVE A DAMN.

I was about to stride towards her when I paused. Right,  she didn't give a damn (whoever I was).

I just watched as she jogged down the sideways, not watching her steps.  She slipped into her car,  flinging her backpack in after her.

I sighed and stared as the car roared to life. My waiting was pointless.

I took the chance to wait for Noah to finish dressing up and meet me at the front porch. He quite likes dressing up like a cliché as he says. All the charms to get ladies and that's it.

His lifestyle is really different from mine despite being a twin. And that has always been from our childhood. He liked the usual popular and lavish lifestyle while I loved the simple and comfortable one.

Maybe that's why we don't really get along these days.

"Hurry up Noah! " I yelled when I couldn't wait any longer. I hate being late on Mondays, I just remembered.

Ever heard that the trend on a Monday morning usually repeats itself so technically if I'm late today, I will be for the rest of the week. Which is what I detest.

I love being the good guy.

"Coming! Just a few more seconds. " he replied, seeming to be already at the door.

I rolled my eyes. If only Noah hadn't got his own car stolen then probably we wouldn't be in this situation.

Whenever he was going to a party, I had to follow him because I wasn't going to just trust him with my vehicle. He's super carefree with things.

The last time he insisted on going to Daniel's party,  I was forced to go as well while I had to study for my Maths test the following day. I thought it was a bad decision until I met Hermia there.

Finally, the door flung open,  revealing a disorderly Noah. His hair was tousled, neck tie hanging around his neck, untied. His shirt was halfway buttoned and thank God, no problem with the pants.

My eyes swiveled back up and I raised my left brow at him in question.

"Got caught up with something. "

I rolled my eyes. "The something had to be a lady anyway. Just get here already. "

A huge grin on his face, he replied playfully placing  both hands on his hips as he narrowed his eyes at me. "Don't you dare scold me. "

"Get here or bid bye to the free ride. " I said.  I was serious.

His grin fell immediately. "Arsehole. "

It was already noon and school hours had ended. Courtney suggested we hung out so we all agreed. Besides I was already stressed with school so hanging out was a good idea.

Tyler couldn't make it as his parents had him grounded after he spent a whole night at a club two weeks ago. Defiant to their 10 o'clock curfew. I could imagine the horror his parents passed through.

"Poor guy. "Courtney mocked while we had a good time at a diner without him. And later on, we were at the theatre to watch Spider Man: No Way Home.

All of us were a great fan of Spider Man and we definitely loved the new actor, Tom Holland.

The next movie was The Mummy 4.
I still wanted to watch The Mummy Series  though but it was already evening.

We all called it quit and bade our byes.

Thank God Noah had no parties so I could catch up on my History. I was initially good in the subject despite I missed a few lessons when I didn't attend day school. (Noah and I had been homeschooled up till high school after we left dad.)

But we had a lot to do at school.

Honestly,  I wasn't really a big fan of the subject but it was compulsory. Sometimes I wished I could skip the class because I've practically known what was taught but being a good boy had its few disadvantages and this was one of it.

Nevertheless, my mood was better by the time we got home.

"Ah, I'm just going to take a nap. " Noah yawned annoyingly after eating one of the apples in the fruit bowl on the dining.

I rolled my eyes. "Great. Enjoy your sleeeeep" I murmured back, climbing the stairs after him.

I was secretly glad he wouldn't be there to start irrelevant talks like those he says about what type of ladies he has met or what I needed to know about ladies which always ended with an argument. (I always chased him out of my room and later on we would laugh about it)

Honestly the thought of having a girlfriend never crossed my mind even  if I liked a girl.

After whatever happened with my mother,  I always had the phobia I'm going to hurt the girl I loved whether it was unintentional or not.

Well, not until recently I'm starting to doubt that decision.

I was now laying on the bed, trying to relax for a while to gain energy for a whole night studying. Since it's just six in the evening, I was not really worried.

My phone made a notification sound from inside my pants back pocket. It didn't even occur to me I should check my messages because I had few people in my life.

After a few minutes thinking about those precious childhood memories, I lazily stood up and dragged my feet to the balcony to see the beautiful night sky before going to the study room to read.

Something in particular caught my eye as I drew the curtains apart.

Hermia's window was widely open and her curtains were apart. I could clearly see what was going on in the room.

"She's probably there? " I muttered.

That was when I actually thought about her. What she looked like this morning.

My chest tightened.

I hope she's fine.

She doesn't seem to be in the room so I had the opportunity to explore whatever it was in her room. (I know I'm not supposed to be doing this but I just couldn't stop myself.)

I spotted a table and a chair, probably a study, right by the right corner from my perspective and a couple of clothes were lying on the floor.

I laughed.

What made me laugh wasn't the clothes but to see how messed up her bed was and coupled with that was what looked like snack packets littered on it.

I wanted to continue my mini-adventure when my phone made a notification sound again.

This time I felt I should probably see if it's something important.

Two messages stared right back at me.

Unknown Number:

Hey Nerdy.

06:20 pm

Unknown Number:

Draw your curtains.

It then dawned on me who had sent the messages.
