1: New books
Ghost: Hey Mari come look at this
Hearing her name being called, Mari was forced the out her book away as she went to see what the problem was. Against her will, her friends had forced her to come with them as they went to check out this new mall that had opened up. She walked over the the blonde bear boy, clearly annoyed that he had interrupted her reading.
Mari: What is it Gabe?
Ghost: Check it out?
He held up three books, holding them out to her. She was now interested, taking a look at the strange books he held out to her. The first book was pure black but the front cover was decorated with a bright and beautiful blue and purple butterfly, it's wings extended gracefully.
The next book was a navy blue, with gold lining the edges. The front cover had a moon on it, with small stars scattered around. The moon was placed on top of other larger stars, giving it an odd but beautiful look.
The third book was pure white, almost glowing in a way. All around the book there were the odd blue gems, each one surrounded by a golden lining.
She stared at them, her interest growing by the second. Each book had this weird aura around it, as if they were more than just books.
Mari: Where did you find them?
Ghost: They were just sitting at the bottom of an empty bookshelf, nobody wanted them it seems.
She took the books, staring at the covers as if they had hypnotized her. These books were more than just books, she could feel something inside her that just wanted to take them home and read every single page. She just needed to read them, even if it took all night.
Mari: How much are they?
Ghost: Owner said we could take them home for free, otherwise he'd throw them out
Mari: Then we're taking them
He grinned, seeing her reaction towards the books.
Ghost: I knew you'd like them
Mari: Shut up before I slap you.
She rolled her eyes, stuffing the books into a small bag she carried around as they walked out. A small part of her was excited to get home, ready to see what was up with these odd books.
'Did you guys hear a voice?'
'Yes, that means we'll soon be free from this prison.'
'I kinda like it here though'
'Shut up cupcake girl'
Getting home couldn't have been faster enough for Mari. Almost immediately she went back to her room, reading the books. Almost immediately she noticed a strange text in the book, as if they had written for a special reason. Each word, each sentence, it all seemed to hold a deep emotion that just couldn't be explained.
'We aren't monsters, we're afraid.'
'Please don't send me away, it hurts'
It was like she could feel the emotions of each girl as their words were quoted. The anger, the fear, she could feel it all.
Mari: I doubt this is real anyway
She had already gotten through half of each of the books, yet for some reason a strong urge to sleep consumed her mind. Usually she could stay up for days reading, but this time was different. It was like something was forcing her to sleep, and so far it was winning.
Mari: Alright fine, I'll go to sleep.
Setting the books down on her desk, she left the room for a moment to prepare for bed. Perhaps she she stayed a bit longer, she may have heard soft crying echoing off the walls.
Please let me out, it hurts!
