A week had passed and Thomas and I had been mutually visiting each other. I would bring snacks and treats and he would bring wildflowers and help me with outdoor projects. He hated when I helped though, I think he likes helping me work outside and being a stereotypical man and taking care of things outside.

It was normal to see him but it was already five o'clock and if he was following the same pattern I was today was his day to visit. I brushed it off and figured he was busy. I washed some dishes and went outside to finish painting the porch.

The sun was going down and shadows were cast on the lawn. I heard an engine coming from the distance and looked up to see a car with a younger man in it drive past. I shrugged it off and watched him drive past. He looked at me and I tried not to make eye contact as he continued down the road. Maybe he was just driving through.

When I was done painting I went inside and showered and pulled my hair back into a ponytail. I turned off the lights and made sure the door was locked before walking to bed. I opened the window and let the air in and the warm but windy air fell into my room around me.

I laid down in bed and closed my eyes, ready for sleep and felt my exhaustion rise. That was until I heard something that made me jolt up, blood freezing in my veins and hair standing up on the back of my neck. A man screaming. I jumped up and ran to my window, it was coming in the direction of Thomas's house. I stood still, not knowing what to do. All I could think of was the man that drove past earlier.

**Violence warning ahead**

I slid on some shoes and threw a small jacket over my shoulders. I didn't know what I was going to do if he was hurt but I was going to try to help all I could. I grabbed my truck keys and ran outside, flying down the road. The car from earlier was no where to be found but the front door was standing wide open to Thomas's house. I turned my truck off and stuffed my keys in my pocket, running up to the door. The screaming was loud and I dreaded what I was going to see.

That is when the man from the car ran to the door, screaming, blood was everywhere. I froze, I was halfway between my truck and the porch when he ran to me, grabbing me with bloody hands. "He's insane, help me please." He said as Thomas ran out the front door and stopped on the porch. He had a chainsaw in his hands, revving.

I felt like I couldn't breathe. I ran to my truck and turned it on quickly. I looked up in the brightness of my headlights to see the man almost in my truck. I sped off, as he slammed the door and leaned back in my seat, Thomas watched me drive off as he stood on the porch, I was hyperventilating, but I couldn't tell until I was flying past my house trying to make it into town.

I didn't know where to go. I drove into the police station's parking lot and slammed on my breaks. I looked over at the man next to me and examined his wounds. He had obvious bruising and cut on his face and chest. His left arm was mangled, probably from the chainsaw. I helped him out of the truck and into the police station.

"Help! Help us please!" I screamed, feeling the tears dripping down my face. A man walked out from the only lit office. It was the same man that helped me sign the papers to my house. He had a grim look on his face. "What are you doing, help me." I screamed. He smiled and walked over, "What did you get into Winnie?" I looked up at him, "What?" I asked, as I felt a hard hit to my temple, followed by a black out.
