Chapter 2: Entrance Exam

Chapter 2 here we go ^_^ The U.A. Entrance exams are here and the stakes couldn't be higher! Who knows where this story will go...cause I sure don't! Enjoy!

This is it! This is my chance to prove myself!

Without hesitation, you pulled your body forward and began running along with everyone else. It was complete mayhem, with so people running in different directions, it made your head spin.

The arena was more maze-like than what you had expected, and it looked just like a regular city. A lot of your competitors flocked to the smaller robots that were close by the entrance, but you decided that wasn't wise.

I'll find the bigger two-point robots, I'll destroy them, and then I'll pass!

Farther away you spotted a large cluster of robots just sitting there like easy targets. You grinned and prepared for a fight.

Bright white dots of lights began to illuminate on your arms, legs, and face as you prepared your body to create your force fields. Using your force field quirk used up a lot of energy, so you had to be extremely strategic with how you utilized it.

With a swift burst of energy, you created six sphere-like force fields and pushed them towards the group of robots. In an instant, the force fields exploded with such force that it destroyed and disintegrated the nine robots.

You whistled at the explosions and laughed at your handiwork. This was going well!

"Y/n...g-good job!" A voice called out to you.

You looked up and saw Amajiki swinging from the streetlights on...octopus tentacles!?

"Woah Amajiki!" You shouted out in surprise. "No fair you have extra mobility!"

"S-Sorry, but I wanna pass too..." He said. He kept on swinging until he was down the road and out of earshot, on his way to fight the robots himself. You smiled at his newfound confidence but you didn't have any time to waste. There were still many robots to fight and destroy!

...

Robot after robot...point after point...eventually you lost count of how many you had taken down and you weren't even sure how many you had to take out. There were also a few people that you had "saved" from being mowed down by some of the bigger robots, but you doubted that that would affect your final score.

You ran from street to street, trying to find more targets. After all, you weren't the only one taking this exam, and you definitely weren't the only one who wanted to pass. Speaking of which...

"Amajiki...I hope you are doing ok." You said aloud, your eyebrows furrowing together with worry. You hadn't seen him since your first attack and you were growing a bit nervous. So far you had not run into any robots down this street, so you were thinking that perhaps there were none left.

Actually...the street was dead silent. You stopped in your tracks, listening for any sound of movement. Nothing.

"W-What the hell...where is everyone?" You asked yourself, the hairs in the back of your neck beginning to stand on end. Maybe the exam is over? Is this how U.A. did things?

Before you could turn back and gather your thoughts a quiet booming sound reverberated in your ears. It started to sound like footsteps to you but what made you nervous was the fact that they were getting louder.

But before you could run away quickly enough, an enormous robot landed next to you, its feet crashing into the ground next to you. You flew backward, your head and back hitting the pavement hard. You rolled over a few times, the wind completely knocked out of you.

Cursing you struggled to get to your feet, and your blood ran cold as you took in the huge robot. Compared to the buildings, the green robot was at least three stories taller and at least two times wider.

"O-Oh shit...oh no I have to--" You spluttered, and you tried to move but your body was not listening to you right now. "Ahh!"

"Y/n! Look out!"

Everything happened so quickly. You didn't even have time to properly react before someone tackled you to the ground, pushing you out of the way of the robot's foot just in time. For the second time today the wind was knocked out of you as you both fell on the ground. You had landed on top of whoever just saved you but you soon realized that it was none other than Amajiki.

"Y/n--you--a-are you alright?" he asked, his black eyes blown wide as he looked up at you with an incredibly worried expression.

Amajiki? Why are you here?

"I'm--I'm fine. Thank you Amajiki." you said, rolling off of him and staring up at the robot who was now simply walking away from you two. "Y-Yeah you better run! Stupid robot!"

"Y/n d-don't antagonize i-it. The exam's probably a-almost over...so that's why i-it's leaving." Amajiki said. He got up from the ground quickly, brushing the dust off of his black athletic pants. You began to say something before you were cut off by Present Mic's incredibly high-pitched voice.

"ALLLRIGHT LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!! THE EXAM IS OVEEER!!" He announced, his voice reverberating throughout the entire fake city. You breathed out in relief and sank to the ground, completely exhausted. Tears welled up in your eyes, and you cupped your face in your hands.

"Y/n? A-Are you al-alright?" Amajiki asked you, obviously surprised by your emotional outburst.

You sniffed and rubbed at your eyes roughly. "Yeah, I'm just relieved. That it's over."

"Yeah, me too..."

...

You left the exam with low expectations. Second guessing yourself was a talent of yours and this was definitely one of the worst situations you could be in. You didn't know how you did on the written portion of the exam and you had unfortunately lost count of the robots you had defeated. Did you defeat enough? How many even was enough? What else could you have done...

"Y/N! Dinner's ready!!!" you heard your sister yell from downstairs before she erupted into a coughing fit.

You heard your mother shuffle around downstairs, probably trying to find a tissue for Kyoko. You heard their muffled whispers and you buried your face in your hands. Whatever happens, you had to be strong for the both of them...especially for Kyoko.

"Alright, I'm coming!"

Zipping up your hoodie you walked downstairs and Kyoko pulled herself away from your doting mother almost immediately after she saw you. "By the way, the mail came late today! And there's something from U.A. High!"

"What?" you asked, looking at your mother for reassurance. She gave you a tiny smile and nodded over to the envelope that was placed next to your plate on the table. Your breath caught in your throat.

"Congratulations y/n!!" Kyoko exclaimed, not bothering to read the room at all.

"But what if I didn't--"

"Don't think like that y/n. U.A. should be grateful you even want to go there...someone as amazing as you...they would be absolute fools not to recognize your talent. Whatever happens, you did your best and as cheesy as it sounds, that's the only thing that matters. Now open it." your mom said, her dark eyes looking more determined than ever. Kyoko looked at her with wide eyes. "We're here for you, no matter what happens."

"Yeah!" Kyoko said raising her small fist in the air. She was so optimistic and bright. It made you remember just why you were doing this...

"T-Thank you. Here we go." you said. Walking over to the table you picked up the envelope gingerly. Kyoko and your mother both watched you with bated breath.

In one swift motion, you ripped the envelope paper and out flew a small grey cube, which made you raise an apprehensive eyebrow. Without warning a small hologram of a dancing Present Mic appeared along with some upbeat jazzy music. Kyoko laughed loudly at the hologram, and your mother shook her head.

"I thought U.A. was supposed to be serious." she commented just before Present Mic began talking loudly, his voice echoing throughout the entire house.

"HEEEY THERE LUCKY STUDENT!! YOU...HAVE...BEEN...ACCEPTED! CONGRATULATIONS!" Present Mic yelled. "And here's your rank y/n!" The screen changed and you saw a scoreboard with your name and everyone else's name. Your name was next to a bright number three...you placed third in the entire exam!

"AAAAHHH!! NUMBER THREE!!" you, Kyoko, and your mother yelled in unison at the news. Kyoko pushed herself against you and hugged you as tightly as she could while your mother ran to the living room. She came back with her car keys in hand and a huge smile on her face.

"Screw dinner! Let's go out tonight!" she said and Kyoko cheered with glee and ran off to get her jacket. You stood still though. "Y/n...how do you feel?" she asked you softly, placing a gentle but firm hand on your shoulder.

"I'm shocked. It doesn't feel real mom." you breathed. Her arms wrapped around your back and embraced you.

"Oh it's real y/n. But this is just the first step...there's a lot more to do. But you'll get through it because that's who you are. I'm so proud of you. Dad would be proud too." she whispered and you buried your face in the crook of her shoulder. "Let's go celebrate. You deserve it."

"Yeah let's go out on the town!" You heard Kyoko say. You laughed and let go of your mom, giving her a small smile.

"Mom...when does school start again?"
