Chapter 11

Athena

Ares and I entered the mansion which buzzed with life and familiar faces from college. Although I talked to a lot of them, I now stood witness to so many unfamiliar faces too. The music was loud, thumping into my chest. Everyone around me seemed to be in a state of trance.

Not knowing if the boys threw the party themselves or they too were unaware like me, I walked in, checking every room for their whereabouts. While some rooms were filled with people munching onto food or playing on the PlayStation, others had converted themselves to a place for orgies.

I quickly walk into my room which had turned into a shrine for a fistfight between two boys, both of whom were controlled by their anger about something. Before I could move closer to them, Ares kept his hand over me, stopping me from proceeding further.

Giving him a confident smile, I conveyed my ability to handle the situation. Moving closer to the fight, I sensed the issue. My vision could see what had happened a while back, why the boys were angry.

"Let's chug a whole beer man," the first boy said to the other, who sat in a corner of my room.

"Yeah, bro. Let's do it."

The first boy tosses a beer can to the second, who clumsily drops it on the floor, spilling the contents everywhere.

"Aww. Sorry man," the second kid said, dapping at the spilled contents with a tissue.

"Hey, no problem. Here you go." The first boy tossed yet another can for him.

Before the second boy could catch it, Sam intervened. "Boys...boys... what do we have here?"

"Nothing Sam," the first boy replied. "We were gonna chug beer, see who finished first."

"Yup," the second one chimed in. "Although, I spilled the contents of the first can." He laughed at his clumsiness. Sam observed their conversation like a predator watching its prey.

Before any of them could say anything, Sam wrapped his hands around both of them, staring into their eyes. "You know, even I had a clumsy friend. He always used to spill contents here and there...always made a mess. And one day, I lost my temper..."

Being played into Sam's powers, both the men lost their calm, ready to fight.

"Sam is right," the first one pointed to the second. "You're such a butterfingers. I don't even know why I'm friends with you."

"Ohh, come on," the second one countered. "You're always tossing stuff. Are you a monkey to throw everything? Can't you just give things like a normal being?"

"Did you just call me a monkey?"

The vision faded into the current reality. I stood between two men whose fight was instigated by Sam. He knew chaos bought him powers and he did exactly the same. Played at the weak.

"Is your friend responsible for this?" Ares air-quotes the word friend, making me realize he was mocking me. I nodded at his words.

The surprising part was that my so-called friends didn't think it was relevant to inform me that they planned on throwing a party or that they intended in destroying my room.

Intervening between the fight, I used my powers to dissolve the grudges both the boys seemed to be holding against each other for quite some time.

"I command you to stop..." As soon as those words hit them, they froze in their act, dropping down on their knees.

Although it was only a minuscule of power that I had used, it was still strong for the mortals to kneel in front of me. I walked out of the door, searching for the culprit. Ares, bring in his true form, teased me constantly for having such chaotic friends who thrived on power struggles and fights.

"What are you talking about Ares? Even you and Dad derive your powers with men fighting. For God's sakes, you are the god of war," I said, hooking my eyebrows to make a point.

Ares chuckled while walking with me to find my roommates, who were nowhere to be found.

"Where the hell are they?" I asked, unable to find anyone in the throng.

Clearing his throat, Ares turned me toward the direction where the crowd was gathering. Waddling through them, it was only when we stood in the front of the gathering in our backyard, did I realize the truth.

All the brothers were having a fun pool party. All of them along with a bunch of very pretty girls were frolicking in the pool while the onlookers were feeding onto them their powers. I scanned the area for each of them. Rett was having his way with some busty woman while Jake and Zane were deep inside the water. I could only assume they were going down on people.

Holding my hand, Ares walked me back into the house, into my room. When in power, Ares and I were proud gods and goddesses. In our current fallen state, there were times when both of us had revealed weaker traits like anger and jealousy.

Ares must have felt weaker at that moment to take me back to my room. As much as we would hate to admit, we Greek gods and goddesses weren't that close even with our siblings. Only when our fallen traits appeared, Ares and I developed the protective sibling bond.

"Thanks," I said, sitting back on the bed while Ares acted like a big brother, getting everyone out of my room. He ensured, the place was secured. He even walked into the washroom to see if someone was lurking around. While I sit and observe him, he smirked at me, cleaning the cups and plates laying on the floor.

"You know you could help right!"

I nodded but it was more fun to irritate the god of war than help him. "Please clean that spillage in the corner too."

Ares threw an empty cup towards me. I ducked. Using my power, I pushed him away while he used his to push me back further into my bed. Picking up a pillow, I tossed it across his face. The feathers withered away from it, floating all across the room. Ares instantly picked up a book to defend himself while I jumped on the bed, throwing more stuff at him.

"What's gotten into you? Calm down now." He came closer, pulling me on the bed while making a burrito out of me with a blanket

"Let me go." I tried tossing around, struggling to set free while he held me down.

"Apologize," he commanded.

"Never." I twisted my face, trying to rile him up more. Ares held me down still, waiting to get what he wanted. "LET ME GO."

"Not until you apologies."

Before I could push him off me, another voice came across. "What do we have here?"

It was Ezra, standing at the door, watching our sibling fight unfold.

Ares got off me. I threw the blanket aside, pushing myself off the bed.

"And we thought you were at your father's', Athena." Zane moved in, looking back at Erza. He peered at me before their gaze traveled towards Ares who remained unaffected.

"Well, I was home. Then I came back. And what do I see when I come back." Waving my hand around, I displayed my displeasure. "People, food, clothes, drinks all spilled across the house."

"Don't forget the Orgies," Ares whispers to me while I nodded.

Ezra and Zane looked back at Ares who hardly cared about their reaction. "Who may we know you are?" Zane asked.

Ares smiled, setting himself on my bed. I had known him long enough to understand when he assumed someone was a challenge he wanted to compete with. As he sat and observed my two roommates, I knew what Ares was thinking of. Holding his hand, I felt a sting of jealousy run through me. Looking back at Ezra and Zane, both of who seems unaffected, I couldn't understand who felt that.

"You might not know me but I'm someone very special in Athena's life," Ares said, smirking.

Ezra and Zane's gaze travelled instantly toward me. As if on cue, the rest of the brothers appeared at my doorstep.

"What do we have here? Or should I say, who?" Sam interfered. Having made a few people fight, he was brimming with energy.

Before I could introduce my brother, Ares held my hand, pulling me closer to him. Though confused, I let him toy with the boys. Surely they deserved that for not letting me know about the party and for lending my room for the fight club sequel.

"Who are you, man?" Jake asked, taking a careful step towards Ares. "And what are you doing in our house?"

Rett was the one who walked closest to Ares before holding my hand, pulling me off of him.

"Don't go, Athena," my brother commanded.

I felt a tug of war between Ares and Rett, with me being the subject they pulled at. I looked at Ares with pleading eyes. He could be cruel at times but never ignorant of his sister's pleadings.

Letting go of my hand, I fell onto Rett who supported me immediately.

"I am Ares," my brother announced. "Athena's brother."

All the seven looked at each other in surprise before looking at me for affirmation. I nodded, letting them know the truth. As their frowns disappeared into a smile, Kare and Liam talked to Ares while Sam tried explaining the reason for lending my room.

"You better have a good reason," I said, crossing my arms across my chest.

"I do," Sam's head tilted lower. "I swear, I thought you won't turn up today."

"That's not an excuse to let others have my room."

"Well, it's not technically your room, Athena. It's our room. You just stay here."

Anger coursed through me. "Excuse me!"

Did Sam just tell me, I was an intruder than their roommate? Was that their thought about me? Was it the reason why they didn't tell me about the party?

"You know what Samuel, I let you have your house and your room."

Holding onto Ares's hand, I walked. Before I could cross the threshold of the door, Kare bear called me out. "Where are you going?"

"Anywhere but here. I can't stay at a place where I am not welcome."
