Introvert and Cheerful

"Did I tell you that Jan asked me out to a date yesterday? "

"Yeah you did. " Hermia simply replied.

I wasn't a bit satisfied with her reply. Is she still mad at me for earlier?

"And about the stuffs that happened? Oh I might've forgot to mention about his sister, Bella coming up abruptly and ruining it. You know what she said?"

Hermia glanced at me "What? " she asked while chewing her food.

"She told him I'm lgbt with you. I mean gross! We're super close but. . ."

A thought suddenly flashed my mind. "Are you? "

"What?" she asked with a shrug and I squinted my eyes at her.

"LGBT! " I whisper yelled. Then looked at her very well. "Oh my God, you like girls? Ah! That's why you don't get boyfriends! "

Hermia rolled her eyes and glared at me while the food was half chewed. Her stare made me imagine I grew two heads in an instant that irritates her.

"Why'd you say that? You're nuts? "

"Oh,  then." I sighed,  a bit relieved. "Get a freaking boyfriend, you know? I hate being the only one to tell you stuffs. It sulks. "

"I can't change who I am for any guy. " she simply shrugged.

I groan. "Who's talking about changing? Don't you ever have a crush on a guy? "

She paused then shrugged again. "Are we really discussing this? "

I leaned in. "Answer me first. "

It was her turn to groan. "I stop myself before falling too hard because I have zero hopes on guys. The heartache of love is another thing. " she said so fast if I hadn't leaned in I wouldn't have heard.

I understood what she meant. She had been raised up in a dysfunctional family. Her mom had been pregnant at a young age then she had to move in with her relatively young father who couldn't cope. Though,  he stayed with her four ten years but he eventually left when he fell in love.

Since I knew Hermia,  she always had been tough,  hiding the true sentimental girl. She had always been afraid to fall in love,  I know,  because she didn't want a highschool love story like her mother's.

But, I wanted her to see beyond her family and the outside world. Her mother made a mistake and so she ended being a single unhappy mother but Hermia has her whole life ahead of her and can't just waste it living the shadow of someone else's life.

"Hermia. I'm tired of all the rumours and everything. That silly Bella confronted me  that I'm being lesbians with you and it's gross.  Why don't you also  get a boyfriend? At least maybe you'd see that all these is wrong. You're restricting yourself because of your mom's mistake. "

She was silent. "I know. I know I might fall in love one day but please not yet. Not now. "

I sigh. "Why not now? I mean,  you just need to get out of this whole tomboy attitude and you see,  you'll seem more of a girl. "

"First I don't care. And I don't need a boy in my life okay? "

"Then who's the guy I saw you talking to before I came? " my eyes went across the place to land on the guy who's been looking at us. Not me but Hermia. He likes her?

"What the heck, why will I like the guy?"

I giggle, like I do when I'm excited and I know Hermia hates it so I do it. At least she—

"You're annoying. " she groaned making me giggle again.

"Fine,  it's done. Prove it to me. How many days should I give you? "

She stares at me for a second then flicked my forehead. "Two weeks."

I frown,  "You can't fall in love in "just" two weeks. I give you a whole session to prove me wrong. "

She grins and I'm glad I made her happy. "Okay,  your honor. You'll give me a day treat out plus doing my homeworks for me for the whole next session if I prove you wrong. "

"And if I win? "

She chuckled, then patted me. "I'm confident you can't. "

"Okay,  " I raised my chin. "If I do win, you'll have to start acting like a girl. "

She rolls her eyes. "You're overconfident "

"Are you talking about yourself? Because hell no,  I'm not. " I laugh.
