Prolouge
Third Person's POV
"I hope she's right about this one." A teenage male muttered to himself as he looked as his surroundings whilst standing behind a flickering TV that turned off after a few seconds. He first looked at the pamphlet on his hand left hand and then back at the scenery in front of him.
Glastonbury, a small town yet still peaceful, especially in this early of the day. The boy was standing in front of the train station entrance as he looks at the town. With an big inhale of air, he smelled the good breeze of the morning presence of Glastonbury then exhaled.
"And I hope of what I'm about to do will pay off. Eventually." With one final look, he folded the pamphlet and stuffed it in pocket of his pants, bent down to grab his beige-colored suitcase with his left hand while holding his black-colored staff on his right hand, and his gray-colored satchel slung over his left shoulder and starts walking on the town streets.
This teenage boy is very tall, taller than most people in Glastonbury town. A mop of purple-colored hair that is medium in length covering his ears. He wore a pair of spectacles colored red that looks oddly similar to an optometrist's trial frames, a black lower face gas mask that has two small filter cartridges on both sides making it less noticeable than a normal gas mask. Along with wearing a black shirt with a deep purple shade colored vest buttoned on top of it. As well as wearing a pair of black slacks with pair of white leather shoes.
As he walks through the town as he slightly glances on the town's people as they bypass him, some of them just give him a stoic face, some with joy along with their morning greetings, but some of them gave him a wary looks, probably that this is the first time they saw someone like him in the town.
"I should have left this mask inside my suitcase or in my satchel. But then again, you won't know what kind of disease you might get from a new surrounding." He muttered to himself yet again, but this time with annoyance lacing on his voice.
After a little walk around town, he paused his stride infront of a vast green meadow that contains some dandelions and clovers, which he admire the sheer peaceful view of the meadow. After gazing the grassy meadows, he lifted his staff up and lightly tap the butt into the ground causing the staff to glowed a deep purple hue. At the crown of the staff projects the map of the town and it's neighboring city, Blytonbury, showing where he is currently standing and where his destination is.
"A few more steps and I am there." He muttered to himself and tapped his staff again to dissipate the projection and starts walking again towards his destination.
He continues to walk until he sees up agead, a broken tower with trees filling on the broken top of the castle at the top of a small hill, he sensed magic flowing through it and continues to walk towards that direction. He walked on an average pace as he passed over a stoned bridge, and afterwards, just a few yards away as he keeps walking up the hill until not a moment later, he finally reached the broken tower.
With a puff of air that escapes his mask, he walked right inside of the broken tower, which the map called it as "Glastonbury Tor". He looked around the interior of the tower, noticing the aging stones, the branches clinging onto them. He looked up to the ceiling and see nothing unnatural than just a bunch of tree branches and a few missing roof tiles, however he sense the bridge's magic that leads to his destination.
He lifted his staff and pointed the crown to the ceiling, the staff glowed and shot a purple beam through the ceiling until it dissipates, after a few second, the ceiling starts giving off emerald sparks until fully forming a portal, showing the leyline terminal towards his destination. Seeing as he opened the portal successfully, he lowered his staff and placed it on the ground, putting both of his feet on the body as he stood on top of his staff.
"Tia Freyre" He said in his head and flowed his magic through the staff. The staff glowed again and starts to levitate, carrying him upwards towards the leyline terminal entrance to his destination that is located on the other side of this terminal.
As he entered the portal, the entrance of the terminal closed behind him as he continues to fly inside of it. While flying, using his free hand which is his right hand, he opens his satchel and pull out a book with a mountain as the cover entitled "The Silmarillion" written by J.R.R. Tolkein and closed his satchel and starts to read the book. He continues to read where he left off from the book until he looks up and saw that he is about to reach the end of the terminal showing a vast land with a castle on it.
"This is my stop then. Page 123." He marked his book by making a paper bookmark out of nothing but his own magic and places it inbetween the pages of where he stops. He snaps his book shut, placing it inside his satchel again as he flew towards the castle.
Luna Nova Magical Academy, the most prestigious school for witches, the academy where he was recommended to. He admired the academy's structure and the tower that carries it's magical source, the Sorcerer's Stone. While he is admiring the school's surrounding and its appearance, approaching the said school, he starts to slow down his speed and is about to reach the school grounds. Once he touched the surface, he got off his staff and started walking, not forgetting his staff, he raises his hand up to shoulder level and the staff flew towards it's owner, once on his hands, the glowing hue around the staff stopped and he continues to walk inside the academy.
He walked and walked inside the academy, admiring the interior work of the school just as much as he admires the exterior. Seeing many portraits of previous and notable figures of the school. He met or walked pass some of the workers, meeting with minotaurs, faeries and such which he greeted them silently with either a nod or a wave, which they either greeted back or ignore the newcomer. He continues his travel inside the school compound until he felt different magical energy sources and followed it. As he reached his destination, he felt that the room where the magical energy sources are in must the headmistress' office. He stood infront of the headmistress' door and was about to knock until he hears a voices inside the office. Not being able to make out what they are saying, he was about to place his ears on the door but he respects privacy of others unless they want to say it to them, so he waits for the people inside of the office to finish their conversation.
After a few minutes of waiting outside of the office and thinking that the conversation between the professors of this academy might not end, it is time for him to make his presence known to them. Fixing his spectacles, adjusting his clothings and his mask, finally satisfied with his current state, he gave a knock on the door. Thinking that they might not hear the knocking, he tried again until he assumes that they didn't noticed the knocking on the headmistress' door. With another option, he gave an audible breathing sound, audible enough for them to hear it.
Inside the Headmistress' office.
The professors of Luna Nova Magical Academy are talking amongst themselves about letting a new student here in their school, a male student no less. Having to hear about the news of letting or even allowing a male in an all-girl school caused an affront among the professors.
"I know that most of you all don't agree with the enrollment of a student here, specifically a male student in this academy-" The headmistress was about to explain until she was cut off by another professor.
"That is exactly the point Headmistress Holbrooke. A male student is enrolled here in this academy, an academy of "witches", not an academy of witches "and" wizards. We have no rules here that regards about having a male here in this school." Professor Anne Finnelan retorted back to the headmistress about the topic.
"Witches, we have experience on teaching them, this institution has been an all-girl institution since the 5th century by the great Nine Olde Witches. But having a boy, a boy student here in this academy is just downright different for us." Professor Samantha Badcock also responded to Headmistress' idea of enrolling a boy in the academy.
"We have no idea if this kid might get this academy less known than it already is. He must be some kind of a nut job if he starts to do something stupid." Professor Nelson gave her mind on the conversation, giving a much more annoyed voice while holding her broom.
"He might bring a curse onto us, and might be about the end of us along with the school." Professor Lukić spoke in her uncanny voice, responding onto the conversation.
"Now, now professors. I-I-I know that this is off putting for you all here, but this is might be a good chance for us here. You know, a form of promotion maybe? hahaha?" Professor Ursula nervously tried to calm their affront however she received a scowl face from Professor Finnelan, but before she could reply, Headmistress Holbrooke beat her to it.
"I think Professor Ursula's words could be true my dear. We already facing the fact that we are decreasing numbers. There's little to no witches that are enrolling in the realm of magic. This causes people to believe in magic to fade away until it becomes obsolete in the near future. This could be an opportunity for Luna Nova, an opportunity that might promote on increasing the numbers of witches and wizards alike in the magic world. It might a chance that we can take my professors." She replied, trying to make them understand the situation that they are already. A moment of silence fell amongst the staff members of Luna Nova Magical Academy until Professor Badcock broke the silence.
"I guess we could try. It might take a while for the staff members to get a hang on teaching something different than our uniform teaching." Professor Badcock said with a sigh, thinking to herself that this an opportunity like Headmistress Holbrooke and Professor Callistis. The other professors are lightly convince by the course of action that the headmistress stated, along with Professor Ursula smiling lightly, thanking the headmistress in her for agreeing with her.
Professor Finnelan on the other hand, was not as convinced as the others, still skeptical about the situation. She wanted to retort back, but before she can do that, an audible breathing noise came into the room
[Insert Darth Vader breathing sfx, because it sounds badass to me]
All of them we're startled by the sudden noise, especially a breathing noise that is impossibly loud for a normal person could do. They looked everywhere in the room as the sound came in once again, but a certain professor recognizes the sounds and she gave a light nervous laugh which gain the others attention away from the sound.
"I forgot to announce to all of you that the new male student of ours likes to be early. Especially when it comes to important meetings such as this one. He's probably behind the door right now, waiting for your permission to enter. I apologize for not informing you Professors." She lightly bowed down to them, easing their tense stature, except for Professor Finnelan.
"The next time if you know something about our new student Professor Callistis, be sure to report to us so we could atleast prepare for it." Professor Finnelan lightly scolds the clumsy, blunette professor which Professor Callistis apologizes to the professors and to the headmistress.
"Well then, why don't we greet our new student? If you can hear us, you may enter now. " Headmistress Holbrooke said, loud enough for the new student to hear from outside the office.
The breathing sound stop, after a few seconds the door of office, opened revealing the new student of Luna Nova Magical Academy. He walked forward with his suitcase on his left hand, and his staff on his right tapping the ground as he walked forwards. He stopped a good, few feet away from them and stood there with unreadable face since it is concealed by both his glasses and his mask.
"Headmistress Holbrooke." He said with a calm voice in front of the other Professors of the Academy, and gave the people inside the office and little bow.
"Nice to meet you as well my new student." She replied lightly with a smile on her face, but seemingly tense at the figure before her, surprise by the appearance of the new student, the others felt the same way as well.
"You seem unsettled." He replied back as he puts down his suitcase on the floor as he puts both hands on his staff and leaned on it, trying to give a relax composure to lessen their tensed state which appeared to worked, only slightly.
"Oh, it's just that we didn't expect for the new student to be here in the academy at this time, especially in this early of time. Most of the students are probably going on their way here right now." Headmistress Holbrooke replied with her tensed voice no longer visible.
"My apologies Headmistress, for I have many things to explain. Especially for barging in without any form of welcoming manner." He replied with a voice being as apoligetic as possible in their ears.
"It's is fine. We just didn't expect our new student to be..... um..." The headmistress tried to come up with a word to describe the new student but the other professors beat her to it.
"Tall?" Professor Samantha.
"Dark?" Professor Lukić
"A sith?" Another professor replied, this professor is blindfolded designed with a single eye in the middle.
"Mad?" Another unnamed professor replied.
"Those first two I understand my professors, but I can assure you, I am not a Mad person, nor I am a Sith. Though the "Sith" word will be understandable at some point but those will be it my professors." He stopped their description debate about him.
"Now for the main reason. Why?" Professor Finnelan asked the the new student which he looked at her with a confused face, even though it is concealed by the accessories but she understood the meaning of his stare.
"Why enroll here? Out of all the magical schools that exists in the realm of magic, why an academy full of witches? You know there are schools for wizards as well, yet you are enrolled here in an all-girl school. So why?" Professor Finnelan questioned the teen about his decision about going here in this academy.
The teen contemplated at first, trying to find an answer at first, which leaves him quiet at first and lightly looks down at the floor. The other professors were waiting an answer from him. After a few seconds of silence, and he looked at them and answered.
"There are reasons for enrolling in this academy my professor. Though most of those reasons are for myself and for myself alone. For that reason is since I am new here, I am not yet comfortable for telling such reasoning to any of you just yet." He said truthfully infront of everyone on the room, which they send him some suspecting looks onto him, especially from Professor Finnelan, but Headmistress Holbrooke and Professor Ursula agreed to his reasoning. Before they could questioned him further. He raised his hand to stop them from talking.
"But there are some reasons that I can share to you all. One reason is that I would like to feel what it's like to be taught by someone other than my master whom homeschooled me throughout most of my life as I have never been schooled before. And with the first reason, that also includes being able to communicate physically with someone close to my age and have the feeling to actually have a colleague or a classmate. And lastly would be that, one of your former student insisted or maybe "forced" me into enrolling this academy, since they highly praise this school, so I thought why not." He explained his minor reasons to them.
Even though he said those minor reasons to them. They still gave him such a suspicious look, a look which makes them question whether his reasoning are indeed valid or not. For Professor Finnelan's view, he seems to be untruthful to them, just today, but she feels that there's more to reveal about his reason. Before they could question him again about it, Headmistress send off a little giggle from her lips and sent the new student a gentle smile.
"Very well then. I know that them interrogating you further would most likely make you feel uncomfortable, but rest assured, you will know what it is like to be a student in this academy. And I am sure that our former student, whoever she is, made a good choice on having you to recommend this school young lad." Headmistress Holbrooke assured the young student about enrolling into this institution. As well as Professor Ursula who was standing besides her with a small smile on her face.
"Thank you for understanding my reasons Headmistress Holbrooke. For my part being a student, rest assured that I will behave the best I could, to lessen the problem that you are currently dealing with righr now Headmistess." He said as he stopped leaning onto his staff and stood straight infront of them all, giving all of the professor a small bow.
"My pleasure Mr? I'm sorry, I didn't get you're name." Headmistress Holbrooke asked about her new student's name while giving a small chuckle.
"Mahiko. Mahiko Reinkarnasyon."
